There is an additional cleaning fee of R450 that is added onto the weekly rental figure.
A 25% non-refundable deposit of the total rental amount is required on booking to secure the booking.
Paypal is the preferred form of payment.

The balance of the rental amount must be paid prior to arrival or on arrival.

Due to the fact that the owners do not live on-site in Pringle, and that they prefer to prepare the house and welcome guests personally, the minimum booking of 1 week at a time, Sat to Sat, is preferable.
However arrival dates do not always work out so cleanly so it is possible to negotiate stays of slightly different lengths with different arrival and departure days.

Note: Until confirmed, rates are subject to change without notice.

Pringle Bay is situated in the heart of the Overberg, 86 km away from the centre of Cape Town on the east coast of South Africa. It offers a very different holiday experience in the Western Cape, it is the small village, beach type holiday away from the highly populated tourist attractions of Cape Town.

It has its own areas of interest in close proximity. The Overberg is known as the Whale Coast, with Southern Right Whales visiting most of the bays along this coast. It is also the heart of 'fynbos', a family of plant species including the famous 'Protea' which grows in abundance in the area. In fact the greatest number of fynbos species occur in the Cape Overberg region.

The pristine beaches are ideal for swimming, surfing and kite boarding. There are culinary delights that await you with some of the regions outstanding wines. Visit the Penguin colony at Stony Point in Bettys Bay just 5 km away. The Harold Porter Botanical Gardens, also in Bettys Bay, offers tranquil botanical gardens and an excellent restaurant and tea garden with spectacular views of the Kogelberg ravine.

If hiking is your thing, then choice abounds, all of the mountains around Pringle offer informal hiking trails or just 14 km away is the Kogelberg Biosphere reserve with its well signposted trails and over 1600 plant species of which about 150 are endemic.

A little further along the coastal road is the town of Kleinmond with a larger supermarket, a pharmacy, more restaurants and banks.

And then 30km away is Hermanus, world famous for the prolific visiting Southern Right Whales, and its open air Food, Craft and Flea market.

Also available is shark cage diving in Gansbaai, the golf estate of Arabella near Kleinmond and the Green Mountain Wine Route near Elgin.

The Western Cape experiences a Mediterranean type climate, which simply means winter rainfall, which is why much of the agriculture in the region is viticulture (wine). The prevailing wind in summer is the South Easter, otherwise known as the Cape Doctor, with the North Wester as the prevailing wind in winter.

Summer months are from mid November through to end of March. Daytime temperatures in the height of summer can reach 35 degrees centigrade with cool temperate evenings averaging about 16 degrees centigrade.

Winter months are May to August. Temperatures will range from 12 to 7 degrees Centigrade. Because of the moderating factor of the ocean, Pringle Bay will never go below freezing point. Most of the Capes rain will fall through this months but winter can also produce some stunningly invigorating days, with clear skies and temperatures of up to 20 degrees.

Spring, which is September to mid November, and autumn, which is April and May can surprise you with some of the Cape finest weather with warm temperatures and little or no wind. However due to the mountainous topography of the Pringle Bay area, and indeed the whole Cape Peninsula, wind in one area can mean calm in another area. In fact, the weather in Pringle Bay can differ slightly to Bettys Bay which is only 6 km away.

Owner info

Year Purchased: 2005

About the owner: Roger and Pat Ingarfield live in the suburb of Plumstead in the Cape. They have both lived in Cape Town for most of their lives.

Why the Owner Chose Pringle Bay:
Pringle Bay became a natural choice of weekends away because of its close proximity to Cape Town and its wonderful, small village, rural lifestyle. By comparison to the beaches around Cape Town, which can be very crowded, the huge Pringle Bay beach offered space to walk dogs, throw a Frisbee, swim in the sea or lagoon and never, even on Christmas day, feel crowded. We rented holiday houses at first but the desire to own a house in Pringle Bay was grew, so in 2004, we bought the plot 680 Anne Road, and co-designed the house with an architect.

The Unique Benefits at this Guest House:
The real idea of the house is indoor/outdoor open plan living. When the glass doors are folded back the large verandah becomes part of the lounge/kitchen and creates one large living area. The house has been orientated so that if there is wind the verandah protected. We kept the style of the kitchen very rustic, to reinforce the beach house feel. The floors are all tiled with terracotta tiles for hard wearing except in the bedrooms which have wooden laminate flooring for a warmer feel underfoot. We also decided to install a gas water heating system, so that no matter whether there are 2 or 6 people having showers, everyone will get hot water.
