The Flip Flop Inn is a beautiful oceanfront beach rental house located on the warm water on the shores of North Topsail Beach in the Village of Stump Sound on Topsail Island.

This beach house has everything you could possibly want in a North Carolina beachfront rental: spectacular views of the ocean and the sound and island; direct beach access; community pool and tennis courts; and just about every amenity you can imagine. You will definitely be spoiled in this spacious 4500+ square foot luxurious custom built home, with an ocean or sound view (or both) from every room!


Amenities inside the house will make you feel like royalty. The first floor of the inverted floor plan contains three master suites (two kings, one queen), each with its own bath. A bunk room with a pyramid bed and a bunk bed and is cheerfully decorated with a colorful fish motif. A hall bath with a Jacuzzi complements this design. Rounding out the first floor is a laundry room with large washer and dryer.

The second floor, the main living area, contains the master suite, great room, dining room and kitchen. Cypress paneling, TWO-STORY CATHERAL CEILING with tall windows make the great room truly spectacular. You’ll find here a home theater surround sound system and plenty of space for family activities.

The dining area is spacious enough for large groups to dine together. You'll love the gourmet kitchen, which features a Jenn-Air range, two ovens (one convection), two microwaves, warming drawer, two dishwashers, large refrigerator, and a free standing ice maker. There is even an additional medium-sized refrigerator in the pantry. The master suite is elegantly decorated and contains a king bed, his-and-hers vanities, and a vertical shower spa complete with a rain shower head.

Above the greatroom looms the loft, which provides great views of the beach and ocean. On the loft level (3rd level) you'll find a sitting area, bedroom six with view of ocean and sound, equipted w/ a queen and daybed (twin w/pullout twin), and a seventh bedroom (queen and twin) with a view of the beach and ocean.

Above the loft is the Widow's Watch/ Tower Room, where you will enjoy the breath-taking panoramic views of the island, the ocean, the sound, sunsets and sunrises.

The house features ceramic tile flooring throughout, high speed internet access, an elevator providing access to the first and second floor, and cypress and pine paneling. There is a whole house sound system for your listening pleasure.

Play with the board games or puzzles that are in the house or enjoy the PS2 or PS3 (bring your games and extra controllers) You'll find a Port-A-Crib and a high chair for your tiniest vacationers. Kids young and old will be entertained with the full size air hockey and foosball tables.

The outside of the house is as amazing as the inside. The Flip Flop Inn sits on an Oceanfront-B Lot, with beach access only a few feet away. Beautiful landscaping and ample parking welcome you as you approach the house. A picnic table and built-in charcoal grill make for pleasant outdoor dining.

There are six decks/porches totaling over 1650 square feet of outdoor space. Relax on one of these decks and enjoy the glorious views of ocean and sound. There are two enclosed outdoor showers with both hot and cold water. Nearby, there is a community pool (ten pool passes are provided) and tennis courts.

  • We LOVE this house! We enjoyed our stay at Flip Flop Inn so much. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and so comfortable, the bathrooms are a dream, and the kitchen is very well-equipped. I always wished for a kitchen with a double oven -- this kitchen has 3 ovens, plus 2 refrigerators. I love this kitchen. The best part is the new hot tub! We very much enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub with a wine cooler and watching the dolphins swim by in the ocean. It doesn't get much better than this! The decks are beautiful - the upper rear deck is a delight at any time of the day or night, and if it gets too hot, we just move to the deck on the front side of the house and sit in the rocking chairs and enjoy the canal view. We look forward to our vacation at Flip Flop Inn all year long -- and are already planning our 2010 trip!

  • This is a wonderful vacation home with all the features that make a get-away effortless. The views are breathtaking from almost any room. The beach is great, we went swimming everyday. The community pool was good for exercise. We rented bikes for the week from a local outfitter, the neighborhood streets are not congested and you can ride for miles with no traffic. We played tennis at the community court. The grill on the lower patio served us well, as we made almost all our meals there as the sun set and the cooler temperatures with ocean breezes soothed us after a sunny day at the beach. We loved everything. Susan Frank was the best host to work with. She is great and gave us so much helpful information about the area. Grocery stores are close and well stocked. There is a very nice wine store about one mile from the Flip Flop Inn. We loved every minute, it just went too fast. The widow's watch or as we came to call it, the watchtower, is the best place to view sunrise and sunset. Beautiful.

  • The Flip Flop Inn was the perfect place to celebrate our Mother's 85th birthday. Great beach for swimming, sunning, surfing, and searching for sea shells. House has many amenities--and as everyone says, a great kitchen - stocked with so many cooking utensils and serving pieces. From the beach area looking back, the Flip Flop Inn is a show piece. A block also from the well-kept pool (even though we didn't use it as there were other things to do)! Wonderful great room - and plenty of places to 'escape' if you need to! Homeowners are a pleasure to work with.

  • We just spent a perfect week at the beach at the Flip Flop Inn. Our family is spread out, and this was the first I've seen some of my siblings or mother in more than a year. The reunion was ideal, due in no small part to the home itself. Not having to worry about linens or an un-stocked kitchen helped us focus simply on being together. We were also so happy to have direct beach access, plenty of sand toys and chairs, and comfortable beds to sleep in at night. I can't recommend this home strongly enough. No other beach vacation will ever measure up to this one for any of us.

Whatever you needed was there. A great time was had by all and we hope to have the opportunity to spend our vacation here again.   • We celebrated my parents 60 Wedding Anniversary at the Flip Flop Inn. What a great stay. At our peak, we had 26 family members who were able to join in the celebration. We ranged in ages 15 years and up. The house is unbelievable. The view is breathtaking. The kitchen is well stocked. It has everything you can think of. The house is roomy and beautifully decorated. It has everything you need beach chairs, boogie boards, beach toys, cornhole etc. The added bonus we enjoyed was the Widow's Walk. This house truly has it all.

  • We (grandparents, 3 couples + 7 children ages 18mos - 17 yrs old) stayed here in August 2008 and had an absolutely wonderful time. The house is extraordinary and beautiful and comfortable. I don't think I wore shoes the whole week! Gorgeous views, tons of room (kids loved the widow's walk room up top), lots of extras like sand toys and boogie boards, outdoor shower, etc. Susan was incredibly helpful and kind both before and during the rental period. Absolutely wonderful! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with people!

  • Wonderful home very accomadating for large groups we had 4 generations (20 persons) from a toddler to Great Grandma and Grandpa. Spaces are large for gathering inside and out on porches. Plenty of nooks and cranies to find reprieve to read, find peace and quiet or enjoy the views of the ocean or sound. All rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable. We used their suggestion on where to purchase fresh seafood and on more than one occasion enjoyed the catch of the day, prepared in their well equiped kitchen that met all our culinary needs for the week. Owners are very kind and made me feel like a long time friend that they wanted to share their home with. Definitely a slice of paridise within our means.

  • Our immediate family (six adult children & spouses, 13 grandchildren, and two of us) from Georgia, SC, and Maryland, stayed at the Flip Flop Inn the week of July 12-19. The house is lovely, and the kitchen is the best equipped of any we have seen in our 30+ years of beach vacations. Plenty of seating space in the kitchen allowed us to eat together at every meal. The rooms are spacious and comfortable in addition to being beautifully decorated. Our children (six toddlers, 6 grade school age, and one college age)all enjoyed the beach...it was wonderful to have private access, and extra chairs and beach toys were furnished. The outside bathroom and showers made it easy for all to clean up before going inside. All in all, we had a wonderful time at Flip Flop Inn. Susan, the owner,was a delightful hostess and checked on us before, during, and after our visit to be sure that everything was in order. We so appreciated this attentiveness to us and to detail.   • Had a great 4th of July week at the Flip Flop Inn. It really exceeded our expectations. We had 20 people stay there (11 kids) and it never seemed like we were on top of each other and we had extra beds. I can truthfully say that there is no better place in the area to watch fireworks on the 4th! Unbelievable! All but one bedroom have ocean views but that's what you get when you are the last one to show up. The owners checked on us while we were there to make sure everything was in order. I hope to get a chance to spend another week there.
