Generous and flexible check in and check out times give you a REAL vacation at this house, even if you are only there for a short time, unlike places that ask you to arrive late afternoon and depart by early morning!
Also provided is a complete complementary breakfast for up to six people that save you time and money(see more detail below)! This beautifully appointed home has THREE bedrooms (two are private suites) plus another bedroom and bath AND a fourth room off the master suite with futon sleeping. The THREE new, luxury baths give each guest special privacy. A perfect place for multiple generations of families or one to three couples or several singles who want a special time together and for special gatherings! The almost level-in entries and single story layout also help those who find stairs difficult.
Special "Personal Spa" also available for the jetted tub and luxury master bath. Try the "hot mit" for soothing your muscles, special bath gels and soaps, and some surprises!
Hacienda Serena is only 1.5 miles from 32 miles of lovely walking and biking paths at Monterey Bay State Beach, named in AARP Magazine "one of the nation's ..most beautiful beaches...for a leisurely outdoor activity..." Watch or fly kites, hike the dunes and scenic trails, or play in the Bay!
The welcoming flag is always flying at Hacienda Serena and you are welcomed by fresh flowers and special breakfast items: juice, fresh homemade coffee cake or muffins, fresh strawberries from the Hacienda's organic garden or other fruit in season, eggs, sausages or bacon, home fried potatoes, an assortment of coffees and teas, and condiments. Have a totally relaxing first morning! Recline on the decks with your freshly brewed coffee and look at the view!
For a special occasion, we will do appropriate decorations for you, just ask.
This ranch-style, level-in home with Western hacienda-style decor has breathtaking sunsets to the west over Monterey Bay and sunrises to the east over the mountains. TVs in all bedrooms and living room entertainment center. High speed internet provided. Toy closet for children with toys, games, puzzles, children's videos, bath toys, small table and chairs.
In addition to the 2100 square feet of living space, 1200 MORE square feet of decking surrounding two sides of "Hacienda Serena" includes outdoor tables, chairs, recliners, and benches, gas barbeque, bubbling fountains, lovely plants, "chiminea" (Mexican-style outdoor fireplace) with wood supplied for evenings outside by the fire! Guests say the decks are SO much larger than can be shown in pictures.
This great vacation home in the Monterey sunbelt is just a few miles west of Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway and Golf Course and the Salinas Valley "lettuce Bowl of the US" and the Steinbeck Museum; moments west to downtown Monterey, Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Pacific Grove, 7 miles to downtown Carmel and beach on Carmel Bay, and 8 miles to the Lodge at Pebble Beach!
You will not wonder how things work! Instructions in the house mean no learning curve, so you can relax and have fun from the moment you arrive!
Immaculately clean and sanitized after each rental. All linens supplied. Master suite has Monterey Bay views, a library,TV/VCR, sitting areas, raised hearth gas fireplace, adjacent 7'X11'dressing room that can double as fourth sleeping room or perfect for infant room (complete with built-in cabinet-changing table). Adjoining Master bath has jetted spa tub and double sinks!
Bird Watcher? Guests at Hacienda Serena enjoy some 40 different species of birds from the decks (binoculars provided!) due to the "flyway" between the Pacific Ocean to the west and wilderness to the east. The backyard has been certified as an official "Certified Wildlife Habitat" by the National Wildlife Federation.
We will e-mail you a complementary planning letter, plus more info telling you exact mileage and travel time to attractions from the house, activities available in the area and restaurant recommendations as well, description and history of the surrounding neighborhood. Just 1.5 miles from the major Monterey Bay Beach Park. It's just a few more miles around the beach to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row and The Wharf.
Two new private tennis courts (we provide the code entry for your use)and a golf driving range are just at the bottom of the hill, easy walking distance (less than 1/2 mile)as well as a frog pond state preserve 1/2 mile away with an easy one-mile walk around with ducks, pond, and viewing dock! All ages love the pond area, feeding ducks, and picking wild blackberries.

Why the Owner Chose Monterey
Hacienda Serena has everything we wanted in a "dream" home: views of Monterey Bay plus Santa Cruz hills and Pacific Grove views to the west and of unlimited hills and mountains to the east for great sunrises and sunsets! It is a very sunny location but one can still see fog drifting in and out of the Bay and we love those views. It also has three "suites", each with its own bath, two bedrooms and bath separated by the living area from the third suite, perfect for privacy and visitors! Close to all the wonderful activities on Monterey Peninsula.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Views of the Pacific Ocean and Monterey Bay, special spa tub, privacy inside and out with lots of decking, beautiful yard and flowers, fountains, inside gas, easy care fireplaces and outside wood burning chiminea, lovely furnishings with great kitchen that is easy to work in due to being new and being fully furnished. Easy "flow" through the house for the people who stay and lots of privacy. All one floor, including level out to 1100 sf of decking and lots of outdoor furniture. We like to sit on the front veranda in the late afternoon with tea or coffee and bask in that special, warm late afternoon sun.

We have managed vacation rentals for others through agencies in the past and always dreamed of doing one with our own special touch for individual guests, which is what we enjoy doing now. We provide custom decorations for special occasions, fresh flowers, freshly baked coffee cake and 6 servings of a complete breakfast, many, many extras and only have this one home now....doing it "our way" for you. We have two books full of guest thank you notes and positive comments! Hooray!
