If you are looking for an upscale, mountain cabin close to skiing, hiking, fishing, kayaking, and swimming; then Bowman’s Riverside Retreat is the perfect spot for you. Our charming cottage, which sleeps seven, sits snuggly on the banks of the Skykomish River in the heart of Washington’s Cascade Mountains on Stevens Pass. There is a lot to do. In the winter you can ski/board at Stevens Pass and in the Spring and Summer you can fish the Skykomish, play in the water, relax on the beach, or hike to alpine lakes or Wallace Falls. Located an hour north east of Seattle, it is easy to find and accessible year round.
This newly remodeled, non-smoking cabin with its breathtaking river and mountain views is ideal for a family vacation, couples’ retreat, or a romantic get-away. The main floor features an inviting great room, gourmet kitchen, restful bedroom queen bedroom, and full bath. The living room area is beautifully decorated with a new queen hide-a-bed, two recliners, and a woodburning fireplace. The dining area comfortably seats six. The modern kitchen is equipped with a glass top double convection oven, refrigerator with ice-maker, dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, coffee grinder, utensil, and cookware.
The cabin has wireless high-speed internet, satellite TV, and a VCR/DVD player. The bathroom has a tub/shower combination. A sliding glass door leads to a large deck where you can enjoy outdoor dining, read your favorite book, or listen to the sounds of nature. Upstairs there are two cozy bedrooms both with mountain views. One contains a king-size bed and the other has a twin bed.
A studio, perfect for an artist's retreat or a bunkhouse, is next to the cabin and may be rented for an extra $30/day.
The landscaped backyard has a riverside fire pit where you sit around a crackling fire and roast hotdogs and marshmallows or make s’mores. On clear evening tilt your head back and watch unusually brilliant night sky. Just steps away from the backyard is the crystal clear water of the ever-changing Skykomish River. In the spring the river rises and sometimes reaches into the backyard. During the summer months the river drops, revealing a beautiful sandy beach perfect for fishing, swimming, or skipping rocks.
Outstanding recreational activities await you in this year-round mountain paradise. Winter offers our guests downhill skiing and snowboarding at Stevens Pass which is less than a half hour away. We offer reduced price ski lift tickets to our guests. There is cross country skiing at the Nordic Center just beyond the summit. After a great day in the snow, spend the evening listening to the river and relaxing in the hot tub that is just steps away from the deck.
The mountains are beautiful in the spring as nature comes alive. The weather is usually warm enough for hiking and mountain biking. Birdwatching is also a favorite pastime. Keep an eye open for the eagles that often soar above the river and surrounding forest.
Summer is a wonderful time to explore our river valley and mountains. Take your canoes, kayaks, rafts, or tubes up the river and then enjoy the scenery and serenity of the mountains as you float back down to the cabin. Make sure to bring life vests and watch out for the white water. For our guest who just want relax, you can catch a few rays on the beach or swim in the cool water. Well maintained mountain trails offer a variety of hikes through the forest to alpine lakes, waterfalls, and picturesque vistas.
In the fall brilliant red, orange, and yellow leaves contrast with the green and paint the mountainsides with color. This is a great time to hike or bike the mountain trails and roads. Watching the salmon as they swim up the river is also a impressive sight.
Bowman’s Riverside Retreat is the perfect place to stay while you enjoy many local attractions. For the technical rock climber, ten minutes away is the town of Index which is located at the base of a world class vertical rock face. An hour east, is the charming Bavarian town of Leavenworth that has many seasonal activities. In the winter you can attend the Christmas Lighting Festival. In the spring Manifest is always a hit for family fun. In the summer Leavenworth is famous for its summer musical theater in several different outdoor venues. The city goes all out in the fall.
