If you haven't been to Boulder, Colorado you're in for a treat. Voted best small city in America for decades, it has everything you want from a big city, with world-class restaurants, a major university and an abundance of cultural events, but feels like a town.
Our rustic and private spacious home is 6 miles up Beautiful Sunshine Canyon, just minutes from Pearl Street Mall in Downtown Boulder. We have incredible views while in the forest. Boulder has fantastic weather all year round to play golf, hike the foothills, stroll the streets, see a sporting event or just relax without the disturbances of a hotel.
Our 3500 sq ft home is a great family home, perfect for 2 families, fun for kids (pool table) or a great romantic getaway. It's fully equipped with everything you may need or want, with great views from every window and often have deer strolling or napping in our yard. There's a garage for your convenience and a large deck with outdoor hot tub.
We love our home and think you will as well. It can be your home away from home while visiting beautiful Boulder, Colorado. Enjoy!

We stayed at this place for a week. It was great. There were 11 of us and we had ample room to roam and congregrate. Hot tubs at sunset were awesome. The views were amazing. My kids had a blast adventuring around the mountainside. We really enjoyed the fact it was in the mountains yet so close to Boulder and the super cool town of Gold Hill. Gold Hill Inn is a must for dinner! The house was as advertised and we had no problem finding it. Totally do it again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Hi Mark, thank you for your review. We are so glad you had a great time at the Sunshine House. Yes, it's fun being close to a big town like Boulder and the little gold mining town of Gold Hill, both offer so much in different ways. Thanks again for posting, come stay with us again sometime soon, best, David

We stayed for a week in July 2012 in this house. We were eight adults and two kids. The main floor with kitchen and living area was fine, master bedroom and bath was o.k. However, the rest of the bedrooms were inferiour. All the mattresses were lumpy and uncomfortable, and should be replaced. The basement room with two beds and next to the washer/dryer was windowless and musty. We were not able to reach the agent or owner by phone; mailbox was full! No clear directions were given on how to reach the house without mapquest!Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
Owner response: Hi Hans, I'm sorry to hear about your stay and I'm not sure how you weren't able to reach the owner or myself, our phones are always on and with us. The owner recently replaced the downstairs beds and map quest has always been sufficient on guests finding the house.

Actually my rating is to the low end of Good. The listing described the location and layout accurately. Photos, particularly the interior ones, showed the property in a better light than actuality. The property was cleaned up. However, there are some rough spots: the large deck is rotting in several places and a large repair job is in order; the refrigerator leaked water to the bottom of the refrigerator and ruined a couple of pans of desserts we had pre-made, we wiped up water each morning in the bottom of the fridge; 13 CAN sleep here, but the mattresses on the bunk beds, the lower bedroom near the washer/drier, and the game room are really not very good and are uncomfortable. We put air mattresses under these. There was only one dish rag, one hot pad, and one dish towell-pretty minimal for a place this large. With these improvements completed, I could move the rating to very good.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Hi Michael, thank you for your honest review. We want people to have a pleasant experience while staying at The Sunshine Home. I've talked with the owner and we are addressing the improvements that you have pointed out and welcome the feedback. In the welcome letter, we invite guests to call us right away if there's any issues. Since the house is large and can sleep many people, especially families with small children and dogs, there is wear and tear, and we strive to have it be continually maintained. Again, we appreciate the feedback and wish you a fantastic summer, best, David (manager)

Our family stayed here for the Labour Day weekend. Challenging ride up the hill to get to property but great scenery and wildlife long side the road on trips up and down the mountain.Lots of parking with 2 car garage and large driveway. The inside of the home was just as promised in ad with lots of room for the 9 of us as well as up to 13 for breakfast. The owner was very helpfull in showing us all the amedities and making us feel right at home. Home is full stocked with everything that was needed to make our family holiday complete. The views from the large windows all around were breathtaking and the area was serene and peacefull. (Neighbours were a little loud on first night but quiet after) Enjoyed nature as a friendly fox came and posed for pictures on the deck twice while we were here on Saturday morning and again Sunday night. We were close to city for Golf and Shopping. Lots of great family memories to share for a lifetime.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

I'm a bit late with this review, but time flies. All I need to say is: Thank God the house was spared during the 2010 fire. It's loss would have been a tragedy, for Steve and his guests like us. We loved staying there, all 8 of us. We also hosted a brunch for our niece’s wedding party with about 30. Most gathered outside around the patio, but many found time to visit the rooms inside. Lots of place to sit, games, and views. Some competition for the wonderful hammock. It was one of my favorite spots to absorb the mountain ambiance. Kie and I loved our walks, even past a lot of burned trees. Thanks to Steve and David for providing us with such a nice experience.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We had a wonderful time at the Sunshine house. The drive to the house was gorgous and the house had plenty of room for our family. A well equipped kitchen so we could cook and have a great family vacation together. We will recommend this house to our family and friends. Thank you, Angie RexroadDid you find this review helpful? Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: A small cabin was built here in 1972 but we did a major addition in 2004 to fit our family needs. It's a great family house and we love the Boulder vibe.
Why the Owner Chose Boulder:
We love being in the mountains surrounded by pine trees yet we're close to downtown Boulder so it's convenient to get into town. It stays cooler in the summer and we get more snow in the winter but the roads are maintained making it easy to reach.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We have the largest vacation rental in the Boulder area, perfect for families and groups. It sleeps 15 in main house.
