“If you read a lot, nothing is as great as you’ve imagined. Venice is—Venice is better.”
~ Fran Lebowitz
After a long day of exploring in Venice, imagine what a pleasure it will be to return home to your own apartment in Castello, La Serenissima’s most authentic neighborhood. You’ll get a taste of the real Venice while enjoying a can’t-miss location.
And in these days of economic uncertainty, renting an apartment is the most cost-effective way to enjoy your Venetian sojourn. Not only do you get more space for less than you’d pay in a hotel, you’ll appreciate the extras that save you time and money, like having a fully-equipped kitchen, so you don’t have to eat out for every meal, and a telephone and high-speed wireless internet, so you don’t have to hunt around for an internet café. We don’t like getting nickled and dimed while traveling, either, so our pricing is straightforward, with no hidden charges or gotchas.
The apartment is one building back from the Riva dei Sette Martiri, a wide, sunny walkway that runs along the waterfront all the way to St. Mark’s Square, just 10 minutes from your door, but a world away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist track. It's a short, picturesque walk to Venice’s major sights, as well as some of the city’s lesser-known charms, and close to both the Arsenale and Giardini vaporetto stops.
Our quiet, light-filled apartment has a comfortable and efficient floor plan. The open kitchen and living room area are airy and spacious, perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine while your dinner simmers on the stove. The kitchen has with good pans and knives, a four-burner stove, large refrigerator and freezer, microwave, and a dishwasher. Everything you need to prepare meals is at hand, once you're done shopping for fresh fish and produce, either at the famous Rialto market or the local markets on nearby Via Garibaldi, where you'll find all the local shops and services you need. The living room couch also folds out to a double bed, so the apartment could sleep five, though it’s really better suited to two or three. There is one bathroom with a shower over the tub.
The large “matrimoniale” bedroom features a romantic canopy bed, a desk, and lots of storage for your clothes—unpack and stay a while! There’s a small room that can be used as an office or a single bedroom, and a little loft office, accessed by a spiral staircase, with a desk, some games, and bookshelves full of guidebooks and novels… a perfect nook to hide out and read.
The top-floor flat is up 58 steps, with no elevator, and boasts lovely views from every window. On one side, you overlook a quiet, green park and see all the way to the Lido. Watch boats plying the waters by the bell tower and cathedral on San Giorgio Maggiore and glimpse Santa Maria della Salute, visible in the distance from the bedroom and the loft.
No need to be out of touch (unless you want to be!): There is a telephone (you’ll need a calling card for long-distance calls) and we also provide a local cell phone to use, if you’d like. And yes, there is high-speed wifi in the apartment (though you need to bring your own computer), a telephone, and even an Italian cellular phone you can use. We've also taken care to make sure the apartment has little extras to make your stay comfortable. There are several pairs of rubber boots for those pesky high water days, a wheeled shopping cart so you can shop like a local, and good reading lights.
The weekly rental rate is 850 euros. Stays less than one week are 135 euros a night. Our rates are all inclusive, with no hidden extras. Be careful when comparison shopping: Many rentals tack on mandatory surcharges such as expensive cleaning fees, charge you for heating and electricity you consume, or raise prices during high season. We don't.
We are happy to arrange longer or shorter stays, however please note that we have a three-night minimum stay requirement. There is no Saturday-to-Saturday stay requirement either. Please contact us for availability and visit our website for additional photos and information.
Marcel Proust wrote “When I went to Venice, my dream became my address.” So why not find yourself at home in Venice?

Live the Dream in Your Own Venetian Apartment
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Venice
Charles Dickens summed it up well: "Nothing in the world that you ever heard of Venice is equal to the magnificent and stupendous reality." Owning a home here was the realization of our dream.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
Our neighborhood is non-touristy, so you can sample Venetian life. Walk along the waterfront, stroll through the gardens, or stop at one of the terrific local stores for fresh product, handmade pasta, or some of the best gelato in town -- all without battling crowds.
I love this place. Try the seasonal flavors, like fresh cherry or watermelon. Castello 1342.
Another good spot for gelato, right on the waterfront. If they have dark chocolate that day, that's the one to pick!
The kind proprietors of this beautiful restaurant offer fantastic food.
The Majer, at 1591, has delectable pastries and some food basics, AND they're open Sundays! Enjoy a glass of wine at El Refolo, 1580. Or stop by the deli at 1561; the proprietor is a delight.
I love the spaghetti all'astice (with lobster) here at Castello 5225.
It's easy to reach the apartment from the train station; you can choose among several different boats to get here.
