The apartment is in the heart of the Marais, few yard from Place des Vosges, at 5 minutes walking distance from the Ile Saint Louis and from Notre Dame.

The Marais needs no introduction these days!
Much of the area dates from the 16th and 17th Century, featuring narrow streets, fine architecture, boutiques, antique shops, restaurants, cafés. Strict building laws protect its authenticity.
This is where Parisians choose to wander on weekends! The centerpiece is, of course, the Place des Vosges, the purest example of 17th Century architecture, its arcaded facade set around a central park with trees and benches - great for a picnic lunch!

Five minutes walking distance to the Picasso and Carnavalet Museums, 10 mins by foot to Notre Dame, Ile St Louis, , Ile de la Cité, 3 mins. to Bastille Opera and much more! Also a 3-minute walk to the trendiest boutique shopping on rue des Francs-Bourgeois. And just across the street is a wonderful selection of specialty food shops (bakery, deli, cheese, fish, wine and restaurants...) in the very best French tradition!

Located in a privileged position on the rue de Birague, on the second floor of a very well-kept sixteenth century building - a few yards from the Place des Vosges - with boutiques, restaurants, cafés. Enjoy a delightful apartment furnished with antiques while retaining character and charm thanks to its impressive exposed beams and French oak floor.

The majestic dining-living room is composed of a dining-area with a large table with seating for eight and a living-area with two single twin beds which can be made up as a queen-size bed, coffee table, armchairs, armoire, desk, computer with high speed internet and wifi, cable TV (offering hundreds of international channels, including English language channels such as CNN), free international telephone, and stereo with CD player.
Two additional single beds can be added upon request.

The kitchen is equipped with an induction range, microwave/oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and washer-dryer.

The bathroom has a large marble shower large enough for 2 persons to fit easily. The bedroom has a queen-size bed which can be split into 2 twins

You will be greeted by an English-speaking host. He will be available during your stay in case of any need

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 4

Paris is the greatest place in the world!

Owner's Map of Paris Arrondissement 4

I am american and I live in San Francisco- I bought this apartment because I was impressed by the large living-room, the high ceilings and the general impression that I am in a pre-revolution bourgeois building. The view of the streets from the windows reinforce this authenticity. The neighborhood is dynamic and totally parisian. It contains many of the best food stores and restaurants of Paris.

Wonderful apartment and amazing neighborhood!

Thank you, Sauveur. We had a wonderful time pretending to be native Parisiennes (I'm sure I mispelled that!)....your neighborhood is lovely and we will start saving today for a return trip in the future. The apartment was very comfortable and served our needs perfectly. Thanks again for helping to make our trip a great success. Hope to meet you someday! Did I mention that Mike snuck butter back in his suitcase and it made it home in one piece....I think it's the butter (and the air and the water) that makes everything taste better in Paris! I just want you to know that everyone in this family is now in a major funk because we're NOT in Paris. Again, many thanks, Carla

Hello Sauveur, Wanted to let you know what a great, great time we had in Paris. Your apartment was fantastic and we all agreed our Paris stay was the best part of the trip. Hopefully you found everything in good order after we left and it was appropriate to leave some good food items in the refrigerator for the next visitors. I am providing this positive feedback to let anyone who is considering a stay in Paris what a great choice this flat would be. Best regards, Mike

Hello Sauveur, Just a note to say thank you for your hospitality. Robin and I had a most wonderful stay on the Island. The apartment was delightful, and we had a most enjoyable time getting reacquainted with Paris. Please pass on our thanks as well to Dominique – it was great being greeted and having the help. All the best,

Wonderful time!

Hello, Sauveur. My husband and I returned a few weeks ago from Paris, where we stayed in your marvelous apartment. We absolutely loved it, and had an incredible time. It was so comfortable that it quickly felt like home. Every morning we shopped in the neighborhood for items to bring back to the apartment for breakfast. And we loved coming "home" to relax at the end of a busy Paris day. Everything was thoughtfully provided by you to make the experience wonderful and easy. We can't thank you enough. We are already thinking about returning next year. So don't be surprised if you hear further from me in the near future! All the best, Barbara

Our visit the month of September at rue de Birague

Date of Stay: 09/24/11 Review Submitted: 12/12/11

Madam Sauveur, My husband and I enjoyed our stay at your beautiful apt. The place was very clean and neat on our arrival, your host Dominic was very gracious. We really didn't need anything after that, as we have visited the area many times over the years and are very familiar with the apartment concept and the charming area. My only minor complaint is the coffee maker should have an automatic off device. Otherwise, the kitchen was well equipped for our needs. (I do think a light above the stove top would be a good idea) All in all we would stay again at your place and we can easily recommend it to others. Not sure when our next trip will be but you will have our first consideration. Merci, Libby M

Our Experience Was Not Favorable - Very Noisy Location and Apartment Not Well-Maintained

Guest: Mike (Seattle, Washington, USA)
Date of Stay: 09/14/11 Review Submitted: 10/01/11

My wife and I rented the Marais apartment near the Place des Vosges for two weeks in September 2011. Our experience was not favorable. The location was very noisy. There was significant vehicular traffic on the major four lane road in front of the apartment, even at night. There was also a great deal of noise generated on a nightly basis by the people drinking on the patio of one of the restaurants near the apartment that stayed open until after 2 AM thirteen of the fouteen nights that we were there. Because the apartment bedroom was not adequately soundproofed, it was difficult to sleep even with earplugs. In addition, we were awakened in the morning sometimes before 7 AM by workers installing new communication lines (?) under the streets in front of the apartment. Given the amount of constant noise that we encountered during our stay, we're very surprised that noise was not mentioned as a possible issue in previous reviews. We were also disappointed in the state of the apartment when we arrived. The television did not work because of a faulty cable. The washing machine was also broken. It took six days for both of these items to be fixed. The 'free' wireless Internet service was totally unsatisfactory. The Internet was down more than it was up. The Internet service would go down with one of two messages: 'server stopped responding' or 'computer not connected to the Internet'. When we called the owner about this problem, we were told that we should just re-boot the system when the system went down. After re-booting the system 20-30 times a day for a week, we gave up and just waited for the system to come back up on its own. The portable air conditioner was also very loud and struggled to cool the apartment. The air conditioner probably needs a service call before the compressor fails completely. In our opinion, the apartment is not suitable for more than four adults, if that. We noted only one queen sized bed and two twin sized trundle beds in the apartment. In summary, we have rented apartments in many large cities including New York, London, Milan and Rome and have never had such a poor experience. Because of the significant noise at this Marais location, the inadequate soundproofing in the bedroom and because of the other service related problems we experienced in the apartment itself, we can not recommend it and we will not stay here again.

Owner response: This is the first time in 8 years of rental that I get a bad comment about my apartment. Have I known about these problems, I would have immediately offer the guests to move to another apartment. The problems described were principally due to the unusual very hot weather and to a new host who did not know yet well the apartment. Because the temperature was 85 F, even at night, there were a lot of people in the streets all over Paris until late. Unfortunately, there were also street work going on during this period. The apartment has double windows and double glasses everywhere, so when the windows are closed there is no issue with the noise. The internet was perfectly working, but the guests should have been told to connect to the right wifi. The connexion was automatically going thru a wrong wifi instead of the dedicated wifi of the apartment. All the problems are fixed now. The host said that she was very responsive so I do not understand why there is so much animosity in this comment

My family of four spent a wonderful week in Sauveur's terrific Marais apartment. We found the apartment to be everything it was advertised to be: comfortable, convenient, attractive, and in a fabulous location for walking, sight-seeing, simply being a Parisienne! We will stay again as soon as we save the money for another trip!
