Perfect Getaway on Lake Hartwell
Why the Owner Chose Clemson
It's a great location, just a short drive from home. Very easy access off the interstate, yet quiet. Lake Hartwell is beautiful but not too crowded.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love unwinding at our comfortable lakehouse, far away from the daily hustle and bustle. We often bring friends over because there's plenty of room for everyone, and the kids love their own "private quarters" on the lower level! Our screened porch is a wonderful place to have dinner. The location of the house makes it a great place for kids to ride their bikes, and the cove is very safe for swimming! We have lots of games to keep them busy too. There are some folding chairs down by the dock to watch a magical sunset, glass of wine in hand...
Two excellent restaurants are located at Portman Marina: The Galley (American cuisine with brick oven and great bar; picture windows overlooking the lake) and Nami Asian Bistro.

We're a family of 4, living in the metro Atlanta area. We're just 1h15' away from the lake, which makes it great for weekend getaways. Our 10- and 8-year olds love spending time at the lake house, going out on our boat or just swimming in the cove!

My buddies and I stayed at this property for a bass tournament. The house was perfect. Plenty of parking for our boats (in the water and out). The three bathrooms was a big plus. We had everything that we needed. Also, the house is centrally located on the lake and close to plenty of boat ramps. If only the fishing had been as good as the house....

We spent an enjoyable day and night at this lake house. The beds were comfortable, the house was very clean, and the dock was wonderful. The screened in porch was a great place to hang out and the kitchen was a very nice size with a lot of new touches. The spiral staircase was a cool addition, but one needs to be careful with small children as it was a little difficult to navigate carrying a toddler. Otherwise, we had no complaints and would gladly spend another weekend there.

This lakehouse sits at the end of the road making it nice and private. The rooms are spacey and comfortable. Our kids enjoyed the downstairs kids room as it descends from the upstairs by the way of spiral stair case and they called it their castle as they have their own bathroom and another "hideaway room" We enjoyed swimming in the lake as well as the amenities such as dart board and the ping pong (we left new paddles there for the next visitors. :-) The drive to neighboring towns were pretty easy. Anderson is about 30 minutes and Atlanta was about an hour and half. Try the Chicken Basket for one of the best Country Fried Steaks and the Spotted Pig (off of exit one on I-85) for the best BBQ in the area. The house is homey and the property is well maintained. Comfortable for all of us (4 adults, 3 kids, 7,6, and 3) Bring a kayak or a blow up boat. The fishing is great also using local herring and weight. We are hoping to take our friends there next time.

We have rented this house 4 times over the past 2 years. Two of those times we stayed for 2 weeks. We love it! The photos do not do this house justice. It is roomy, comfortable, and has plenty of room for up to 10 people. The bedrooms and baths are arranged so that 3 separate couples have their own bedroom and bathroom. Children (and adults!) love the bunk beds in the basement. The best part about this house is the HUGE screened-in porch. We usually have our meals out on this porch, so we can enjoy the summer evenings without being eaten alive by mosquitos! The house is in a private cove with very quiet neighbors, and the covered dock is a real plus during the sunny days. If you like to fish, this house is in a perfect location. Our friends and family have caught many fish just outside of this cove during our stays. I also love that the house is only a short drive from I-85 and local grocery stores and bait stores. We often take a 10 minute boat ride to the restaurants at Portman Marina for a nice evening out. We will definitely be renting this house again!
