Lovely home in wonderful location

My husband, son and I stayed in Casa Romantica last January for a week. The home is absolutely lovely, with bedrooms for six. The two story house is filled with art, both classic Mexican and American contemporary. There are several patios and balconies, with views of the Parroquia. There are so many of these that I hesitate to give the number, because I may be incorrect. Suffice it to say there are many places to relax and enjoy fountains, flora and fauna, and spectacular views. Several blocks down is the Jardin; coming back, of course, is up. There is a great cantina on the corner serving tapas and drinks. Luz, the housekeeper, is spectacular at correcting one's Spanish and preparing meals of one's choosing. We hope to come back.

Recommended for:Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Exceptional vacation home

I was looking for a place to go in Mexico on VRBO and I and stumbled upon San Miguel. After submitting my request for this rental the owner graciously called me and we spoke for quite a while about San Miguel and her home. I was very excited after our conversation to visit this town and stay in this house with my mom, who was celebrating her birthday. The home was much more than what we expected...the views are amazing, the location was perfect, the showers hot, the beds extremely comfortable!!! I LOVED staying in this home. Luz, her housekeeper was exceptionally kind and helpful. The owner recommended to us numerous restaurants in San Miguel that we were able to go to and they were amazing!!! I highly recommend anyone to stay in this lovely home in this very charming little gem of a town in the heart of Mexico.

My wife and I spent 6 weeks in Casa Romantica the last two weeks of February and all of March, 2009. We agree with the comments that have been left previously, but I should add that the house actually exceeded our expectations with its lush multi-terraced garden and multiple rooftop decks and views. As much as we enjoyed the accommodations, we were equally enthralled with the location and immediate neighborhood. The narrow street in front of the house actually has three tiny grocery stores in a half block span, and there is a very nice bar/restaurant right on the corner where we enjoyed excellent meals several times. The housekeeper, “Luz”, is very likable and helpful. Although she doesn’t speak English, she is very good about understanding and anticipating your needs, and communication is not a problem. Getting to know Luz was one of the highlights of our trip. During part of our time in San Miguel, family and friends came to stay with us for a week at a time, and the privacy of the separate casita worked out very nicely for everyone. I also should add that we found the owner to be very friendly and considerate. When my wife developed some medical problems that required her to be in the hospital for part of our stay, the owner of this property went out of her way to offer information, assistance, and flexibility regarding the length of our stay. We appreciated that very much.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful month in this delightful home in December and January. The owner is absolutely charming and very helpful (with terrific taste in books and music). The beautiful housekeeper, Luz, could not have more hospitable. What wonderful meals we - and she - prepared! The home is spacious and light - we loved the artwork. The view from the terrace is spectacular - especially the sunsets. My friend, who distributes French linens and stayed in another home in SMA, was very, very envious of our bed linens. The location is perfect - close to the market, the park, the square and the restaurants and shops - but still in a beautiful, old neighborhood. We love SMA and Casa Romantica and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys life.

Comments: A lovely, tranquil house, in the middle of a delightful part of San Miguel. The location is perfect, enough away from the busy and more touristy part of town, very much part of the life of the people living there. There is a totally private little garden, gorgeous plantings, exotic colors, and the view from the patio allows you to see beyond the town to the distant mountains. The house is charmingly decorated - with lovely local details throughout. It is quiet and is a perfect place to rejuvenate oneself, or with another.

My family and I spent a delightful week in this enchanting home. We were six adults, a 3 year old, and a baby and were quite comfortable there, from the moment we walked in the door. The photos do not do it justice, nor do they really capture the calm, relaxing atmosphere. This is all not to mention the warm and inviting town where it's situated. I thought we'd be taking day trips to other towns, but there was so much to experience within walking distance that we happily never left San Miguel de Allende for that whole week. We were so lucky to have found this tranquil, beautiful home. I can't wait to go back, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
