My husband, dog and I had a wonderful stay at the Mermaid boathouse. The location of the house is sublime; it is such a private tranquil spot. We enjoyed many an evening sitting on the deck enjoying a glass of wine watching the most incredible sunset. The flip side of that was the romantic sound of the foghorn in the distance during a storm. The cottage itself is tiny but perfect. It's a great combination of an exquisite designers abode and a home. Such thought has gone into this house that features luxurious local linens, fine English china and work from local artists. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the owners have invested in a chef’s barbecue. The arrival gift was such a lovely and personal touch. We also adored the outdoor shower, so much in fact that we didn't use the indoor bathroom once! The Mermaid Boathouse is a truly outstanding holiday home that we hope to return to.

The Mermaid Boathouse is nothing short of a dream. Not only is the home itself amazing but it is the experience once feels there that is most profound. It's quiet and secluded if you want privacy and peace yet it's minutes away from some of the Island's best restaurants, shopping, entertainment and culture. With a double water view from the huge outside deck--the lake at the forefront, the ocean right behind it , one can read, reflect , write and entertain in true vineyard style. I've spent a lot of time on Martha's vineyard in a v ariety of rental properties but this experience has been the best and I will continue to stay there on all future visits. It feels like I've finally found my own home on the Island.

We had the privlege of staying at The Mermaid Boathouse for four days and are still suffering from withdrawal symtoms. The setting is truly amazing. As you relax on the crisp white padded Adirondack chairs located on the generous wrap around porch, you gaze upon two separate bodies of water. Sail boats and ferries cross the bay in the distance, while stunning white swans swim directly in front of you in Crystal Lake. It is apparent that the owners take great pride in this home, as each piece of furniture, and each accessory appears to have been carefully, and meticulously selected. The bedding is magnificent, and the home is calm and serene. It's an embodiment of casual and comfortable living space, with an edge of sophistication. The location is perfect, as you feel alone, but not far away. As a renter, you may use this enchanting cottage as a romantic getaway for two, or a memorable bonding vacation for the family. One thing is certain,,,,we will return.

Mermaid Boathouse is a very special cottage with a million dollar view. I could have spent my entire time enjoying the deck and watching the sailboats in the distance. The house is a short drive (or bike ride) from Vineyard Haven and is walking distance to Oak Bluffs but is also very quiet and private. The interior is both charming and functional. We entertained a number of times during our stay and found the house well stocked with everything that we would need to have guests. The owner is above and beyond the most responsive landlord that I have ever dealt with when renting a summer house. I will certainly rent this house again.

I've been renting a week at the Mermaid for the last 5 years. It's become like a second home to me and my husband. The owners, Jill and Scott, are wonderful. The cottage is completely charming and the view and location are perfect. It's within walking distance to OB, yet completely private and tranquil.

We just returned from MV and the Mermaid Cottage. Loved it! It was the first time we ever rented on house on the Vineyard. We have always stayed at the Harborview or the Charlotte Inn. We had a wonderful time. The location is great and the cottage is completely charming. What a great experience!

My Mom and I stayed at the Mermaid Boathouse for 5 days in May. The house is DARLING, beautifully furnished and located on a beautiful MV pond with wiews of the ocean a block away. The 2 master bedrooms are plush, the beds comfortable. Linens and towels upscale. the kitchen is FULLY furnished. All refurbmishments are new this year. I highly recommend this property and would rent it again for myself. The owner is helpful, friendly, and concerned for your comfort.

what a great time i had at the cottage. it is a little dream come true. the owners have gone to great lengths to make this an a+ property from the fine china to the finest linens and the greatest decor. you will not want to leave that is for sure so with that in mind i booked to return this august with my family/friends. We wish we were all still on the Vineyard at Deacon Vincent cottage! My two adult sons, daughter, daughter-in-law, 4 month old baby, Henry, and my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful family vaction there September 7 through the 14th. The cottage is well located, charmingly decorated, very clean, and everything you need for a beachy vacation is there including beach towels and chairs. The open layout of the kitchen, dining and living area worked perfectly for us. We could all be together without being on top of one another. And we were also able to find respite from "togetherness" in the private spaces. Most of us used the outdoor shower exclusively and wouldn't rent a house without one. Because of the baby, we ate in almost every night and enjoyed some truly decadent meals prepared by my two sons who are great cooks. I worked along side them and though the kitchen is compact it is efficient and easy to work in. Everything we needed was there including sharp knives (very unusual in a rental as you may know)! Weather permitting, cocktails and dinner on the deck was the best and we were pleasantly surprised at the absence of mosquitoes. Henry and I (Grandma) spent many soothing hours in the front porch swing. Be sure to locate the welcome binder when you first arrive. Jill (the owner) has provided lots of great information and recommendations for food, shopping, activities, etc. all over the island. She was really great to work with. Though our weather was "mixed" we fit in golf, tennis (both at Farm Neck), charter fishing, biking, beach time and a family portrait taken at South Beach with a local photographer. Can't wait to see the proofs. Thankyou, again Jill, for renting to us. We look forward to returning another time.

We loved our stay at Deacon Vincent Cottage, it was convenient and comfortable in every way and furnished with love and eye for detail. Jill Katz, the owner, went out of her way to make us feel at home and to make sure that we had everything we needed. She went to great lengths to find us a great babysitter and to arrange for cribs, bikes and a high chair to make our stay more comfortable. It felt like we were staying in the home of a friend.

My family - husband, two sons, two daughters-in-law, and two granddaughters - and I had a wonderful vacation in this lovely Martha's Vineyard home. It is a charming property, nicely decorated, yet comfortable, with a great layout. I liked the openess of the living, dining and kitchen areas where we could all be together. There are also several areas where one can enjoy some quiet time as well. We loved the deck with its large table and gas grill and the front porch with its wicker furniture. My two year old granddaughter loved the outdoor shower! It's a great location - close to both South Beach and Edgartown and in a quiet neighborhood, off one of the main roads. Jill was great and was very helpful in making sure our stay was a pleasant and happy one.

My whole family had a wonderful week at the cottage. Its really an adorable place with a great backyard for the kids and a wraparound porch for letting your cares drift away. Terrific location - just a short bike ride into Edgartown or the beach. House was really well stocked - with beach towels,beach chairs, bikes and all the pots and pans you could ask for in the kitchen. Jill was a great "landlady" - - eager to ensure all our needs were taken care of. Fantastic experience all around. We hope to come back for more!

My children, my friends, and I had the best time at Deacon Vincent Way Cottage. I believe we were the first tenants of the season (in May). It was a perfect week for us all. The cottage was so charming and cozy, yet slept all eight of us easily. Every amenity was considered by the owners for our comfort. We had a wonderful lobster dinner one night on the back deck, loved the outdoor shower, and really enjoyed sitting on the front porch swing watching the sunsets every night. The kitchen was well thought out for those of us who like to cook. Great sense of privacy and so close to the beautiful South Beach. The owner, Jill, was so helpful and available by phone or email at all times, if needed.

Nice house. Terrific location. Convenient to South Beach, the Katama airfield and "downtown" Edgartown. Property is attractive and well-maintained. Owners are exceedingly courteous and responsive to questions. Highly recommended.

My family and I really enjoyed are stay at Deacon Vincent Way! The neighborhood was great for the kids. Two minute car ride to South beach was excellent, especially because I do the packing and unpacking! Definitely would recommend this home to families. We loved the ability to cook at home and eat on the porch, especially for the kids. Very clean and organized home. Thanks again!

My family and I were one of the first to experience the accomandations at the DV cottage (June 17th-24th 2007).We were drawn to Mother's Vineyard to celebrate a wedding and used the opportunity to have a family reunion.The cottage was a perfect setting for the reunion.There was ample space for 4 families to share without getting claustraphobic.The design of the house lends itself to large groups. The outside porches both front and back were a welcome and useful addition to the house.The gardens surrounding the property were lovely.The way the front garden is designed gives privacy to the cottage.During our visit we were lucky to watch the pink roses bloom. The cottage is well located . Very close to Edgartown for shopping and restaurants as well as minutes from the beach. Welcome to the Deacon Vincent Cottage in Katama in Edgartown, MA. You will find this cottage to be the perfect home away from home. We had a wonderful stay at the "Mermaid Boathouse" in June. It is in a perfect location- close to Vinyard Haven, walking distance to Oak Bluffs, in a quiet beautiful residential area. We loved our daily walks along the Ocean and in the neighborhood. The view from the house is spectacular- across a pond to the Ocean and Sound beyond. You can sit on the deck and watch the ferries and other boats go in and out of Vinyard Haven Harbor. The house is great- nicely furnished with a large open living area and great bedrooms with very comfortable beds. There is a fully equipped kitchen that is small but extremely functional. We had a great time cooking meals in the kitchen and on the grill outside. Why go to a restaurant when you have such an wonderful spot to eat at your own house? We had many incredible meals watching the sun set over the Sound. I hope we can return to the "Mermaid Boathouse" this year!

We fell in love with Martha's Vineyard and the "Mermaid Cottage". It was so perfect. The cottage has a great location. We could take walks along the sea wall or walk into town. In celebrating a very special birthday I asked three of my most favourite friends to join me for a week long sojourn in Martha's Vineyard at Mermaid Boathouse. Since the owner knew it was my birthday upon my arrival there awaited me a bottle of champagne with a happy birthday note. A wonderful arrangement of flowers welcomed us all on the front dining table. Four women and one bathroom and we managed quite nicely since we are all such good friends. The accommodations were charming with every thought for the comfort of the guests. I would highly recommend Mermaid Boathouse as a peaceful haven yet a close enough walk to Oak Bluffs to enjoy some good food and good shopping. A great holiday destination!

Mermaid Cottage is beautiful!!!! From the picture perfect view outside to the wonderful decorations inside the cottage is even better than I dreamed it would be. The beds were amazing, my 15 year old son Sean said it was his best week of sleep ever and my 12 year old Ashlyn loved the loft for sleeping! And easy walk or bike ride to the beach and convenient access to Vineyard Haven and Oaks Bluff make this a prime location for anyone who wants to truly enjoy the Vineyard. My only regret is that I only booked one week - it all ended too soon!

My friends and I stayed at the Mermaid's Cottage for a week in July and absolutely fell in love with this house. The cottage is nothing less than charming; beautifully decorated from the Pottery Barn dishes to the plush towels and bedding. The owners went to great lengths to see that we had everything we needed. The Mermaid's Cottage is private and quiet (and very romantic!) yet it is minutes away from all the Vineyard has to offer. The Mermaid Boathouse is nothing short of a dream. Not only is the home itself amazing but it is the experience once feels there that is most profound. It's quiet and secluded if you want privacy and peace yet it's minutes away from some of the Island's best restaurants, shopping, entertainment and culture. With a double water view from the huge outside deck--the lake at the forefront, the ocean right behind it , one can read, reflect , write and entertain in true vineyard style. I've spent a lot of time on Martha's vineyard in a v ariety of rental properties but this experience has been the best and I will continue to stay there on all future visits. It feels like I've finally found my own home on the Island.

what a great time i had at the cottage. it is a little dream come true. the owners have gone to great lengths to make this an a+ property from the fine china to the finest linens and the greatest decor. you will not want to leave that is for sure so with that in mind i booked to return this august with my family/friends. My Mom and I stayed at the Mermaid Boathouse for 5 days in May. The house is DARLING, beautifully furnished and located on a beautiful MV pond with wiews of the ocean a block away. The 2 master bedrooms are plush, the beds comfortable. Linens and towels upscale. the kitchen is FULLY furnished. All refurbmishments are new this year. I highly recommend this property and would rent it again for myself. The owner is helpful, friendly, and concerned for your comfort.
