We spent President's Day long weekend at this lovely home celebrating my father-in-law's 70th birthday. The whole family was there for the long weekend and then my in-laws stayed on through the week. The house is set up perfectly for families and easily fit 3 separate family units. We put the pack-in-play in the bonus room and everyone had their own room! Since I organized the trip, my husband and I took what I think is the best room in the house (and one of the best rooms in all of Carmel!), what we called the "Tree House" room on the upper floor. It has a surround of windows and looks out onto a majestic Cypress tree. You can see peeks of the ocean all the way out to Carmel point. The house is also just a few blocks up from downtown and it is really easy to walk in to town for coffee, meals, and shopping. We also walked to the beach and back with our motley crew that ranged in age from 1 to 70 with a few teenagers in the mix. The house is really well stocked, the kitchen has great appliances and the washer/dryer seemed brand new, plus there is a full stocked game closet with old school gems like Chutes and Ladders. It's got a nice backyard that my 1 year old enjoyed exploring in the mornings. The owner, Jeff, could not have been nicer. He even let us sneak in a little early on our check-in day so that we could put out balloons, flowers, and stock the fridge for when the birthday boy arrived. As another reviewer mentioned, you do have to dart across Ocean to get to the pedestrian path but it is by no means a major thoroughfare and it's easy enough to just wait a few seconds and walk across. Being just 3 blocks from town was great- and for those of you with kids- the Carmel Children's Library is not to be missed. One final note about the layout of the house- having two 3 seater sofa's and having the living room open to the dining room meant that even with our group of 9 we never felt crowded. We are looking forward to our next trip.

This was the perfect place for our Texas family vacation. (Four of the eight are California born.) The house lives up to the many kind reviews we read when looking for the right place. The house faces Ocean Avenue, just three short blocks from the Village and Bruno's Market and Deli. Yet it is a quiet setting surrounded by oaks and redwoods. For major grocery shopping a Safeway is only a five minute drive. We particulary enjoyed the fine kitchen and meals together around the large dining room table. Not to be missed : early morning at the beach to watch sea lions and otters in the surf; nearby Point Lobos Preserve for hiking, rugged coastline views and wild life. Thanks, Jeff, for creating the perfect family vacation rental.
Owner response:Bob, thanks so much for pointing out the oak trees and redwood trees around the house; they do provide a comfortable, quiet setting. It makes me feel great to hear comments like your's, it's turly appreciated.

I just spent a wonderful, relaxing week in this beautiful home. To my delight, your home offered up the quiet and calm atmosphere for a fun reunion with family and friends. The beds are heavenly and comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with most cooking supplies needed for creating any meal you can think of. We walked into town and down to the beach....what a beautiful site! Thank you so much for allowing us to spend time in your home! It was awesome.
Owner response:My sincere thank you for the kind comments! It is our pleasure to share Pacific Tides and it makes us very happy to think that our guests are creating life long memories while there. Take care, Jeff

A spacious and airy home that provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. It was meticulously clean, the beds were heaven, and the owner was very pleasant to correspond with. It's a place my family is looking forward to staying in again. Far nicer than staying in a hotel...thank you Jeff!
Owner response:Buffie, thank you very much for the kind comments, and you are very welcome; it truly means a lot and makes me very happy when guests have a wonderful time at Pacific Tides; I am so happy that you had a great time! I know when I go there myself, I don't want to leave! Cheers, Jeff

Needed a week in Carmel for daughter's wedding. Home is great value and well stocked with everything needed to have meals in and gathering different sets of people for a wedding - bachelorette activities, bridal preparations and recovering after the event. Beds were very comfortable. Central Carmel location was helpful to all that needed to be done.
Owner response:Thanks Bubba, it makes me very happy to know that Pacific Tides provided a nice experience for your daughters wedding. Congratulations!

We rented this home on the occasion of my husband's 40th birthday. We invited a few of our closest friends to come stay with us at varying times during the rental. The house is beautiful...very unique wood floor design in the main living room and a gorgeous wood staircase as well. There is plenty of room for 3 families with small children to co-exist peacefully. There were plenty of amenities provided including towels, throw rugs, extra blankets, and a very generous board game closet. There is also a sizeable collection of Play Station games to go with the provided play station. To top it off, Jeff the owner is wonderful to work with. The only downside of this home is it is on a very busy street and you must cross this street to get to the path that leads to downtown. However, I think this is a minor challenge when considered with all the positives that this home offers. Thank you Jeff for your wonderful hospitality!
Owner response:Gotta keep the kids busy with games of all kinds, no?! ;-) The game closet is fun and I know the Playstation games keep the kids busy for hours! Thanks for the review, and the kind words, they are appreciated.

This home is charming and wonderful! Five of us (plus a partner & two kids) attended a conference in Carmel this year and it fit our needs perfectly. A quick stop for grocery shopping made this trip economical and the fully stocked kitchen and nice dining area made it cozy for eating at "home". A short half mile walk downtown and .6 to the beach...open the windows at night to hear the surf. Free WiFi and laundry, totally kid friendly... large rooms.... a nice deck in the back... the list goes on. This place was awesome. One last note... the owner was awesome too. We will be back.
Owner response:You are too kind! Thank you very much for the kind words, they are appreciated!

Jeff - your house was everything it promised to be. We have rented houses all over the State and I have to say yours was one of the best "stocked" we have stayed in. Kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Location was great. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Owner response:Thank you Linda! I'm very glad the home exceeded your expectations!

Just spent a wonderful 'girls weekend away' in this wonderful home. This is a beautiful home with the ambience of ;Carmel charm'. Very spacious, well appointed amenties as though it were an upscale hotel. Great location as advertised with a wonderful short walk to the Village. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in a beautiful yet comfortable and charming home away from home.
Owner response:Hi Annie, thanks so much for the kind, gracious and informative review, it is greatly appreciated!

We enjoyed our stay at this home in Carmel by the Sea. The location was great. You just walk 2 blocks and you are in the downtown shopping area. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need and the bedrooms rooms were all good size. Overall, a good value
Owner response:Thanks Les; the location is especially good during the Concors D'Elegance when you were there due to the parking limitations downtown. Thanks so much for the review!

This house was even bigger and better "in person" than it was in the pictures. There was plenty of room for my husband and me, our two daughters and their husbands and the grandkids. It was well supplied with cooking utensils, dishes, towels, bedding etc. The owner was great to work with as he was easy to get in touch with and answered all questions promptly. We would definitely rent again, without any hesitation!
Owner response:Annie, thank you for the kind comments! We truly enjoy all the space the house provides as well, and we strive to provide the best experience possible by providing the "little things" like plenty of cooking utensels, tv's and iHomes in the bedrooms, and plenty of nice towels and linens. We definitely look forward to your return! We have several guests that return year after year. Cheers, Jeff

It's a great house no matter where it's located, but when it's located a 5 minute walk to the heart of downtown Carmel , you have yourselves a dream vacation spot - park the car and never get back in until you drive home --- great house for family reunions, couples getaways, golfing trips and family vacations - don't want to reveal anymore -or - house will be too popular -and we won't be able to rent again !

Myself and my family have stayed at Carmel by the Sea annually now for the past 4 years. Each stay has been extremely pleasant and the house is beautiful and comfortable. I wouldnt hesitate to refer anyone to stay here. The decor is modern and up to date as are the appliances, tvs, etc. The location really cant get any better with a nice walk into downtown Carmel. The owners always have given us up to date information on current dining which is nice as well. We look forward to returning this year.

My wife and I have stayed at this awesome house on two seperate occasions. Once with two couples and the other time with my family. In both instances we had plenty of space. The house has plenty of bathrooms, bedrooms, and the kitchen is fully stocked with what ever you need (including the two cutting boards and lime juicer we left behind). The living room area is big enough to seat at least seven people comfortably, the dining room seats eight. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer to wash the sandy towels you brought back from the beach. There are plenty of linens and games to play with. The backyard has a great deck sitting area and plenty of green grass. The location of the house is just a stones throw away from the heart of town. It takes about 10 minutes or so to walk from the house down to the beach, which I recommend visting everyday. We also recommend taking a stroll down Scenic Dr., especially in the morning or at dusk. That is the best time to see sea life, dolphins and otters. The walk back up the hill from the beach is not too bad, it does get steep near the end. The payoff though is being back at the house where it is comfortable and relaxing. That is the reason we take vacations, no? I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a house with all the amenities, in a great location, with plenty of room, and a place that gives you a great sense of home.

Thank you for a wonderful family vacation at Pacific Tides in Carmel. We had a great birthday celebration with our three children, their spouses and three grandchildren, and there was plenty of room for all. There’s always risk in renting a property one has never seen from a stranger, but Pacific Tides met our highest hopes and expectations. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of all facilities and the beach, and the premises were clean, well furnished and very comfortable, including for the grandchildren who are all under five. ...we hope to revisit Pacific Tides if the opportunity for another family gathering arises. Thanks again and good luck.

Our four children, their spouses, and our grandchildren surprised us with a 50th wedding anniversary party in Carmel. Their choice of this rental helped make this a joyous occasion. The furnishings are stylish, the rooms clean and large, and the kitchen furnished with plenty utensils and dishes. The location was also ideal. Being able to walk to downtown, or walk to the beach, or take just a short ride to Monterey met everyone's needs. What a great family event and a superb way to start the next 50 years.
Owner response:Donna, I am very glad that the home worked out well for you; and congratulations on 50 years! Jeff

Owner response:Neeta, thank you so much for the kind comments; and we look forward to you staying with us again in the future. Best regards, Jeff
