CASTELLO DI TODI - UMBRIA - TODI - PERUGIA
Located near the town of Todi and immersed in the green countryside on top of a hill, is a splendid castle dating to the year 1000. Besides its fascinating architecture, the multi-floor castle also has high quality antique furniture with fascinating corridors, antique pavements, stone walls, wooden ceilings, stone spiral staircases and antique libraries. The outside is particularly attractive thanks to the areas with well designed and well kept gardens, plays of water, ponds, swimming pool, panoramic terraces for romantic alfresco meals and for enjoying the splendid view. The proximity of historical centres like Todi, Perugia, Orvieto, Assisi, Siena and Cortona offers the possibility of organizing high quality cultural excursions while living in the fascinating atmosphere of the castle. The property is not recommended for handicapped people and for those with motor difficulties.
PARK: the Castello di Todi has about 5 acres of parkland with large trees. The property is surrounded in part with stone walls. There are various large areas in which to relax with a good book or alfresco eating.
SWIMMING POOL: the 5 x 10 mts pool, open from the last Saturday of April to the first Saturday of October, is provided with all necessary equipment. Its location does not disturb the privacy of the castle.
INTERIORS: The castle has various entrances, one leading from the courtyard into the dining area and the other from the external staircase into the living room. The courtyard entrance leads to the dining area, kitchen, bathroom and access to the panoramic terrace, on the opposite side of the courtyard, perfect for alfresco meals or just relaxing. An internal stone staircase leads to the upper floor (which has access also from the external staircase) with a large living room divided into various zones: conversation, reading and dining. The living room has beautiful antique furniture, pictures and tapestries on the walls and a fireplace. A spiral staircase leads to a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a bathroom with tub serving both rooms; on the same floor is a sitting room with wooden gallery and library as well as a third room with twin beds and a small bathroom with shower. Continuing upwards you come to another floor with a beautiful study and another bathroom with tub. This floor leads to the tower which spreads over two more floors on each of which are twin bedrooms. Both rooms, in keeping with the suggestive privacy (being in the tower), have been intentionally screened off with a characteristic curtain. There is also a double bedroom, accessible from the courtyard by the external staircase, and bathroom with shower. About 100 metres from the castle is the beautifully decorated guesthouse, composed of a twin bedroom and bathroom with shower. It has air conditioning.
