We stayed here for five days and wished we'd had more time. The location is fantastic with a lovely beach a five minute walk away plus there is a two person kayak for paddling to a nearby island (which we had to ourselves in the morning). The accommodations are very comfortable and the living room has an absolutely stunning view as does the lanai. The home is a bit careworn around the edges, kind of like a family cottage at the beach but it is very comfortable for two people or two adults and two small children in the second bedroom. Lanikai is a very small community about five minutes by car from Kailua which has restaurants and markets including a new Whole Foods which was great. We spent very little time in the car during our stay. The landlord was very helpful and quite a delightful person to chat with as an added bonus. Of minor interest to most, if you are gluten free it is very nice to have Whole Foods nearby as Hawaii is not a very gluten free friendly place. Plus the Cactus Cafe is a classy dinner and lunch place that also does gluten free. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone who wants to have a true Hawaiian vacation without the noise, traffic and bustle of Waikiki.
Owner response:Mahalo for your kind words. It's so nice to share the beauty of our Lanikai and Kailua world. I'm happy the cottage met all of your needs and hope to see you two again down the road.

My husband and I have actually stayed here twice. We stayed in July of 2009 and came back June 2011. The cottage is very private, insanely close to the beach, and immediately feels like home. The view is spectacular and the breeze that fills this windward house is really something. I really recommend this cottage for a vacation that you'll never forget! I miss it already.
Owner response:One of the best things about having visitors stay here is having RETURNING visitors, who feel a connection and love for the cottage, or the studio, and for the beauty of Lanikai and our windward side. Mahalo!

This was our second year visiting this amazing property! We prefer Noni's charming ocean-view cottage over any big resort experience. Not only is Lanikai home to our favorite beach on the island, but the cottage is also our favorite place to stay while visiting Oahu. Breathtaking views, including sunrise in the early morning. Extremely comfortable living space. Since we travel as a family, we appreciate all of the gear Noni has provided the cottage residents -- kayak, beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, towels, mats, and more! All of these items add up to a hefty rental price at any other hotel situation. Even the kitchen is well stocked. We continue to dream of our ocean view of the Mokulua islands from the cottage, as we are back home in Northern CA counting down the days to our next visit to Lanikai!
Owner response:I am so fortunate to have the opportunity of connecting with gracious and positive people from the various corners of the planet. Yes, Lanikai is a special place and it gives me joy to share a bit of paradise. Mahalo!

We spent 2 weeks here and had a great time. The cottage is so cute and had perfect views. It is just the right size for 2 or 3 people. I was here with my 2 daughters and they loved it. We hope to be back again soon and hope to stay here. I cant say enough about Lanikai beach. We just love it there. Mahalo and Aloha

We spent 2 weeks here and had a great time. The cottage is so cute and very comfortable. I spent 2 weeks with my daughters who were on college spring break and they loved the cottage. We hope to be back soon as Lanikai holds a special place in our hearts. It used to be my home and now my girls call it their home away from home. The cottage up on the hill gives you such beautiful views of the ocean, and the cool breezes are calming, not to mention the beautiful sunrises!! Lanikai is awesome!! Aloha and Mahalo

We stayed two weeks in this beautiful 'cottage' which is really more like a real house. The place was spotless clean and situated beautifully on the hillside with a marvellous view over Lanikai Beach. The surroundings were nice and quiet and we spent almost all our time outdoor on the Lanai (porch). The kitchen is fitted with everything you could ask for and we had a couple of nice barbeques. The owner is quiet, friendly, an ideal host and a good artist. We borrowed her ocean kayak, life vests and other stuff for free. If you plan to stay in this area we can only recommend this place.

The photos here don't do justice to the view from this cottage, which is terrific. I highly recommend it. The owner is very nice and helpful, the place is well stocked, the price is right and the location is perfect. Just don't book it when I want to go back!

My mother and I stayed here for Thanksgiving weekend and it was a dream come true. The location is absolutely perfect-you can not ask for a better location. Everything you could possibly want is walking distance--the best beach on the planet, a trail where you can watch the sunrise with breathtaking 360 degree views, a wonderful vegetarian cafe, the best juice bar, and more! The view from the cottage is stunning. It's spacious and private yet you still feel much aloha from the family that rents this amazing place out. If I could move in permanently I would!

Thank you so much for your hospitality - - you are wonderful! This place is a little slice of heaven in paradise. Warmest wishes and much mahalo.

Staying in the cottage has been a delightful experience! The location so close to the beach is perfect and the view is stunning. The cottage is attractively furnished and everything that is needed is provided. Plus, the bed is very comfortable. An added plus was to be able to do some of my shopping for friends and family without leaving the cottage, through the artist owner. I couldn't have asked for more.

The View! Words are inadequate to describe it . . . stunning comes to mind, even though that doesn't quite do it. One just has to see it to believe it. I feel as though I'm watching a movie when I look out the window . . . such spectacular scenery. I'll be back soon.

Awesome view and great cottage. We have lived in Hawaii for a number of years and this was always my favorite beach of all the islands. I can't understand why Waikiki is so popular. Thanks.

Thank you for creating this blissful little cottage by the sea. We lunched at the grand hotels of Waikiki and Kahala and they can't hold a candle to your little Lanikai treasure. We appreciate the comfortable sleep, the care with which you've selected the decor, the beautiful garaden plantings replete with goldfish, fountain, and Buddha, and the spectacular view. Like everyone else, we're slow to leave and will keep in our hearts, the spirit of this lovely place.
