A little over five years ago, we started a complete renovation of this lakeside home to do better justice to its gorgeous lakeside setting. First we gutted the interior and stripped the house right down to the studs. Then we replaced and rebuilt everything using the newest state-of-the-art materials and systems available.
No expense was spared in its design and construction to make this the most modern and comfortable house in the North Country. You can relax in one of the two living rooms and prepare your meals in one of the two kitchens, either on the main level or on the lake level. There are even two sets of washer/dryers, one for each floor. The result? This may be most luxurious and most meticulously furnished vacation home on Lake Champlain.
The Setting:
"Lost Lodge" sits right on Lake Champlain with breathtaking views of the Vermont mountains. The house itself is set 300 feet back from a quiet dead end street. The property slopes down to the beach, which is remarkably like a pool: the lake bottom here consists of large flat plates of stone that make it easy to just walk right into the lake in summer. In the winter, when the lake is frozen, you can ski right out for the best cross country skiing imaginable.
The Living Rooms:
The vaulted living area on the main level is an open plan, with plenty of room for entertaining. You'll marvel at the 14 foot vaulted ceiling and french doors overlooking the lake. You'll have a 42 inch High Definition Plasma TV with DirecTV for those nights when you just want to relax. There is a thermostatically controlled gas fireplace in the living room; no need to haul firewood! The second living area on the lake level also has its own gas fireplace, a 42 inch flat screen TV and a fully restored Kroeger quarter grand piano.
The Kitchens:
The main level kitchen is the envy of any gourmet chef: The refrigerator/freezer, convection oven, dishwasher and range-top are all stainless steel Kitchen Aid Architect Series. The 33-bottle wine cooler is GE Profile. The stackable Washer/Dryer in the hall is top-of-the-line Frigidaire. The second kitchen on the lake level is a full kitchen with a dining area and all new appliances, including separate Washer/Dryer.
The 4 Master Bedrooms:
Each of the four bedrooms is a master suite, with its own in-suite private bathroom; no one will have to dress to get to their own bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds, one has an oversized double bed and the fourth bedroom has two twin beds. Three of the four bedrooms have flat screen TV's with DVD players.
Our home has a mooring just fifty feet from the shore, and the town boat ramp is just a half-mile north of the house. The City of Plattsburgh is 5 miles up the road and you can drive to downtown Montreal in exactly 1 hour. Whiteface Mountain and Lake Placid are also an hour away. Whether you're here spring, summer, fall or winter, you will be close to everything you might want to do; from swimming to skiing, from kayaking to snowmobiling.
In short, your stay at "Lost Lodge" will be a memorable experience. But don't take our word for it. Just click on "View comments from previous guests" immediately below.

"Lost Lodge @ the Lake": 4 Master BR'S Right on Lake Champlain
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Plattsburgh
Sharon always wanted a home on Lake Champlain. When we purchased this home, we thought we would be spending summers here ourselves, but ironically, our vacation rental business in Key West has grown so much, we have been unable to spend much time up here. We decided to offer the home for vacation rental during the summer. We still make it up here in spring and fall.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The lake is a constantly changing panorama. One day it is like a mirror, the next day there are actually waves breaking on the beach. The sky is so dark at night, we can see the Milky Way, and pick out satellites streaking across the sky. Amazing. And of course, it's always fun to get in the car and hop across the border to have lunch or dinner in Montreal.

We had a geat time enjoying this beautiful home. Our party was 8 to 10 people, there was ample space for everyone. The kitchen was fun to cook in, well supplied with high quality cookware. Early morning sunrise over the lake was spectacular. A truly unique setting.
Owner response:We love to cook, too. So a great kitchen with great cookware has always been important to us. The sun rising over the lake is very special, and star gazing on a moonless night is also something to remember, with the Milky Way spread across the sky like a carpet of light.

The Lost Lodge is a lovely getaway right on Lake Champlain. Chris and Sharon were great to work with and made our stay so enjoyable. I would definitely rent this property again, the house is gorgeous and the rental was stress free. Thanks!

We were so pleased with the rental of your Plattsburgh home. While you had described it well, we were pleasantly surprised to see the quality evident in the structure, the design, the decoration, the bedding, and the equipment. It didn't feel like a rental. It felt like you had loaned us your home. Everything functioned well. We used the TV, Internet, DVD player and all the kitchen equipment - including the recipe books! It was a great place to spend our Christmas holiday. We will definitely keep your rentals in mind our next trip to the Keys.

What a lovely house! We stayed here for two weeks and immediately felt at home. There was NOTHING we needed that the house (really Sharon and Chris) didn't provide. The owners are incredibly gracious and as a result, these two weeks were a great getaway. Even with some bad weather, we could relax, read, watch the lake, or visit Montreal with ease.

Last September my husband and I, along with our dogs, stayed at Sharon's and Chris' beautiful home. It really does have the feel of a welcoming home and not a rental property. Sharon and Chris treated us like family; and they've overlooked no detail with regard to comfort, luxury, beauty, and functionality. We are forever spoiled by our stay there. Thank you! Our Family stayed here over the new year break and we loved it! The house is beautiful and spacious, with plenty of room for the 6 adults and 2 kids. Sharon did an excellent job decorating and made it feel very cozy. There is an excellent selection of books and great views to help make the reading that much more relaxing. We arrived with plenty of "outdoor" plans but felt so comfortable we enjoyed our time together inside and got caught up on family time. Enjoy your stay!

Our family spent Christmas week in this wonderful Adirondack home. It is a treasure. Beautifully decorated with a touch of class. A gem for a group wanting privacy with each bedroom having its own bath. The open floor plan and window wall facing the lake makes it bright and spacious and airy. We enjoyed snow shoeing in the NYS park nearby. This is a gorgeous and very inviting home .. our thanks to Sharon and Chris. We don't want to leave ..

We stayed here with our 2 children ages 12 and 13. The house is beautiful and a great place to relax and enjoy your vacation. It is right on the lake with views of Valcour Island and across to Vermont. Sailboats ply the waters in front of you all the time. We sailed over to Valcour several times to explore around. It has great hiking trails and is very well-maintained. The views from there are also beautiful! The New York side of the lake is VERY quiet so not a place to come for restaurants and nightlife. But for a quiet getaway where you can sail/boat/hike and generally gear down, it was perfect.

We are a very athletic family of Mom, Dad, two adult sons and spouses, our 84 year old grandmother, and Chester, our yellow lab. This was the PERFECT family vacation for us. With the water front only yards from the backdoor, we could start and end our days either in the lake swimming or kayaking, or sitting by the water's edge by the fire we build each night. The large lawn was perfect for lawn games, and there were many great places to enjoy a morning run. The house was even more amazing than the outside. It afforded privacy for all of us, each having our own bedroom and bath. The kitchen/s are fully stocked for the best of chefs. We had a most memorable vacation and will return!
