Chez Manon is a 320 square meter 18th century farmhouse (French “mas”), with heated pool, professionally landscaped grounds, separate laundry and covered parking, that has been restored to reflect its provençal origins, while incorporating the latest of modern comforts.
Chez Manon is just 2 kilometers from downtown Apt, where you can find bakeries, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, even a cinema, yet it is surrounded by farmland. It is situated at the bottom of its own driveway. It is tranquil and relaxing, except for the occasional braying of the donkey up the road or the crowing of the rooster down the hill.
The ground floor consists of a large, open plan living, dining and kitchen area with exposed beams and tile floors, a separate living room for TV and stereo, a library down a few steps, and a toilet with hand basin.
There is an open wood-burning fireplace at one end with comfortable seating and an enclosed fireplace in the TV lounge area. Wood for the fireplaces is included. The house itself is centrally heated in winter by under-the-floor environmentally-friendly geothermal technology, which also provides cooling in the summer to -5° C from ambient. Electric fans are available.
The kitchen area is a cook’s dream with central island, granite surfaces, a double oven “Paul Bocuse” Rosier cooker, a large American Whirlpool double door fridge/freezer, built-in microwave, dishwasher, double butler’s sink, and ample pots, pans and utensils, as well as a range of small appliances, such as food processor, toaster, toaster oven.
The dining area has a table and chairs to easily seat twelve. There are plenty of dishes and cutlery.
There is also a separate “cozy” living room with British satellite TV, French digital TV, DVD and VCR players, stereo and an assortment of music and films.
A few steps down from the main living room is the library with a desktop PC, printer/fax/copier, and WiFi internet access, as well as a bookcase with local guides and maps, and a spare trundle bed.
The five bedrooms are upstairs.
There are three bedrooms with queen-size beds, two of which have en-suite shower rooms with sinks. There is one bedroom with two twin beds and one smaller bedroom with a single bed with trundle, both of which can be made up into one king-size bed. In addition to the two en-suite shower rooms, there is a separate shower with sink and a separate bath/shower with sink. There are two more toilets with hand basins on the upper level, making three in total.
Outside, there is a paved terrace facing the gardens and fountain on the south and a paved terrace on the north with a shady trellis which overlook the Vaucluse mountains. There are outdoor tables and chairs for dining al fresco. In total, there are 6,000 sq metres of land including a “secret” garden with a hammock among the trees, and a cherry orchard.
The 5 by 10 metre heated swimming pool is just on the west side with uninhibited views of the Vaucluse and Mont Ventoux. There is a variety of pool furniture and parasols. The pool is available from approximately May to September.
Below the main house are the laundry and covered parking. The laundry has two washers and one dryer, plus there is an outdoor clothesline. There is covered parking for three cars.
Linens and towels are included, including pool towels.
Mid-week cleaning is included.
Utilities are included, with the exception of the telephone which is metered.
The voltage is 220V. There are hairdryers and radio alarm clocks upstairs.
Baby high chair and cot are available upon request.
6 bicycles with helmets are available to ride round the beautiful countryside.

Our group of 4 grandparents, 2 parents and 3 grandchildren (12, 10, 3) enjoyed a wonderful week at Chez Manon for the following reasons. Since we all enjoy cooking, the open floor plan made it easy for the adults to share in the work and the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils. The large indoor and outdoor tables were great for our group of 9. The 3 grandchildren enjoyed the pool multiple times a day. The privacy of the home meant that the granchildren's voices were not an issue, only to us. The great location in the Luberon Hills meant that there were interesting places to visit for all and we could split up. Some of us went on long hikes while others visited villages those days. Mont Ventoux was accessible and with full sun, simply outstanding. The nearby Roman ruins (perhaps Pont du Gard is not that close but the Julian Bridge is) were great. And, we never even used the bikes that were also available. The views were great for those who those who just wanted to relax. Chez Manon met the needs of all 9 of us from age 3 to 72, not an easy task for a group that takes an annual vacation and come from England and Minnesota, USA.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We had a fantastic holiday at Chez Manon earlier this month. All of our party are keen cooks and we couldn't believe the range of equipment available to us in the kitchen, everything has been thought of from the food processor to the beautiful candles and china. We made some wonderful meals all eaten outside on the beautiful terrace. The house itself is amazing, extremely comfortable and beautifully restored. The swimming pool was in constant use and we particularly loved the four wrought iron "beds" around the pool - not to mention the hammock for two in the garden, a lovely place to relax out of the sun. Above all else the attention to detail was greatly appreciated, from the stacks of games and books to information about just about everything worth seeing in the Luberon. Thank you for a memorable holiday - we had such a great time and can't wait to go back. For once the photos on the website did not do justice to this wonderful property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children.

I want to send this brief message to tell you that we had a near-perfect stay at Chez Manon. Everything lived up to or exceeded our expectations. The villa is beautiful, very well maintained and in a wonderful setting. Arlette was very helpful and cheerfully welcomed us. I was surprised to find that Apt is a wonderful town too. It was a nice walk from the villa with a lovely older section. Its size allowed for all of our needs. And needless to say, the Luberon is a beautiful area...Did you find this review helpful? We have enjoyed 2 very restful weeks of holiday. A fantastic house where every little detail seems to have been considered. Our children were very reluctant to leave its world and venture out! A great break for us all. Many thanks.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
