Why the Owner Chose Key Colony Beach
Key Colony Beach is a quiet and reserved canal front community with a resort-feel to it but a very friendly atmosphere. We liked the small town feel to it and the beautiful houses along our street.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We love iguana watching from the back patio and taking a morning swim in the pool. Fish jump out of the canal all the time and it's not uncommon to see manatee or stingray right of the dock. Boating/fishing/snorkeling is really easy to do anywhere of shore and shells are abundant if you're a collector.

This house is a perfect vacation rental, especially for families! We are currently here on a one week stay. Sadly we only have one day left! The previous post regarding the house was WAY off! He/she was either blind or just made things up. A 6 foot ceiling?! I've never even heard of such a thing! (don't worry this house has plenty high ceilings throughout) We did not find any dangerous maintenance issues at all, not a one. Tile can get slippery when wet, but welcome to Florida everywhere has tile. Like I said the house is a perfect vacation rental, especially for families. The pool and hot tub are clean and tons of fun. The bedrooms are large and nice. We used the dock daily and trust me it's in fine condition. We all wanted to post so soon (while we are still here even!) so that you do not get deterred by the previous poster! He/she is nuts, this house was awesome for us and our family! We have stayed in our fair share of rental properties in the Keys and this one is much better the average! We will definitely be back!

My family and I were looking forward to renting a spacious home with a pool in July 2011. I was severely disappointed in what I found. The entrance of the home had rotten wood around the door. The one of the lower level bedrooms was meant for short people, very low ceiling (6 ft) and no working lights. The vibration from the pool pump directly below the master bedroom was a nuisance when running. The kitchen had multiple lights out in the ceiling. The tack strip between the tile floor and carpet was exposed in two places, creating a hazard. The guest bathroom window was stripped, could not close the window. Duct tape was used to attempt to close the window from the outside. Found mold on bed linens and blankets stored in a bedroom closet. The stairwell leading to the pool was a slip hazard, no non-skid on the wet tile. My sister bruised her ankle after falling from the last two steps. Exposed electrical boxes and broken conduits near the dock and pool deck. The gazebo was rotten itself with a dead bird found near the barbeque grill. The dock was splintered from age, raised nail heads to cut your feet, and three planks were missing from the dock. The biggest concern was the exposed 120 volt electrical outlets and boxes within childrens reach. The landscaping looked like its never been touched. Palm frawns and seeds were scattered all around the pool area. Several areas are overgrown with shrubbery all over the grounds and pathways. The pictures shown in this advertisement were misleading to say the least. I notified the contact of the home several times with issues found, particularly the electrical. He said he was sending an electrician to investigate the problems, but no one showed up. I have been renting in the Keys for over 20 years and this, by far, was the worst experience. To spend a large amount of money for a vacation home, you expect the best. There are multiple owners of this home and none of them have clue of what is going on at the home.

Our family had a great time at this house. It was wonderful! Both floors are extremely spacious and the pool / hot tub and dock area's outside were fantastic. We docked our 19ft boat and had immediate access to the ocean and bay waters. Priceless!! Also, the Key colony area is perfect! We loved the small coffee shops and storefront area along with the private beach. All of the Marathon conveniences (publix etc) are only a 10-15 minute drive away which made runs for supplies very quick and easy. We loved it and we'll be back!!!

We had 2 families visiting for a week. The house was clean and spacious with all of the cooking needs, appliances, etc. The first and second level set up was perfect for the two different families to spend time as a group or separate. The pool was a hit with the kids and for lounging. Perfect weather with just enough breeze. Great location for walks, jogs, sunsets, easy access to everything around. We'll be back!
