Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Adrienne Aldous has a deep fondness for Brighton, Utah. Her roots are in Brighton. She currently owns Mount Majestic Properties, a business dedicated to marketing Brighton as one of the foremost skiing destinations in the United States. Which it is.
Adrienne Aldous’ connection to Brighton, Utah dates back many generations and begins with her great grandfather, James H. Moyle. When he was a young boy, he immigrated to the United States from Scotland with his family when converting to the Mormon faith. He traveled west to the then-territory of Utah with a group of pioneers. Moyle fell in love with Brighton when he first visited the area in 1887 with his bride-to-be Alice Dinwoody and her mother Catherine, who was acting as chaperone on their excursion into the Wasatch Mountains near Salt Lake City.
Why the Owner Chose Brighton
Chez Louisa
In 1956 the first year-round home in Brighton, “Chez Louisa,” was built by James D. Moyle, the grandfather of Adrienne, on a parcel closer to the ski resort. He named it Chez Louisa after his wife Louise. “This is where I learned to ski at age 8”, says Adrienne, “and perfected my turns well into my teens and twenties. Each year our rapidly growing family (cousins and aunts and uncles) would meet on Christmas day for roast beef dinner and picture taking. After dinner, we would gather outside on the deck and hold hands. At the count of five, all of us grandkids were to jump with abandon down into the velvety powder below. My grandfather would take simple motion pictures of us digging our way out of the depth and create funny narratives to share at our next gathering which was always a highlight for us kids.”
Adrienne and her husband, Jay, purchased Chez Louisa in 1993 when it went up for sale after the death of her grandparents, James and Louise. “For the first six years we lived in Chez Louisa year round because we couldn’t afford to own a house in town, as well. Some of our fondest memories are of sledding down the driveway, digging snow caves for sleep outs, cutting down and decorating our Christmas tree, swimming in the lakes and streams, and catching our first fish to eat. Our fist born son Addison learned to ski at age two which was about the same time he learned to walk a straight line. We continue to enjoy winter weekends as well as cool summer nights in this house built by my grandfather.“

Our second consecutive New Year spent at Chez Louisa....and another top 5 vacation for us! The accommodations are excellent for 2 families. We love the spacious kitchen and fireplace area. Our kids love the lower level. If you love skiing, Brighton is a great place to ski. Lots of great runs, not crowded. And the best part.........Chez Louisa is truly SKI IN / SKI OUT - right out the back door!

This house was perfect for our spring break. There were only 5 of us so there was more than enough room. The house was very clean, the beds comfortable. The fireplace was huge and warmed us up nicely. The hot tub was great after several hours of skiing. I would definitely recommend this house. The lift closest to the house was closed but it wouldn't have been good for us since it only went to mostly black slopes. It was only another 100 yds or so to the next lift. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was there was a crack in the foundation in the lower bathroom so the floor was soaked(bad smell too). If you had a large group this would have been very inconvenient.

We had an excellent time with our family and two other couples. The property is exactly as described and we definitely plan to go back. Because it is at the end of the canyon and Brighton does not have a large "village", be prepared to stay around the house, cook, ski, relax, etc. In fact, I'd rather be socked in there than dining out in a more touristy spot. The view and access to the slopes were probably our favorite parts but nothing else really disappointed. Nice kitchen, hot-tub, plenty of fire-wood, etc. Finally, the owners were very helpful and friendly with our many questions. Can't wait to go back.

A wonderful week at Chez Louisa! What a great place to stay. Wake up in the morning, put your skis on, and ski a couple hundred yards down the trail to the Great Western ski lift. In 10 minutes you are at the top of a 10,000 foot mountain ready to hit the powdery slopes. After a couple hours, ski back to your doorstep, and go enjoy some hot cocoa and warm up your toes by the fire. Then, return to skiing. How easy is that? It is truly ski in / ski out! The house is very clean and it includes all the amenities you will need. We had 9 people in our party (2 families) for six days and we had plenty of room. The kitchen is fabulous, and that's where you spend most of your time anyway. Our kids all hung out in the basement and absolutely loved it. Adrienne and Jay are great hosts. We will definitely return! One word of caution....if you don't know the area, make sure you hire a transportation company or you rent a good 4wd. We received 2 feet of snow the day we arrived at the house (and I was really glad I wasn't driving)!

The house was well stocked with all supplies. The house was also very clean and in good condition. Skiing fron the deck was helpful for our family. W are all at different levels and came and went at all times. Night skiing is a blast. The snow was incredible. It snowed the entire time we were there. Glad we had 4 WD vehicle. The owners were nice and attentative. they even brought eggs and cheese when we ran out at that house. I will come back. It wasf fairly priced and there were no surprises. Thanks so much.
