Wonderful cabin -- definitely recommend!

Guest: Dee (Emeryville, CA)
Date of Stay: 03/09/12 Review Submitted: 03/13/12

This large, spacious cabin wonderfully accommodated our family. It was exactly as described in the listing, with lots of amenities including a full kitchen, comfortable beds, entertainment (pool table, foosball, hot tub, big screen tv, games, etc), and much more. We were even able to bring our dog! It definitely felt like a home away from home. The owners, Erik and Wendy, were helpful and flexible in accommodating our request for early check-in and late-check-out, and also checked in to make sure everything was going fine. Best of all, the location is VERY close to Heavenly + Heavenly Village, the casinos, etc. I don't think it could have gotten any better -- great cabin, great location, and great owners! Definitely recommend. There are quite a few steps to get to the entrance of the house, so be prepared for that, but it's worth it!

Awesome house in South Lake Tahoe! Probably most appropriate for two families with small children as the two master bedrooms have small attached bedrooms. One of the attached loft rooms can work for another couple, but the bathroom is downstairs. It can be accessed via a spiral staircase which can be tricky at night or after too many adult beverages. Downstairs bedroom for another couple and room over garage for another or for family with older children as the garage is set apart from the main house. We had three families with small kids, plus a couple with a dog so it took a little creative juggling as everyone wanted to stay in the main house. However, what makes this vacation home so awesome is the owners, Erik and Wendy. They are so easy to deal with and responsive to questions. They left frozen pizza, beer, wine, bottled water, chocolates, and hand warmers for us. The kitchen was super well stocked with all the essentials. These small touches make a huge difference and really made everyone feel welcomed. We were lucky that somehow many months ago, I booked the house for the weekend that had 2-3 feet of fresh powder. When I asked for a late checkout, Erik and Wendy were so accommodating, even suggesting that we stay the rest of the day and drive home after the traffic clears since they didn't have to turn the place around right away. We only ended up staying a few hours past checkout as everyone was exhausted, but it was nice to have a leisurely morning of playing in the snow before returning to reality. It's for all of these perks that I would totally recommend this vacation home and hope we can rent from Erik and Wendy again.

As an avid vacationer, you should take it from me… The Tall Lodge is definitely THE place be. A couple weeks ago, a large group of us drove up to Tahoe and stayed here for the weekend, and had an absolutely amazing stay, despite a significant lack of snow. The snow was so thin in fact, that if it wasn’t for the Tall Tree Lodge and its endless amount of entertaining amenities, our weekend could have easily ended up being disastrously boring. Seriously, this place really has everything. We loved it and can’t wait to come back! Thanks Erik and Wendy you were very accommodating!

Tall Tree Lodge

Guest: Lavinia
Date of Stay: 01/02/12 Review Submitted: 01/16/12

Our stay at the Tall Tree Lodge surpassed our expectations! We were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and how it seemed like our "home away from home". Our large group fit just nicely. Though no snow =( we had plenty of things to see and do and the distance was more than reasonable to near by activities. When indoors, the foosball table got us all excited and became a daily activity. We got some great and much needed exercise up and down the stairs leading up to the cabin. Erik and Wendy were available for contact during our stay, and made sure that anything we needed was taken care of. Overall, we feel very blessed to have been able to share in this cabin's beauty and inviting atmosphere. We will definitely be planning another trip in the near future. Thanks!

Just Perfect!

Guest: Katrina C.
Date of Stay: 12/02/11 Review Submitted: 12/05/11

Tall Tree Lodge was just perfect for our families! There was so much to do at any time of the day! The kids enjoyed playing hide n seek, sitting around the campfire, and just hanging out at the cabin. The adults loved the privacy of each room, and there was more than enough room for us all to sleep comfortably. The hot tub was thee place for all the adults to gather while the kids explored the backyard. We loved the large showers and REALLY enjoyed the japanese style soaking tub....so peaceful. After the long drive, we were able to enjoy the pizza and beer that was provided by Wendy and Erik(well, some of us preferred the wine!). The views are amazing, and the house was perfectly nestled in the woodsy area, yet still close to the bustling town. The Kitchen had everything we could've possibly needed, and there was enough seating for everyone. We were also pleasantly surprised to see Christmas decorations up; our family LOVES the holiday season and the glow of the Christmas tree was so inviting and relaxing. Already looking forward to returning! Thanks again to Wendy and Erik for being available to answer any and all questions we had.

Ideal location

For the past 13 years our family has spent one week together each summer. These summer "family week vacations" have proved to be a real bonding activity for our entire family; children and grandchildren. The week we spent in this home was wonderful. The configuration of the house allows for privacy or group activities. The outdoor area has plenty of room for bocce ball, horseshoes and even small hideaways for privacy when desired. The location is ideal; walking distance to the beach and easy access to lots of hiking areas. The large dining table provided seating for the whole family - perfect for our needs as dinner each night is a always a family affair.

We chose Tall Trees Lodge for our families yearly 'family week' vacation. The location was perfect - walking distance to beach and shopping and easy access to National Forest land for hiking. The owners welcome guests with lots of extras and makes one feel as if they are in their own homes.

Great Family Stay

Guest: Barbara & David
Date of Stay: 07/16/11 Review Submitted: 07/26/11

Hi Wendy & Eric, Just a quick note to let you know how much our family enjoyed the use of your wonderful Tall Trees Lodge. Our stay was problem free - other than occassionally having to eat our nightly family dinners in dim lighting. Did you know that 2 of the 4 lights above the dining table repeatedly go out? The added 'personal touches' such as the 'first nights dinner' make Tall Trees very welcoming to guests. Also appreciated the supplies available - for those pesky things one often forgets - condiments, shampoo, hand cream, etc., thanks! As for the rental agreement - the family couldn't find any significant problem - other than the length. Again thank you for all the welcoming touches and for the use of Tall Trees Lodge. Sincerely, Barbara & David PS - Eric, thank you again for all your help moving 'us' into Tall Trees. The steps were a real challenge for us 'older generation'. Your assistance was greatly appreciated.

Tall Tree Lodge was the perfect home and the perfect location for a multi-family get together including grandparents, parents, grandchildren and two dogs. Our stay was enhanced by easy access to the owners who offered excellent ideas for things to do in the South Lake Tahoe region. Their guidelines for use of the house were thorough and clear plus the kitchen was well stocked with the basics. This is a very child friendly home with games and other activities readily available. The children enjoyed playing on the flat, sandy field behind the house and roasting marshmallows for s'mores in the fire pit adjacent to the back deck. The bedrooms and baths are very private allowing quiet space for all guests. We hope to return soon to enjoy the home and the many amenities in the South Lake Tahoe region.

I went to Tall Tree Lodge with a few buddies for a weekend retreat. What an awesome experience! The cabin is perfect with everything a group would need. And Erik and Wendy are so accomodating and genuinely nice people! The location is a short distance from all the main attractions in South Lake, and at the same time while at the cabin you feel like your in the woods! It's perfect! I would reccomend this cabin to any group! Thanks again, Mike

Heavenly Time!

Guest: Tamy (Redding, CA)
Date of Stay: 05/13/11 Review Submitted: 05/26/11

This house has it all and is very well kept and supplied. The owners had done an amazing job in creating a very cozy atmosphere in this vacation home. It is huge and offers all you'd ever need. With large full master bedroom and full baths then all the added rooms and baths make this house simply accommodating in every way. The setting is ideal for privacy and some hiking, with a short 1.5 mile walk to the beach along with dining and cafe's along the way. The 'game' room that also serves as a place to stay is great for the additional family, or the kids in the bunch. The kitchen serves few to many and is easy to work in and the wrapping bend along the wall there is much room to everyone to help or sit relax and chat. The location is centered with a short walk or drive to ski or hike and not much further to the main hub of casinos. There is plenty of room out from to relax in the hammocks or toss a football around or just sit and relax. The back deck is fabulous to bbq, relax with friends or chill in the hot tub. This place is truly Heavenly!

Family Reunion

Date of Stay: 05/13/11 Review Submitted: 05/26/11

We stayed at this property from 5/13-5/15/11 for a family reunion. I was very impressed by the location of the property. If you enjoy snow skiing, you could throw a rock at Heavenly Valley Ski Resort. I had my children with me who both ski and they were very excited to come back and stay during ski season. There was quite a few of us visiting for the weekend and we were able to fit everyone in the house. This property was very spacious as well as clean from top to bottom. I will definitely pass on this jewel of a rental to my friends and family. Can't wait to visit again!

Outstanding Experience

Date of Stay: 03/02/11 Review Submitted: 04/15/11

We brought together 11 friends for a ski vacation in Tahoe, and based on the descriptions and reviews of this property, we contacted the owners about renting the place. From the initial contact through the end of our stay at the Tall Tree Lodge, Wendy and Eric were exceedingly responsive and helpful. Since I was responsible to plan the trip and decide on where to stay, their responsiveness was a great comfort and insured that the trip was a great experience for everyone. They made sure that the least of our worries during our stay was our "home base." The house was very clean and very nicely appointed, as was the guest house, which has a pool table and a bar. We all slept very comfortably, and the skiing was outstanding the entire time we were there. The house is quite close to Heavenly, and convenient to restaurants, grocery stores, and ski rental places as well. We had an outstanding time, and I would stay at Tall Tree Lodge again without reservation, as long as Eric and Wendy are the owners! Thank you! Ty K.

Owner response:We love to share our little slice of heaven, and look forward to hearing about the great times. Thanks for sharing & taking such great care of the place. We look forward to having you stay with us again. Erik & Wendy

Owners Wendy and Erik call the Tall Tree Lodge their "home away from home" and you'll feel like it's yours, too. Everything about the place is unbeatable. It's an amazing house with luxurious amenities in a fantastic location, and they keep it immaculately clean. Our group had a wonderful time skiing at nearby Heavenly Mountain, then relaxing by the fireplace in the evenings or using the hot tub, pool table, foosball and big-screen TV sets. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating, and easily accessible to answer questions. We have never felt more comfortable while on vacation, and we'll definitely return!

This great home has everything you need and more. The owners make sure that you feel like a friend coming to visit their property and are available for any concerns. The home backs up to National Forest property and you feel like you are on the edge of town although you are right in the heart of it. The property is very well maintained and the owners have made some impressive updates, i.e. heated steps up to the property. We look forward to staying here again.

Owner response:We are so glad you had such a great holiday at the Tall Tree Lodge. We are looking forward to having you back. Thanks for for noticing the improvements we have made, when you stay again next year you will enjoy even more upgrades.

This was the first time I had the experience of renting a home for vacation. I did not know what to expect with this house and the process of renting it. But Wendy and Erick made it all very easy for us. The house was wonderful. You just need to bring some food and clothing. There is everything you need and more. There was even pizzas in the refrigerator!!! We love the room on top of the garage!!! It is a perfect room for boys!! The house is very close to the markets, lakes, and the best wedding chapel! No more hotels!!! Love it!!

Owner response:We are so glad that your wedding was a great success. Thanks for choosing the Tall Tree Lodge, and taking such great care it! Looking forward to having you back for many years to come.

Wedding Weekend = FUN!

Guest: Christina (Bay Area, CA)
Date of Stay: 09/15/10 Review Submitted: 10/12/10

My husband and I recently got married in South Lake Tahoe. We found this property and contacted the owner immediately. To my surprise, I received a call from Wendy within 15 minutes (how's that for service?). We booked the Tall Tree Lodge to host members of our wedding party, family and friends over a 5 day period. Because we had so many people interested in staying at the Tall Tree Lodge, Wendy contacted one of her neighbors to see if she would be willing to rent us her property as well. Overall, FANTASTIC experience. Their house has everything you could possibly need, the owners are beyond friendly/accomodating/helpful, and the location is stellar. I highly recommend the Tall Tree Lodge and hope to be back there myself sooner than later! :)

Owner response:Looking forward to seeing some of those wedding pictures, I'm glad the weather turned out so perfect for your wedding. We look forward to have you stay with us again. Congrats!

Lots of room for all of us girls to celebrate a low-key bachelorette party. Loved the outdoor firepit, hot tub, big screen tv, location, and beautiful forest view. Great place to have our dog too. The hills kept us from biking, but we had a great walk to the water and the casinos were an easy drive.

Wendy - Thank You! Your home was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. We can tell that you take good care of your home and put in extra effort to make it comfortable. We laughed at how out-of-shape we were because we felt out hearts pumping as we reached the front door (but we blamed it on the altitude)! Thank you so much for leaving the pizza and wine. That was so thoughtful of you. We probably would have eaten the pizza, but we had so much food that we didn't get a chance to. On Saturday, we had our annual family reunion picnic at Pope Beach, and since we were the only family staying another night, we brought home all the leftovers. My nephew had brought a bottle of wine that we drank, and one bottle for the weekend was enough for us. We were all touched by your thoughtfulness in leaving the pizza and wine (and the chocolates on the bed). It was a great idea to put your name on the iphone charger at the desk. We thought someone had left it and picked it up to take home, then realized it belonged to you! Your home was the fifth house we rented and everyone voted that it was the best. Thank you so much for allowing us to rent it. We would love to come back next year. As soon as our reunion date is picked, I will be contacting you. Thank you again from all of us.

Excellent 6-bedroom house in South Lake Tahoe with outstanding value!

Guest: Ro (Santa Fe, NM)
Date of Stay: 07/16/10 Review Submitted: 07/27/10

My family had a wonderful time in this house. I can't say enough good things about it. The listing description was completely accurate. The house looked great. The owners told me that they had painted the house recently and upgraded many features in it. The listing description was accurate. The listing photos didn't do justice to how pleasant, clean, and well-maintained it was inside and out. We loved how warm and comfortable it felt. It had every amenty we needed. I loved its location in a woodsy lot at the end of a dead-end street high up the hill next to Heavenly Ski Area. The owners went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and answer all of our questions. I especially appreciated the reasonable rental rates. We had rented 6-bedroom houses in South Lake Tahoe for the previous four years and this house was undoubtedly the nicest and best value house of all. I highly recommend it to any group who wants a comfortable, reasonably-priced rental house in South Lake Tahoe.

We had a blast, close to everything, yet felt miles away. Our kids loved the forest "back yard", so much to explore. The badminton & horseshoe games were a big plus. We had room for everybody, and nobody had to share a bath. Can't wait to come back, thanks so much for the early check-in and late check out, made for a relaxing departure, even though we did not want to leave the "Tall Tree Lodge"

We stayed at the Tall Tree Lodge with our family this fall. Its only a few miles from everything. We walked to the lake and spent time shopping and hanging out at the casinos. The kitchen is wonderfull and there's tons of space for the whole family and extra kids. There is a nice nature area out back and the kids played hide and seek together while all the adults played pool and enjoyed the BBQ on a sunny day. The cost is minimal and you cant beat the location. We cant wait to book it again! Knox Family
