This listing was as described and in excellent condition. Everything you require was available and shops and restaurants where all within easy walking distance. It was very comfortable and although we were only there for a short stay we enjoyed the pool, spas and on site restaurant. Hope to visit again for a longer stay in future.

My husband and I and our two small children (ages 1 and 3) spent one week in Barbie's place in January. A frequent business traveler, I had honestly high hopes but low expectations. I have to say, we were completely thrilled with the condo and with Barbie's level of service and warmth. Everything was absolutely ideal suited to our family. Great kitchen, great beds, big bath tubs, close to the pool but not *too* close. The waterslide was an enormous hit with my 3-year old daughter. She and my husb went down it approximately 1 billion times. I spent a lot of time in the keiki pool with our 1 year old. When we tired of the pool scene, we wandered the few steps down to the beach or the cafe. We explored the island a few days. It was a perfect base to do so. Barbie had many kid friendly items available at the condo and was able to recommend a rental company for some of my specific needs (jogging stroller, etc). I was amazed and delighted to find that she coordinated with the rental company before our arrival and allowed them to access the condo, so everything was waiting for us as soon as we walked in the door. When you're juggling kids, it's the littlest things that make a difference! We had such a wonderful stay that we booked our next trip to Kauai - this time 10 DAYS at Barbie's condo! - as soon as we returned.

Our family celebrated a fantastic New Year at Waipouli. The condo was perfect for our family of 4 + grandma. Mom & Dad were thrilled to have our own bathroom and a king bed, grandma was very happy with her own room and not having to sleep on a pull-out. Of course the kids loved the super pool and beach in front of the condo. Every morning our 3 year old would sit by the window and give us status on the pool workers, if the slides were turned on, and the number of kids that were swimming. Most of my concerns prior to booking were erased as soon as we walked into the condo. The pictures on VRBO are very good. The condo gives a great view of the pool and you can see the ocean through the buildings. The noise level from the pool wasn't very bad, except for the entry gate to the pool slamming every once in a while (this stopped around 6pm when the sun went down). The pool was not overly crowded and security was prevalent at night. We took a walk every night around 9pm and never felt in any danger. Our family has spent a lot of time in condos in Hawaii so we've gotten used to "condo life" and having to stock up on everything at Costco the first day. We were extremely surprised and thrilled to find the condo stocked with everything except groceries. Full bottles of sunscreen & shampoo/conditioner, paper towels/TP, cooking seasonings, cleaning supplies (a little too many), laundry detergent, coffee, hair dryers in each bathroom, beach toys, boogie boards, scuba gear, board games, books, baby's playpen (god sent), and even fresh limes from the owner's house. With Safeway directly across the street, we spent a total of 2 hours grocery shopping, settling in, baby proofing, and then we were off to the pool. Unlike most places on Kauai, Waipouli was still going strong at midnight on New Years Eve. Fireworks on the beach (illegal, but fun to watch) and a champagne toast at Oasis made us feel like we were actually staying at a resort instead of the retirement condo's we've stayed at in the past on Kauai. The following week quieted down and returned to peaceful Kauai with plenty of families at the pool and most lights out by 10pm. To say we had a great trip would be an understatement. I've looked all over Kauai and for the price, location, and amenities you can't beat staying at Waipouli. We would definitely stay in this condo again.

The weather on Kauai wasn't great during our stay, and both my husband and daughter were sick most of the time. Thankfully, the apartment had everything we needed to make the vacation still enjoyable. The resort is clean, secure, close to Safeway and Longs (cold medicine, juice, soup at the ready), and quiet. I most definitely will stay here again during our next trip to Kauai! Thanks Barbie!

My wife, 21 and 22 year-old daughters and I stayed at Don and Barbie's condo from March 9-23, 2011. We attended our nephew's beach wedding with 35 other guests and everything was absolutely amazing. From the moment we stepped into the condo we knew this would be better than home-away-from-home. Everything was top quality from flooring, furniture, appliances, linen, towels and more. The beds were incredibly comfortable and it was spotless. I doubt that anything else on the island would compare. The fridge had all the condiments needed and there were books, dvd's, beach chairs and more to make our stay as comfortable as possible. This is definitely the place we will stay if we return. The property was beautifully maintained and staff very friendly and helpful. The lazy river pool and hot tubs were perfect for both children and seniors. The 2 large bbq's were a bonus and we made use of them for a few group meals. The beach in front of the condo was not suitable for swimming, but just a short drive away were beaches perfect for swimming, snorkeling or surfing. We were lucky enough to see monk seals sleeping on our beach on 3 occasions and the volunteers roped off the area so the seals wouldn't be disturbed while they slept. Made for some great photos!! Be sure to take your camera with you wherever you go. My wife and daughters toured the island with Safari Helicopter Tours and loved it. I chose to remain on "terra firma" and enjoyed the video of the tour later in the week. I should have also stayed on shore when we took Andy's Catamaran Tour of the Napali Coast. The view of the island was spectacular and we had whales, bottle-nose and spinner dolphins swimming right under the boat. We didn't get to snorkel due to water conditions and in fact the waves were the worst the captain had encountered in a long time. I spent most of the trip leaning over the stern. Because we didn't get the experience promised, we got a full refund. Where else would that ever happen? If we had a chance to return to Kauai we would go horseback riding, ziplining and kayaking like other members of our group. Eight of the guys also went golfing and loved the courses. We also visited the Hindu Temple and that was very enlightening. The wedding service was traditional Hawaiian and brought many of us to tears. It was very spiritual with the emphasis on family. The reception at Oasis was perfect- delicious drinks and food and outstanding service. Mahalo Barbie and Don

My partner and I stayed here for 5 days in February 2011. The condo is beautiful, well appointed and just an all around great place to stay. We were instantly comfortable as it just has that kind of feel to it. The beds were great and the whole condo is very upscale and pretty. We've stayed in amazing 5 star resorts and this condo compares really nicely! There are so many extras either provided by the owners or left behind by others that you really lack for nothing. We used the beach chairs, a cooler and saw that there were many games, pool toys and DVDs also. The owners, Barbie and Don, were super responsive, helpful and full of information in their Kauai info pack. If we go back to Kauai, we will stay again and definitely bring friends.

Barbie and Don What a beautiful condo, everything was just as the pictures showed, the view was wonderful. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need right down to an ice-cream scoop. We felt as if we were in our home away from home. The condo is in a great location to go south or north and the convenience of the grocery stores right across the street was wonderful. Everyone in Kauai was so nice and helpful such a beautiful place and I cannot wait to come back to Kauai and visit again. Carla & Family

This place was amazing! Barbie's condo is stocked with everything you need to live in luxury on your vacation! The bedding, towels, kitchen supplies are all very high quality. It is an end-unit, so it was very quiet and private. The Waipouli resort is great- the pool is fun for kids and adults- there are several adult only hot tubs for relaxation. A few steps out and you can enjoy the idyllic beach and ocean. Loved the central location- easy access to shopping and dining in Kapaa. We will be back next year!

We spent Labor Day week 2010 at this beautiful property. The grounds were gorgeous, the kids loved the pool and the water slides and the condo was above and beyond what we could have hoped for. We had all the luxuries of home while on vacation. We couldn't ask anymore from Barbie who gave us wonderful tips about the island even before we made it to Kauai. It took my wife and myself about 10 minutes to know this is the place we will be renting again when make future trips to Kauai. Mahalo Barbie everything was 5 stars +++++++++++!!!!

We stayed at this unit for 11 days and found it to be perfect. Very clean with all the needed essentials. Beautiful pool, exercise facility, Wi Fi ...if needed, close to everything on the island. We were very impressed with how very spotless they keep the grounds. The quietness of the room (sound proof) was excellent. No disturbances!!!There is a beach but not one to swim at...but all the same nice to sit at and hear and see the ocean. Our last evening a Monk seal was sunning itself all day!! Very close to Lydgate Beach which was PERFECT!!! Very trustworthy people to do business with and happy they were a phone call away if needed and they lived nearby. You will not be disappointed so we highly recommend this unit. We had a once in a lifetime vacation and loved every minute.

This was an ideal set up for us (two couples) - two masters and a kitchen. So nice to have breakfast conveniently without having to order high priced room service! For us, this was also a very convenient location as we had family in Kapaa. Fully appointed kitchen and nice bed linens/towels. We will stay here again!

Our vacation on Kauai was wonderful! The unit was lovely, spacious, and very comfortable. We shared with another couple and never felt crowded or uncomfortable. Our trip was May 3-10 and the weather was gorgeous. The ocean was breathtaking and we spent much of our time on the beach and snorkeling. Barbie was very helpful and available when we had a couple of questions. I would definitely recommend this condo to my friends and family! The shopping across the street was very convenient and even though the complex was on a busy street, we never heard any traffic noise. The grounds were very well taken care of and the pool and spas were pristine. The slide was a great source of entertainment for us "old people." Another highlight was the dinner sunsent cruise on the Napili Coast and our favorite restaurant was Keoki's (sp) in Poipoi. For a quick burger, Bubba's can't be beat. All in all, this was truly a vacation in paradise!!

Barbie and Don, We just returned from our Kauai vacation and had a fantastic time. Your condo was beautiful and fully equipped with everything that we needed. We enjoyed all of the sites of Kauai from hiking to taking long walks along the bike path. Your condo is in the perfect location to enjoy all of these things. We especially enjoyed the beautiful pool and the beach. We spent a great deal of time just lounging by the pool and getting to meet so many interesting people. The barbecue was also great! We have definite plans on returning sometime in the future and we will be staying at this resort. Thanks again for helping to make our vacation so memorable. The condo was fantastic for our family. It gave us plenty of space in a fantastic location. Having a full kitchen (with all the tools) allowed us to enjoy our meals together and save a lot of money. Barbie was the best part of the deal...a local resource to make sure we made the most of our "excursions"...no wasted days doing things that weren't worthwhile... I highly recommend it!

We stayed in the condo for a week around New Year's 2009. Its location is ideal. While the beach in front of the condo isn't that spectacular, you are within easy driving distance to all of the great beaches on Kauai -- Lydgate, Poipu, Tunnels. You can also enjoy the immediate area. The town of Kapa'a is nearby for shopping and restaurants -- we really enjoyed sampling the local produce at the farmers' market. There is a wonderful scenic bike path that runs along the coast and starts not far from the resort. Best of all for young families, there is a Safeway and other restaurants right across the street from the resort. So convenient and great for saving money on meals! The unit itself is stunning. The pictures on this site are very representative but I thought it was even prettier in person. You can see the ocean and the pool from the balcony. The pool was a favorite of our family, and better than other condo developments we've stayed in. The unit is very tastefully decorated and spacious. It fit our family of 5 comfortably. It's very handy to have the washer and dryer in the unit, for drying swimsuits in the humid climate of Hawaii. And the kitchen was a highlight for us -- top of the line appliances, well-maintained and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The resort's spa and restaurant were undergoing a management change during our visit (due to the economy) and were closed, but frankly having the great kitchen and ready access to grocery shopping more than made up for that. But the icing on the cake was Barbie, the owner. She really went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The guide she provided to us before we arrived proved to be very helpful in structuring our activities. There were beautiful tropical flowers waiting for us when we got there, and the unit was spotless. And we'll always remember the Tahitian limes she gave us, grown at her own home -- best guac and margaritas ever! When we mentioned how spectacular they were, she came by with even more. If you want a relaxing luxury vacation with the conveniences of home, then look no further. I hope we will be back soon!

Three friends and I were able to get away to Kauai for a "girls" week and we had a wonderful time. The condo was beautifully decorated and so comfortable...and what a great view! We loved being able to open up the doors, close the screens and just feel the warm Hawaii breezes fill the rooms. We have talked about making a return trip sometime and bringing our husbands so they can enjoy all the sites and activites that we loved so much. Thanks for such a great getaway place!

In all our travels, these accommodations were the best ever. We rented this particular unit because good friends of ours recommended it so highly. We were not disappointed and as a matter of fact, the experience exceeded our high expectations. This unit is definitely up-scale in every way. If you are looking for top end, look no further. This particular unit and all its furnishings look brand new. For us, the icing on the cake was the great customer service that the condo owner provided. We were given customized information on beaches, places to see and restaurants to enjoy. All of these vacation tips really came in handy since this was our first trip to Kauai. On a scale of 1 to 10, we give this unit a 10 without hesitation. From the furnishings, to the upscale kitchen, to the huge bathrooms and the phenomenal view of the pool and ocean, this place is great. Oh, and the beds have the most comfortable mattresses that I've ever experienced. I would definitely recommend this unit to any of my friends and when we return to Kauai, we would not consider staying anywhere else.

We liked the fact that it was located on the east side and was only a short drive to the north or south shore. The condo had all the comforts of home, especially the beds. With the trade winds blowing and the ceiling fans, we hardly had to use the a/c, and it was nice to sit on the lanai and take in the view of the pool and ocean. When we make it back to Kauai we would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at #F204 Waipouli Beach Resort was without a doubt the best resort we've experienced in our many trips to Hawaii. The entire complex is so well thought out with beautiful views and the fun slides and pools which we 60 years olds enjoyed right along with the younger set. The condo is beautiful yet very comfortable. Large bathrooms, pillowtop matteress, window coverings that really cover make it a cut above other places we've stayed. Barbie has provided great information & was only a phone call away if a question came up.

We stayed for 11 days in F204 the end of February until 3/4/09. We were celebrating my 60th birthday. Everything was fantastic in the condo from the view overlooking the pool area to the ocean. Our only disappointment was mother nature decided to have wind the entire 11 days; it never let up! We loved Salt Pond Beach; it was not windy and was perfect for our grandson, Bradley, to play in the water. (He was 3-1/2 at the time of our visit). It was so convenient with shopping across the street for groceries and grabbing something to eat. We did all the sightseeing easily enough from our location, including seeing whales! This is our second trip to Kauai at Waipouli Beach Resort. The first time we booked through a travel agent and did not have such a nice view. If you comparison shop, you cannot get a better room-with-a-view than Don and Barbie's condo! It was about $ 1,200 less to go through VRBO and book directly (plus you did not know which condo you actually booked if went through Outrigger directly or through a travel agent). This was our first time utilizing VRBO and we would highly recommend it! Especially through Don and Barbie as our experience was just the same as a concierge at a fine hotel...Barbie answered all questions and assisted us with information to make wise choices with activities. When we come back to Kauai, we will not hesitate to book with Don and Barbie again! Aloha! Chrissie and Dwight Geller, Jim, Elisabeth and Bradly Stilwell

This past visit was my second stay in your condo, which is and will be my "home away from home" on Kauai for every vacation, if possible in the future! The condo is centrally located on the island, spotless, elegant and the resort itself is so lovely. Whether an adult vacation or one with my children and grandchildren.........it is perfect! As I sit here on this cold, dreary winter day in Cincinnati, I am daydreaming about this fabulous condo and resort in Kauai. We stayed at this condo the first week of September 2008 and found everything to be perfect, the location, the property, the amenities, and best of all the help from Barbie in planning our vacation. Barbie was wonderful to work with and gave us tons of valuable information on activities to do, places to eat, where to shop...and they were all excellent. We are just sad we did not have time to do it all. When we return to Kauai (hopefully very soon), without a doubt, we would stay in this condo again. Thanks for all your help and for sharing your first class condo with us. We had the best vacation on this wonderful island.

It rained for the first three days but we were able to entertain ourselves with both outdoor and indoor activites which kept the kids occupied and happy. Saw many monk seals laying on the beachs with their young. Went snorkeling with Capt. Tara and saw the first whales of the season. Thanks again and am sure we will be back to use your wonderful facility next year and again thanks for being so helpful with your planning info. Dan T

Plus, you have a Safeway across the street for those nights you want to cook. The condo itself is top of the line - we loved the comfortable beds, large bathrooms, lanais, and gourmet kitchen. And, Barbie is a "doll" - very professional and helpful. We would love to stay here again!

Our trip to Kauai was very enjoyable and relaxing. We stayed in this particular unit and everything was "top notch". I rate it a 5 star resort and a 5 star unit. The hardest part was deciding which room to claim as they both were Master Suites with slightly different amenities. We picked the room with the queen bed and the garden tub. Next time we go back, I'll pick the other room with the king bed and larger balcony. The grounds were immaculate and we enjoyed the three hot tubs on site. I only have one complaint and it's just a minor one - the workout room was small with no windows and very little equipment. But as I said - that's a minor complaint and that won't hinder us from returning sometime in the near future. The location was convenient to all the sights and with the grocery store across the street, it made for quick trips on foot. Thank you for opening up this beautiful condo to visitors. We hope to meet you in person - perhaps next year. Mahalo - Min (a former Kauai girl)
Owner response:The Waipouli Beach Resort Homeowners Association is planning a major upgrade to the fitness center and relocating it near the pool. We hope the new fitness center will be ready for your next visit.

Our family rented this unit over Spring Break 2008. It was a beautiful unit, well equipped and comfortably (even luxuriously) furnished. The unit is set back from the pool and the decks felt very private with no other balconies looking down on them. There is a distant ocean view over the pool as shown in the photos for this unit. The unit was quiet, even during the day because of the set-back from the pool. The Waipouli complex is beautiful with gardens and beach access. The pool and water slides were a hit with our kids. The only drawback to the complex is that the reef comes quite close to the beach here. There are spots where you can get in the water, but it is not unlimited access. However, the beach-combing is great. The restaurant was good and has a great location on the beach. The spa was also nicely done. We like the location in Kapaa because it is halfway between Poipu and Hanalei, making both accessible for day trips. Restaurants, groceries and other shopping was within easy walking distance of the Waipouli. A couple of blocks down you can access a beautiful ocean front walking path that goes for several kilometers. Overall, it was a great place for a family vacation. If you're looking for a more adult-oriented, quiet place, this may not be for you. Over Spring Break there were lots of kids in the pool, although the decks never seemed crowded. We're planning on going again.

This beautiful condo. was the perfect place to spend a week! We wish we could have stayed longer! The owners are great people! They were quick to respond to our questions prior to arriving, met us the day we arrived and even recommended their doctor to us for our son who got swimmer's ear. The condo. is absolutely beautiful with a nice lay-out, wonderful furnishings, super clean and well maintained. It has everything you need! The pools and hot tubs are great with lots of lounging areas. The onsite bar was great for happy hour! We hope we will be able to come back soon!

We are having a wonderful time in this condo! Came for 1 week in July 2007, and are getting close to the end of our stay. We've been extremely pleased with this complex and with the owners of this condo in particular. The resort is very nice, the kids love the river pool, and everything is immaculate. The location is convenient to both the north shore and the west (Waimea Canyon). Close by is Lydgate Park, where the kids had a blast snorkeling in the protected waters. It is also very cost-efficient. We did not have to pay for 2 separate hotel rooms, and had most breakfasts and some dinners here in the condo. The unit is spacious, accomodating me, my husband, our kids (who chose to sleep in our room in sleeping bags instead of the living room sleeper sofa... and it has worked) and my in-laws. Communications with the owners before the trip and during our stay have been prompt and very helpful. They even loaned us their own boogie boards for the beach! I would highly recommend both the resort and this particular rental. Thanks so much, and we'll get in touch if we're lucky enough to come again in the near future.
