Fun time! Truly gorgeous home!

Pros: This was such a great home to stay in! The listing description doesn't do this place justice. To see all the rooms on the 4 levels of the home, is to fall in love with the space. I actually celebrated my birthday with friends and refreshments in the home. Everyone gushed about how beautiful the home was! For some reason we didn't realize the thermostat heat setting was not turned on, but when we got it together, the home was quite toasty :-). Denise (the owner) was super communicative before our stay, and I would definitely rent the home again for another stay. Cons: I didn't know we'd be responsible for cleaning linens before hand, so it was a bit of a mad rush with 1hr left till check-out to wash the linens. The people who were there before us did not wash one of the set of linens, and one of us ended up climbing into a bed sheet full of someone else's hair...eww!

perfect sapcious gem in cute neighborhood

We stayed for one day in March and also used the house during the day for meeting with our coworkers. Everyone was very impressed and commented on how beautiful and elegant the house is. The house is a beautiful, spacious three story building with a very lovely garden with a table and lawn furniture in the back. The first floor is very large and full of bright light, with a large up to date, modern upscale kitchen, a seating area and a dining table. The second floor has a large bedroom and a kids bedroom plus a bathroom, the third floor two adjunct master bedrooms which are connected through a shared bathroom (but have a solid door between them, so they could be used separately.) In the basement is a very nicely finished family room with its own powder room. Overall the house is very large inside, and perfectly portrays an upper middle class family home comfortably housing a family of 6 to 8 with some elegant modern touches (very upscale nature oriented master bathroom.) The pictures do not do the house justice, it is larger and more beautiful. The neighborhood is charming, with lots of small bars & shops, and very centrally located and safe. The house was easy to get in, renting was easy, internet was on and readily available, tableware, kitchen tools, towels, everything was plenty full provided for. A very good bet for your stay in Philly.

Business trade show accommodation

Guest: Bob (Louisville KY)
Date of Stay: 11/30/10 Review Submitted: 12/06/10

We rented this for pure business need. Had three people manning a trade show booth at the Philly Convention center for three days. Perfect arrangement for such an event - could discuss the days events and chill out together. Would recommend it for such. Short distance to downtown and walking distance to good local bars and restaurants (Burrito at Bishops Collar!). Pictures and descriptions are accurate with one really important problem for us - parking. There just isn't any during hours when working people really need them. Cabs were easy to get (except late at night). We had some minor glitches (television never worked) and we had to wash our own sheets and towels (not good for business folks at all) but all in all it was a good experience and we saved money over the expensive hotels and parking arrangements downtown.

Philly house stay

My family and I spent three days in this home. It is a beautiful home and convient to Philly but we did not have water the first night because the owner failed to pay the water bill. We had ten people in the house and so you can imagine what the toliets looked like by the next morning. We also could not get a hold of the owner to let them know because she was in Europe. The final straw was that when we were returned our security deposit it bounced!!! I don't think I would deal with this person again since they seem to have trouble with money and paying bills.

Owner response:I would like to respond to this review. My husband who owns the house was there and immediately took care of the water issue. We have 2 houses and the water company was paying the bill on the one house and not both. So there was a credit on one house and a deficit on the rental house. There are 2 phone numbers on our lease, my husbands cell phone and my cell phone. I was out of the country dealing with the unexpected death of my father. But they had full access to my husband who again responded immediately when there was an issue with the water. These people did not pay for 10 people to stay at the house. There is a charge for all people over 6 but of course they did not let us know and did not pay the additional charge. Also the house was left a disaster. Never in 4 years of renting have I seen the house so dirty and messy. We had to pay an additional $200 to the cleaning company. And finally, yes there check did bounce. The account we have for the rental property had a check from a renter bounce and it threw the account into the negative. As soon as we realized what had happened 2 checks bounced. We took care of the situation immediately and put money in the account.

I booked this amazing house for a week in September. My friends and I wanted somewhere to stay as we were coming over to Philadelphia for a friend’s wedding. Booking it was easy and Denise couldn’t be more helpful. Coming with us was my 6 month old Daughter and upon asking Denise where we could purchase a high chair from she said not to worry she would buy one that would be there for our arrival. We walked into the City everyday and it is a very pleasant 30 minute walk. Cabs are everywhere though. At the end of the road (down the hill) is a busy bar called the Bishops Collar. We would often stop on our way back to the house to have a quick drink and a bite to eat. There are other good restaurants around the area. The Italian across from the Bishops Collar does a good pizza and then there is Jack’s Fire House! Denise was very accommodating with our check out time too, letting us stay an extra few hours so we weren’t at the airport too early. Overall, everyone loved the house, there were 7 adults staying and the house was big enough. The only thing that could have improved our stay at the house was a garden table and some more garden chairs, to make the most of the outside space and the sunshine! We will be defiantly be booking again next time we visit Philadelphia.

We rented this house recently over Memorial Day Weekend for my graduation at the Kimmel center. We had a wonderful experience here at the house. Lots of space for my whole family (ten people!), clean and beautiful with many bedrooms to accommodate everyone. The area is very safe and within walking distance to the Art Museum and many restaurants and bars. I was worried about parking as there is no available off street parking but we brought five cars with us, and believe it or not, we all found spots on the street within a 1 block. Hailing a taxi for an easy trip to the city was very easy as you can walk 2 blocks and easily be picked up, with a cost of 7 dollars to center city. The only trouble we had was the air conditioning was not yet on for the season as it was still spring, and it happened to be a pretty warm weekend and it was considerably warm in the house. Had it been a week later we would have had no trouble. Thank you for a great weekend!!

Owner response:The air condition can be turned on or off as a guest needs. the digital registers are on the first and second floors. All you needed to do was turn it on. Sorry you missed that.

WOW what a house!! The house itself is beautiful, with modern amenities, everything updated and done to the nines. The four bedrooms are very spacious, and the two full bathrooms are brand new and spectacular! The basement made a cozy hangout for the three young boys on our trip. Finding the house fully stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, coffee filters, packets of Splenda, etc., was a treat. The house was absolutely immaculate as well. The best part of this house, though, is the location -- walk to nearly everything we wanted to do. We were just a few blocks from the Eastern State Penitentiary Museum (trust me on this, make reservations for a tour there, it's amazing), the Art Museum, the Franklin Institute, and more. Dinner at Jack's Firehouse was wonderful, and the neighbors came out and said hi when they saw us!! Thank you for a wonderful weekend. Your home provided the perfect base to start and end our busy days! Jen

This house is beautiful and clean. Located in a safe area of Philly. My family and I enjoyed the space and amenties. If your traveling with a family, it is senseless to pay high hotel bills. Everything you need is in this property, and it's priced just right. Not to mention, the owners will do their best to accommodate your needs just like a hotel...only better! We loved it.

We stayed here for a couple of nights while Mom was having surgery. Denise could not have been more accomodating. The house is very nicely appointed with excellent fit and finish. Location was easy to get to if not so easy to park. The neighborhood was friendly and safe. I would highly recommend this for a large party, vacation or business.
