My husband and I stayed in this apartment for two weeks, and a friend joined us in the second week; the apartment was perfect for two, and comfortable for three. It's the best location in Rome, right in the heart of the Centro Storico, and Mirella is a fantastic host - her knowledge of Rome is wonderful, and she made us feel very welcome. Next time we come to Rome we will be hoping to stay here again.

The Best Way to Visit Rome

Mirella was there to greet us on arrival and when ever we needed her during our stay. Apartment was charming and comfortable in a secure building. Kitchen is small but adequate for breakfast and small meals - who comes to Rome to eat at home with so many wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Pharmacy, grocery store and wine store within minutes of front door. Walked to all of the famous Rome attractions. Dinner with Mirella is a treat not to be missed - and when the door bell rings during dinner get ready for a truly Roman experience of every day living. Mirella took us for a short (2 hr) walk on our last day to show us some sights we'd missed. What a tour guide, with a story for every building and street along the way. She helped us choose some prints in Piazza Navona and then took us to see the spots which were in her neighbourhood. What a great memento of our visit to Rome and our stay with Mirella. Don't forget to ask Mirella about a tour guide for Rome. Her friend AnnaLisa, a licensed Rome tour guide, has her Phd in Archeology and her passion for Rome is contageous. What a way to visit an incredible city. Thanks again, Mirella.

Came in to Rome for a one day trip. Everyhting was laid out very well and our host was very accomodating. The apartment is in a great part of Rome, near Piazza Navona. I would recommend this apartment without hesitation to any of my friends in the future.

We stayed for a week in Mirella's apartment in early November. The location was fantastic. The surrounding neighborhood is quiet (for Rome) with a lively local evening street scene. Restaurants, bars, shops and galleries are all within a few blocks and the more famous tourist type areas are all within walking distance. There is a Sunday organic food market in the piazza across the street where we picked up cheese and vegetables to stock the small but well equipped kitchen in the apartment. The apartment itself is clean and comfortable. It faces an inner courtyard so it is very quiet. The drawback to that is there is not a lot of natural light. We did not spend a lot of time inside during the day, so it was not a bother to us. Mirella is a lovely woman, generous with her time and knowledge. I would highly recommend this place for a stay in Rome. Thank you Mirella!

This was a great apartment for three women friends. We were a little unsure how the set up would work for us, as we used the hallway bed, living room bed, and the bedroom. It was perfect. The set up provides some privacy and the beds were very comfortable. Washroom was great, with lots of hot water for three showers and kitchen, while small, had what we needed. Everything was very clean and tidy. The location is fantastic - walking distance to the Vatican, Campo dei Fiori, the Pantheon, etc. Mirella is a wonderful host, friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. We had an early arrival and were able to drop off our bags and continue with our day. Mirella also arranged our taxi to the airport and recommended a great coffee shop just a few doors down. I would absolutely stay here again!

The location of the appartment is fabulous and safe. You can walk or take the bus everywhere. There was a great wine bar across the street as well as a great little grocery with everything. Restaurants of all types and price ranges were just 5 min. walk away. Mirielle was a great host with lots of information. We were just 1 couple and we had plenty of space and even cooked 1 meal there. The place was super clean. The patio was just okay but the communal patio on the roof was fabulous and we never saw a soul. It was a great place for our 3 days in Rome.

Perfect location, easy walking to all major sites, safe and comfortable neighborhoods - day or evening. Owner, Mirella, is very helpful. Apartment well appointed and plenty of room. Kitchenette good for light meals, breakfast, and coffee (moka pot included). Many restaurants - small, large, formal, informal - within a short walk. Apartment Porch is nice for morning coffee, rooftop terrace is great for cityscape viewing, Recommend using BluCar, reserved by Mirella, to get from airport to apartment, especially after a long flight. Would stay here again.

Lovely flat in centuries-old building with modern amenities; Mirella, the owner, was very helpful and gracious. Eravamo a Roma, in un appartamento Banchi Vecchi dal 28 settembre al 2 ottobre 2011. Piacevole, accogliente appartamento, che ha tutto il necessario. Ci sono tutte le piccole cose - anche un buon caffè, olio d'oliva, spezie, una mappa di Roma, il menu del ristorante, la cortesia della signora Mirella. Vicino l'appartamento c'è un supermercato, a 10-15 minuti a piedi alla destra del Vaticano c'è un mercato in cui una vasta selezione di frutta, verdura e pesce. La signora Mirella affascinante, pieno di fascino italiano. Speriamo di tornare al Banchi Vecchi. Grazie tante signora Mirella, saremo di Ritorno!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Mirella's apartment. It is located near Campo de Fiori in a very charming old part of town near the bridge to the Vatican and another near Trastevere. It's quite an experience to share the streets with cars, scooters and people; in other words no sidewalks. There are two internet cafes down the street, one Barnum Cafe where wine and apertivo are served. Very nice bartenders. A small grocery store is very near as well and the apartment is across the narrow street from Vino Olio where you can try many different wines.We walked and walked all over Rome, be prepared with good shoes. Mirella's apartment is definitely a great location and she was extremely helpful. She arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport and called for a taxi when we left. I heartily recommend staying at this apartment

Mirella, thank you for helping to make our stay in Rome so memorable. The apartment is in a wonderful location and the neighborhood is intimate with good restaurants (PierLuigi is fabulous), shops and access to taxis and buses. Mirella was very helpful and recommended several opportunities including a choir concert in the church across the street from the apartment. It was a great experience and gave us the feel we lived there not simply visited. The apartment was clean and the bathroom very modern.

Signora Mirella, thank you so much for a wonderful stay in your apartment! The location is truly perfect! We walked everywhere and only took a taxi to/from the airport. Signora Mirella is very accomodating and makes sure you are well taken care of. She picked up our tickets to the Papal Audience the night before and was waiting for us on our arrival, took our bags and gave us the tickets as we arrived just before the start of the Papal Audience. We attended a jazz concert with her at the church across the street, which we enjoyed tremendously. It felt like we were staying in a family member's home. It was a personal and enjoyable experience. We will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Rome.

Grazie mille Mirella.. I just came home from a 6 week stay in Rome. This lovely apartment on Via Banchi Vecchi was the perfect place to experience Rome away from the intense touristy stuff and yet VERY convenient to everything. The apartment itself was a welcome and comfortable retreat to come home to after a day out. I fixed many meals, enjoyed the roof top terrace and "my" own liittle terrace off of the kitchen. (Mirella, be sure toi water the gardenias and plants.. :) Mirella was awesome. She made so much of Rome easier to experience. 6 weeks is a long time and I can say without hesitation that the apartment was the perfect place to have this adventure.

SIGNORA Mirella, How can we thank you enaugh for all your assistance in making our visit so wonderful. MILLE GRAZIE. Your special assistance to see the beautyful Caravaggio in the magnificent Chiesas was a thrilling experience for us. Without your guidance we would not have had such a intensive experience of those great paintings, being able to visit all those churches on the route you suggested. We enjoyed the cozy apartment and loved the neighborood so much, beeing able to easily visit all the great monuments, piazzas, and Campo de' Fiori markets, foros, restaurants. I was able to buy tomatoes from Vesuvio & delicious mushrooms, which I prepared in your net & convenient kitchen. I also met a handsome & so very sweet seller & bought his beautiful dried herbs & spices for Carbonara, ragu & "tutto". I bought fresh pasta at the supermarkets you suggested and the wonderful breads at the Forno in the Campo de? Fiori (many delicious cookies & tarts too). We enjoyed several concerts during our stay at the Oratorio on via del Gonfalone & at San Luigi dei Francesi by piazza Navona. Although we only had a 10 days visit, we were greatly satisfied with our activities, and all the people we met were truly lovely. I am proud to have an Italian heritage. Again thank to you for your generous gift of time & attention to ensure the happiness of our visit. I made the decision to stay at Mirell'a apartment based on the location & previous reviews. The location is within walkng distance to the Vatican, Piazza Navona, Pantheon & more. "Central Rome" The neighborhood has everything you need. Wine bar across the street, bakery, grocery store, farmacia, an atm around the corner, and more.The reviews I read were spot on! Mirella went out of her way to help us with a guide, food questions, a taxi ride to the airport. She even helped with a translation between a local pharmacist and my non Italian speaking wife. I stayed in Mirella's apartment from Nov. 1 until Nov. 8. Even though Mirella has faithfully entered the comments I left in her guest book, I wanted to reiterate in my own hand on VRBO what a positive experience I had. The apartment is very comfortable, with a welcoming bed and a good hot shower. The location is absolutely fantastic; My estimates for walking times to some of the nearby sites are about 15 minutes to The Vatican, 5 minutes to Campo de Fiori, 10 minutes to Piazza Navona, and 15 minutes to the Pantheon. And not only is Via Banchi Vecchi a lovely street, but everything you could possibly need is nearby. Mirella herself is an intelligent, organized, gracious, and cultured host. I would urge anyone staying with her to look at the suggestion sheets she thoughtfully provides her guests, and to ask her any questions you might have, for she is a valuable resource. I very much look forward to staying with again.

Dear Mirella, thank you so much for your hospitality, graciousness & kidnes. My staying in your lovely apartment, on such a pretty street in such a lovely, lovely neighborhood in Rome, has been very special. I am determined to come back again, with some wisdom gained from the experience. I think next time I will concentrate less on visiting the "great" sites and more on simply trying to experience Rome as a Roman. I was on the move to the extent that I didn't fully experience the way of life Rome offers. Smaller museums (as well as some big ones I didn't have time for), some finer dining in addition to the very good street food, and more time in the charming streets and alleys await me on my return, which I hope isn't far off. Mirella is a lovely lady who made us feel very welcome.She was quick to respond to our enquiries when we were booking and was always very helpful. The apartment is very clean and comfortable and we loved being able to walk out the front door right onto the Via Banchi Vecchi to stroll along the historic and fascinating streets of this area. The Piazza Campo de Fiori is a few minutes walk away and there is a fantastic market there every morning where we bought fresh fruit, cheese and bread. We walked everywhere and found all the wonderful sites of Rome to be within easy reach, stopping for gelato or a pastry on the way! We would highly recommend this apartment and hope one day to return.

You could not get a better location for Rome at this price. Easy walking distance to the Vatican, Piazza Navona, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and all of the other great attractions. Ms. Cassio is a wonderful host who will go out of her way to get you anything you might need.

My husband and I and our 14 year old daughter stayed for 8 nights in late June early July 2010 and found the apartment clean, comfortable, homely, pleasant and quiet, just as advertised. It is very adequately equipped. The location is wonderful, in a beautiful street and neighbourhood, close to the heart of Rome, the river and all sights, as well as an excellent supermarket! Mirella is a kind and thoughtful host, and ready to help with anything. We would certainly return here if (when) we return to Rome, and would recommend to our friends or relatives.

This is our third rental either through Mirella (VRBO#108288) or Carmen (VRBO# 124068) and I must say how helpful and professional they are to deal with. They seem to anticipate a traveller's needs and therefore have provided a lot of useful information in the apartments about various Rome attractions and are readily available to assist in making arrangments for tickets, taxis, cell phone rental, etc. I highly recommend this apartment, which is also in a fantastic location.

I chose Mirella's apartment based on location. My husband and myself were traveling with my 84 year young parents. The apt. is central to most major sites for walking and yet it is in a quiet Roman neighborhood with all the necessities of urban living. The building has an elevator but we found we used the stairs as they were a very easy and well lite climb. The apt. itself is just as the pictures portray; it is clean, spacious, and comfortable. Mirella has provided many suggestions for siteseeing, eating, and anything else a traveler might need. She lives in the same building herself and is very gracious and accomodating. Our only wish is to have been able to stay longer.

The apartment was wonderfully located and within walking distance of so many interesting sights, including the Vatican, Piazza Navona, and the Campo de Fiori. It was also in a quiet and well- maintained building, so street noise was at a minimum. Mirella was extremely helpful and gracious and provided us upon arrival with a list of reasonably priced nearby restaurants, nearby sights, as well as putting us in touch with a wonderful tour guide for the Vatican and Rome's primary archaeological sights. She also helped out with other practicalities such as where to find an internet cafe and she arranged a very reasonably priced taxi to and from the airport to the apartment. The apartment was close to the Campo de Fiori which is a wonderful place to shop, watch people, and stroll the narrow, picturesque streets. Because the apartment was on the second floor it did not have a lot of natural light but there was a roof garden with a magnificent view of the neighborhood and every evening we'd sit up there with a glass (or two) of wine and a few snacks watching the birds swoop, listening to the church bells chime, and to the noise of the city. We would definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend this apartment.

This is our 3rd trip to Rome, but first staying in an apartment. We stayed a week in May and loved the location. It was better than exptected with just a 10 minute walk to sites like the Campo Fiori, St Angelo, Piazza Novana, and a minute walk to the cafe, grocery store, 3 restaurants, the internet cafe and bank. The apartment was perfect and very comfortable, The apartment was extremely quiet with the windows open, we manged to overlseep 2 days! The photos described the apartment perfectly, it was clean and well stocked. Lots of Rome guides and maps available for our use. We were able to dodge the rain and enjoy the shared Rooftop terrace a few evenings. We ate twice at a restaurant 2 doors down and enjoyed an enoteca that was right across the street We took a private tour with Pietro (recommendation from Mirella) to Villa D Este and Hadrains Villa. This was the highlight of our trip. Pietro was so passionate about the area and brought everything to life for us. Mirella was so helpful from the initial booking to the very end. We would defininately stay here again.

My wife and I rented Mirella's apt. for 2 weeks in April, we were enjoying having a place we could prepare some meals and also a room that was very handy to all the sights. As this was our second visit to Rome we knew the area we wanted. The apt. was perfect and as we expected from the web site and photos. On our tenth day my wife got very sick and had to be hospitalised, If it haden't been for Mirellas help and advice we would have been in a mess. She went to the hospital with me to help with talking to the staff if needed, which made us feel relieved. She also checked on my wife daily until we left to see if she needed anything. So if you are coming to Rome Mirellas apt. will be a good bet and Mirella is a great landlady. Mike and Mary, California

Carmen and Mirella. These two ladies are the BEST, they were so helpful with every concern we had about our trip - they helped us with everything, transportation, you name it, just everything.. We cannot say enough about how gracious, kind, helpful and friendly Carmen & Mirella are. They really go out of their way to help you - and with things that are of no benefit to them, they just want to make sure your trip is the best. They assisted us before we left home, when we arrived, all through our stay, and, they are even assisting us with our trip this year and we are not even staying in Rome. Thank you Mirella for all your help while my mother and I were visiting Rome. Your apartment is in a great neighborhood in easy walking distance to most of the sites. Plentiful restaurants, groceries, pharmacy, bakeries all close by. We also appreciate your recommendation of Anna Maria Gehle as a tour guide. My husband and I stayed in Mirella's lovely apartment for our honeymoon in July. The location is perfect walking distance to everything you would want to see in Rome. The neighborhood is very safe, and the roof top garden is a great place to watch the sun set after a long day with a cold Peroni! Mirella is a fantastic host; I would stay here again on my next trip to Rome!
