Well, we are just (very sadly) back from our best vacation ever! Pam's condo is everything the website says and more.....nothing beats waking up to a beautiful ocean view from your bed and having coffee on your bedroom deck in your p.j.'s; or taking a shower in an open bath that overlooks the jungle (had to get over my shyness!); or opening all the patio doors when you come home and having the cool ocean breeze and sounds wash over you. The condo has everything you need to eat at home, go to the beach, and enjoy quiet evenings at home. We even had two loads of laundry done for $10 usd plus a tip--Maria is amazing and kept the condo spotless. The caretakers helped us with whatever we needed, Jorge peeling fresh coconuts for us to eat and drink and Epy looking after any concerns with the condo and giving directions to special places. We always felt like we were coming home when we got back from a day of exploring the area, welcomed by the resident cat at the bottom of the stairs. We loved the town of Akumal and did actually see giant "tortugas" (sea turtles) when we were snorkelling at the main beach in Akumal. All the restaurants in town were amazing....Lucy's homemade salted caramel ice cream cones and fried fish tacos, La Buena Vida's ribs, fajitas, and happy hour complete with swings and treehouses to drink from, Turtle Bay bakery's amazing breakfasts and desserts, the best fresh cooked fish you will ever have at La Cueva del Pescador, and a Cuban band and 5 star meal at Lol-Ha on the beach. We also loved Tequillaville in Akumal pueblo where we met and visited with the owner Ken and loved the food, and Loncheria Akumalito where I had chicken enchiladas in a mole sauce. Mmmmm.... We rented a car (great prices on Priceline) and took day trips to Tulum, Dos Ojos Cenote, Playa Del Carmen, and Yal Ku Lagoon where there was amazing snorkelling. One week is just not long enough to take in all the amazing sites, but we did a good job of going out on morning jaunts and then taking siesta's in the extremely hot afternoons in our wonderful king size bed and air-conditioned room in the condo. Quick shower and change and off to a delicious dinner! We can see why you chose this special spot to be your retirement home, Pam. I could live there forever and never want to be anywhere else. Thank you so much for sharing it with us and letting us make memories that will stay with us forever. Greg and Bernadette Canada :)

What a fabulous place to end our month in Mexico! After travelling from Playa to Cozumel and finally landing in Akumal, Pam's penthouse at Mi Casa del Mar was absolutely wonderful. The condo was spacious and well appointed. The decor was a funky blend of "eclectic beach" and every corner begged for you to lounge and read, nap or simply watch the waves outside the floor to ceiling windows. There must be over 100 DVD's and CD's for you to watch! The staff at the condo building were very helpful and attentive from the moment we arrived in Akumal and Pam was great to talk to both over the phone and by email. You can't beat the snorkeling in the bay - so many fish, rays and turtles. There are wonderful restuarants in town within walking distance and we found them to be very reasonably priced. Thank you Pam for a wonderful stay. We'll be back soon!

Spent a sunny, breezy week at this fabulous penthouse, Feb 18-25/12. The outdoor shower is amazing, the view from all the bedrooms – jungle or Caribbean side is fabulous, and you’ll never tire of the crashing wave sounds from the patio. Jorge and Maria took great care of us; the property is in great shape and no, the pictures don’t do it justice. Shopping locally and cooking was a treat with so many fresh ingredients to be found. Akumal is a friendly, laid-back village. Be sure to try the ice cream at Lucy’s and snorkelling at either beach – turtles seen at both! Don’t delay – book this place today. We’ve stayed all over the world in high-end rentals and the view and ambience at this place is the best yet.

This condo was perfect! The two walls of windows and sliding doors really brought the sights and sounds of the ocean inside. With the huge decks you could find sun or cover with a pleasant breeze. The condo was spacious with an open floor plan, making it comfortable and relaxing when everyone was together. We found the location ideal. We rented bikes and used them many times a day going to the Akumal Beach and restaurants. This was less than a five minute ride. We did our swimming at Akumal Beach. The beach in front of the condo was rocky with rough waters, but it was a pleasant contrast to the Akumal Beach. We always looked forward to coming back and relaxing at peaceful Casa Del Mar. The grounds were immaculate and the pool was clean and warm. Pam was friendly and helpful. Hope to return again.

We spent 5 days here on a girls get away... All I can say is WOW~ Akumal is the perfect spot to vacation! It felt safe we walked around at night with no issues what so ever... The food at the local restaurants was just wonderful as well. All the staff you find at Mi Casa Del Mar are helpful and extremely friendly... and to leave the best for last... the penthouse... Oh MY~ it's beautiful so much room and the views are outstanding! I have to say the king bed upstairs has to be the most comfortable one I've ever slept on away from home... nothing like waking up to the sound of the ocean in one ear and the jungle birds in the other in a soft posh bed..... now to me that's paradise! can't wait to return!

Though our recent trip to Akumal was shorter than we would have liked (only five nights), the condo was perfect for our needs and allowed us to completely relax. Very, very, comfortable interior; spacious patio areas with postcard views; and a great Akumal location. In fact, for me, the location was one of the prime selling points. A short walk to either Half Moon or Akumal beach allows you to skip getting a car or to just leave it at the condo. In past trips we have stayed on Half Moon Bay or the south end of Akumal Bay, but this location is superior. The condo was clean and well stocked, the on-site staff were very friendly and helpful, and the building's grounds (particularly the pool) were great. We hope to return.

The rooms, pool, ocean view and uniqueness of this place is indescribable. The perfect place for a quiet getaway vacation. We enjoyed the local food, snorkeling and low key feel of this village. From the first minute we got to the condo we were in love. It was dark when we got there so we sat on the terrace listening to the wind and waves letting all our cares be washed away. The first view at sunrise the next day took our breath away. The condo itself is warm and open, the panoramic views of ocean and jungle are incredible. The master bedroom with it's outdoor shower overlooking the jungle is an experience not to be missed. We had planned to go on a few excursions as there are plenty to choose, but fell in love with Akumal and never left the town the entire 9 days. 0.4 miles in either direction will bring you to someplace fun or funky to hang out and eat. We loved Turtle Bay Cafe and had most of our meals there. La Buena Vida with it's swings at the bar and excellent, reasonably priced food right on the beach was fun. We highly recommend booking the catamaran tour through the original Akumal Dive Shop. The 36' Kataris and her crew provided a fantastic and fun filled day. We took off from Akumal Beach and fished our way to a beautiful, private lagoon where we snorkeled and swam and played on the beach while Captain Angel and crew set up lunch under a crazy looking shade tree with it's twisted roots and what looked and tasted like bunches of grapes hanging down. We had caught a decent sized barracuda and that became seviche for an appetizer with fresh guacamole, fresh salsa, pineapple and mango with plenty of Dos Equis beer and for the main course--fried grouper. No breading just salt pepper and oil for the most incredible meal of the whole vacation. Back at Akumal Beach we snorkeled with the sea turtles and then had drinks at Lol-Ha. We can't say enough of how much we loved our vacation at Mi Casa Del Mar. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean was clean and refreshing and the local lizards were very entertaining and would eat fruit out of your hand. The cove and coral beach in front of the condo was an everchanging seascape of every shade of blue imaginable. Just being able to listen to the wind and the waves from anywhere on the property and to see the most beautiful colors of sunrise and sunset and everything in between was soothing to the soul. This property was more than we ever could have hoped for and I would highly recommend staying there.
