Wonderful Wildwood

We had a fantastic weekend from start to finish. Fished, hiked, swam, explored bike trails, boated at Lake Texoma, relaxed by the camp fire and enjoyed family time! I highly recommend Wildwood Ranch for an easy family getaway.

Indian Princess Weekend

Guest: Marty (Carrollton, Tx)
Date of Stay: 04/13/12 Review Submitted: 04/22/12

This is our second time to stay at Wildwwod Ranch and once again we had a blast. Our Father/Daughter tribe was looking for a place to tent camp and I remembered staying here before with my son's group. We had the experience of sleeping under the stars with tents along with the luxury of the beautiful house, kitchen, showers, and restrooms steps away. The girls fished most of the morning and caught several bass and perch in the ponds. We swam in the pool in the afternoon to cool off and toured the ranch on bikes and a golf cart. We heard wild turkey gobbling nearby and saw deer in the meadow. We wrapped up the day grilling out steaks and then making samores at the campfire. Your pavilion was a new additiion that was great for eating under and spending the evenings catching up. We had a great time and the Dads and Girls all agreed we are coming back here in the fall for our next weekend. Thanks so much Susan for answering all our questions before the stay and Cullum for greeting us and checking on us over the weekend. We could ask for a better weekend out with our daughters and only 75 minutes North of Dallas.

Daddy / Daughter Camp Out - Fall 2011

Guest: 2011 Crazy Daisies (North Dallas)
Date of Stay: 11/04/11 Review Submitted: 12/03/11

Susan, Thanks for a great experience at Wildwood Ranch last month (Nov 2011). The girls and dad's both had a great time. Our Daddy/Daughter "Tribe" does such a camping trip each fall and spring - but your coordination efforts, the facilities and your hospitality made this one of our best camp outs yet! Even the trip there and back home was pleasent - being only about an hour away from North Dallas! Hope to be back soon!

Second time staying here. We rent it for a long weekend and it's becoming a tradition. Very secluded, very peaceful. If you are looking for a way to get away from DFW you can't really go wrong with Wildwood.

Amazing Guy's Weekend Getaway!

Guest: Jimmy (Dallas)
Date of Stay: 09/16/11 Review Submitted: 09/23/11

Many thanks to Cullum and Susan for allowing us to stay at their beautiful ranch house. We had absolutely perfect weather during our stay which allowed us to enjoy all the wonderful things the ranch had to offer. The fishing was great, we caught so many fish, we played pool volleyball, then took the game out to the sand volleyball court for some more action. The ranch house is surrounded by acres and acres of woods that provided us with a peaceful and refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of our lives. We grilled out each night under the bright stars and couldn't think of a better place we would want to be. Myself and the rest of the guys are already talking to our wives about planning a couples getaway, we loved it so much and think the women in our lives would enjoy it just as much. Thanks again Cullum and Susan for such a wonderful weekend!

Beautiful and Comfortable

Date of Stay: 08/26/11 Review Submitted: 08/31/11

I can not tell you how much we enjoyed this gorgeous spot. As hot and dry as it is we still were able to catch some fish. The pool was excellent everything was much better than promised. We met Jose when we arrived and he made us feel very welcome. He is very nice and does an excellent job with your beautiful property. We were already talking about coming back in the fall to be able to use the fire pits. Wish there was a hot tub but everything else there is to do there is more than enough to stay busy. The house was stocked very well and the decorations were beautiful. The beds were so comfortable I slept like a rock first good sleep I have had in months. We were sitting at the pavillion on saturday night and a grey fox walked right up to us a little later we got visited by a baby and momma raccoon. They got as close as 3 feet away they were really fun to watch. Game room was lots of fun also we had a ping pong tournament it was a blast. The groom had a blast fishing playing water volleyball, ping pong and just relaxing. Thank you again for such a great time we look forward to our next visit.

We had a great time during our stay at Wildwood Ranch. The property has it all and is well maintained. The kids were never bored with the pool, bikes, ping-pong and fishing every morning and evening. Cullum and Susan are very nice people to work with and Jose does a great job taking care of the pool and grounds, he is also very friendly and accomodating. We look forward to a return vacation and highly recommend it for those looking for a quiet, secluded get-away.

Relaxing and Peaceful

Guest: Carol (Arlington, TX)
Date of Stay: 06/24/11 Review Submitted: 07/01/11

We stayed at Wildwood Ranch over a 4-day weekend relaxing, enjoying the pool, chilling on the pavilion, and crusing around in golf carts checking out the 160 acres of beautiful scenery. It was spectacular and just what the doctor ordered. The house was extremely comfortable and well-stocked with everything you can dream you'll need for such a stay. Our group of friends has been vacationing together for 28 years and all agree that the WILDWOOD RANCH is above and beyond in taking care of their guests. We especially appreciated Jose and all the attention he paid us during our visit. He was warm and hospitable and very considerate. WE WILL RETURN!!! :)

Another Great Stay

Guest: KGuinn (Allen)
Date of Stay: 06/16/11 Review Submitted: 06/30/11

We are returning guests. We have vacationed at Wildwood Ranch with another family the past two years. This year we added another family. We have had a great time both years! Both the house and property were wonderful. The pictures are beautiful but hardly do it justice. The property was immaculate when we arrived and the groundskeeper was there to meet us and make sure that all our needs were met. Susan and Cullum are the nicest people and make you feel so welcome. They are available to answer all your questions (and quickly). We look forward to making this a group annual trip and we are in fact already planning a trip for the fall. Everything you need is located right on the property. The boys got a lot of fishing in, in fact one morning they caught a bass that was over 11 lbs. There is a lot of wildlife to see. We were able to see a small fox every evening as well as peacocks roaming around. This property is a Texas treasure !

Once again, me and my buddies had the time of a lifetime. The property is awesome, and the fishing was sweet! Cullum and Susan went way above and beyond to accomidate us, and they made it seem effortless. Jose was great help, and the land is some of the most beatuful terrain in Texas. The house is great, but we spent very little time in it, because the outdoors is where it's at. Thanks again Susan and Cullum, both of you are very special to our group!

I almost hate to write this review - since it might make it harder to reserve it again in the future once the word gets out about how great this place is. We had an "Indian Princess" father/daughter camp out and this location was perfect for spending time together with our kids. They never got bored all weekend - and loved fishing, playing volleyball, swimming, hiking, biking, ping-pong, making smores...and more. Highly recommended!

Cullum & Susan - Wildwood Ranch was the perfect getaway we needed. We had a great time and the kids really enjoyed their stay. The house is set up perfectly for multiple families and the kids have their own play room that's spacious enough for them to sleep and play in. The property is beautiful and we had a great time fishing and enjoying the outdoors. It's quiet, peaceful and a great place to relax without having to fly or drive hours to get there. Thanks to your staff. They did a great job making sure we were well taken care of...we've already told several friends and we can't wait to visit again!

We stayed 4 nights over Labor Day weekend for my husband's 40th birthday and had an absolute blast! From the comfy beds, nice bed linens and the huge game room to the fully stocked kitchen- the inside is cozy, spacious and wonderfully-appointed. The outdoors, though, are the reason to come to Wildwood.... the walking trails, saltwater pool, pavilion, fishing, fire pit... we did it all and could not think of a thing that they didn't have! They also have outdoor dog runs, so we brought our two dogs who may have had even more fun than us :) The grounds are meticulously kept and there is plenty of room to explore and stretch your legs. If you are from the city this place is wonderful because you cannot see or hear a soul. The stars at night are amazing... you will not want to leave! We will definitely be back to Wildwood Ranch... thank you Susan and Cullum!!

Owner response:That is what we like to hear!! Thanks for saying so. We try hard and my ranch hands take great pride in having everything looking beautiful when a guest arrives! Love to hear that a good time was had by all!!

This is our second year coming to the Ranch House and as always my family had a great time. There was something for everyone to do, from my 5 year old niece to my 80 year old dad. It was a toss up of who really had a better time, the family or the dogs. Look forward to doing it again next year.

Beautiful Texas get-away

Guest: Jill (Dallas, TX)
Date of Stay: 07/22/10 Review Submitted: 08/13/10

This vacation house offers spacious accommodations, while still maintaining a quaint, cozy feel that vacationers will appreciate. The home has Texas style and charm, both inside and outside. Guests will especially love the game/bunk room, and the many outside play areas. The salt-water pool is relaxing, and will surely provide hours of enjoyment. The outside sitting/camp fire area is a great spot to eat, visit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings - the wild deer in the morning and the star-filled skies at night are definite bonuses. There is no shortage of things to do - for guests of all ages. Some of the many activities include biking trails (which are great), horseshoes, tire swing, fishing in the ponds, a volleyball court (which we used for badminton), and camp fires/s'more making. Bring lots of outdoor games/activities - the trees surrounding the house provide shade from the sun (being outdoors all day is entirely possible and quite likely while at Wildwood Ranch.) The inside of the home is just as enjoyable. The beds are soft, the pillows are comfy, and there are more than enough towels, blankets, shampoo/conditioner, etc. The kitchen comes with all that you would need, but not think to bring - salt, pepper, sugar, coffee, etc. These comforts make Wildwood Ranch feel like a vacation "home away from home." The property owners are great to deal with - very helpful and easy to contact and communicate with; they seem to enjoy sharing their special get-away with others. We feel Wildwood Ranch stands out for its comfortable, relaxing, surrounded-by-the-beauty-of-nature atmosphere.

Fantastic Time!!

Guest: KGuinn (Allen)
Date of Stay: 07/08/10 Review Submitted: 07/15/10

We recently stayed at the ranch with another family and had a fantastic time. The property is gorgeous and the home is so comfortable. The photos don't do the place justice. We were a group of two families with 4 children. It rained a lot while we were there but we had such a great time despite the rain sitting under the pavillion and enjoying the views. The house was spacious and you just felt like home (or as if you wished it was your home). Even with two families there was enough room to spread out and not be on top of one another. It was one of our favorite family vacations and we can't wait to come back.

Owner response:Thank you very much!!!! I also am so glad you guys had fun. It was nice meeting you and I’ll bet those babies slept well with the rain hitting the pavilion roof!! You guys looked very comfortable in the rockers. Did my heart well to see it used like that!! By the way, NO ONE comes during the fall / winter months and they are the BEST!!!! Absolutely our favorite. Rarely that cold (a few degrees cooler than in Dallas) but camp fires are just the best and the woods, when all the leaves change, and after they have dropped, oh the woods are just magical. But no one thinks about it.

Fantastic Get Away

Guest: Joanna (Dallas)
Date of Stay: 07/08/10 Review Submitted: 07/14/10

This was one of our best family get aways. Only an hour up the road from Dallas, Wildwood Ranch is convenient, but once you're there you feel like you are far from the city. This property is very well maintained with beautiful natural landscaping. Upon arriving, the property was even more than we expected. A nice saltwater pool, ponds stocked with fish, and an awesome upstairs gameroom for the kids are just a few of the amenities. Also, a huge covered gazebo with lights and ceiling fans was a perfect hang out for the evenings--very cool and comforatable even in July! Fun for kids and adults. We can't wait to go back.

Owner response:What a bonus for us - both families from one weekend submitting such great reviews! Thanks so much for all the nice compliments! We are so happy that everyone had such a nice time.

Ranch House

Date of Stay: 06/06/10 Review Submitted: 06/14/10

If you would enjoy a wonderful house far away from the maddening crowd, then this ranch house is for you. We were a group of nine, including three small children, and everyone wants to return. Swimming pool, horseshoes, volley ball, hiking trails, all kept us busy outside. We particularly enjoyed the nearby pavilion where we savored the evening breezes as well as champagne cocktails, our eyes pealed for deer and turkey. The children (as well as the adults) loved the foosball and table tenni inside. We are "foodies" in our family and we found the kitchen fully stocked with everything a cook might desire. In addtion, every detail of a guest's comfort was anticipated, from tissues in every room of the house to down comforters for a perfect night's sleep. My family felt as though we had a little bit of heaven and would definitely consider this rental again in the future.

Owner response:Thank for the nice review. We do try hard to pay attention to every detail in an effort to provide our guests with a perfect stay. It is nice that it is noticed. Thanks! As you observe when you recalled savoring the evening breezes, at the end of the day it is the woods, the property, being with friends, sitting around the pool, the fire or a walk in the woods - the tranquility of the ranch, the escape from the city - that provide those details that really make the experience.

Date of Stay: 04/23/10 Review Submitted: 04/27/10

I was lucky enough to spend my 30th birthday weekend at Wildwood Ranch - and what a perfect place it was! Thanks to my husband finding such a hidden jewel, I was able to fish in the ponds, play in the pool, explore the beautiful grounds, enjoy a grilled out dinner under the pavilion and sit around the fire pit with close friends - and it was all made possible in these 160 acres in Grayson County. Pictures just don't do Wildwood Ranch enough justice - and as if the outdoors weren't enough, the house was great, too. Our group was extremely comfortable and enjoyed all the great amenities the property had to offer. I would highly recommend Wildwood Ranch to anyone looking for an affordable place to enjoy a relaxing weekend away from all of the hustle and bustle of the city. We will definitely be back...many thanks to The Thompsons!

What a cool place The Wildwood Ranch is! We had so much fun. My wife is forever grateful for such a great birthday party! Everyone was already discussing when we can plan our next trip there. The pictures on the website, don't do it any justice. I thought it looked great from the pictures, but it's ten times better in person. It's so hard to capture the beauty of all 160 acres in just a few pictures. The accommodations are fantastic! It's set perfectly for some really great entertaining. Susan and Cullum, the owners, are great as well. They are very accommodating and put it as their top priority to make sure you have a comfortable and satisfying stay.

Swimming in the sports pool, Karyoke in the living room, ping pong and foosball in the garme room, biking on many trails, hiking, and fishing in one of three ponds were the activitities that our family enjoyed over the weekend. Watching a four year catch a perch on a "Princess:" rod and reel was priceless. Paddling an old aluminum boat was great fun as well. The house was comfortable with a great kitchen, and a very nice master suite. Could have used another bathroom.

We stayed at the Wildwood as a bachelor party/guys weekend and loved it. The property and house is very well kept and nicely furnished. We were there in April so the weather was perfect to get in the pool. We also golfed at a course right on Lake Texoma that had great grass and was a nicely designed course. The trails are perfect for biking, horses, and walking. 160 acres was plenty to keep us busy exploring for the weekend. The house slept the 9 of us very comfortably and cooking was great with the grill and full kitchen. If you want to get away and relax, this is your place. The owners Susan and Cullum are very nice and accommodating people.
