Perfect for our family ski vacation

My family of 4 recently stayed at Bear Paw for a ski vacation over the long Easter weekend. We travel often and have experience with many VRBO rentals. I would not hesitate to recommend this unit, and would be happy to rent here again. As stated in previous reviews, the location is excellent. The unit is located a few steps from the shuttle stop, and it is a few minute ride to the slopes. It is a few minutes drive to excellent grocery stores, and shops, yet because it is located on Gore (?) Creek, with a lovely back room view, it does not feel like an urban unit. The furnishings are very nice, the kitchen is well-equipped, the beds are comfortable, there are plenty of bathrooms (3), and best of all the price is quite reasonable even during the height of the ski season. The owner is very easy to work with, communicated with me quickly and always with a helpful manner, and it is obvious that she takes great pride in her home. I almost hesitate to give such a glowing recommendation as I would hate for it to get so popular it would be difficult to rent again. :) The only negative that I could see would be that the bedrooms are upstairs, so if you have difficulty with steps you might not want to rent this unit.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: I have many returning guest and give preference of weeks to returning guests. There is a full bathroom on the main floor.

We used this condo for a much needed girls weekend (how cliche). There ended up being 7 of us and we were able to comfortable sleep all of us, we could have even invited more friends if we wanted to! We were slightly concerned with the condo being in West Vail, however, it was SO easy to get to the lifts and to the villages (if you take the cascade lift, its the easiest - no line, no hoards of people, a 3 min bus ride from the condo). The bus stop is literally 30 feet from the front door of the condo. There was a supermarket and liquor store directly across the highway, and a convenience store just down the street. As for the condo itself... we were extremely impressed with everything. The condo was beautiful and located just at the edge of a creek. The condo has a family style dining area, huge living room with comfy couches, many board games, modern kitchen, large mud room with easy to use washer and dryer, and to top it all off... everything is so well labeled! The beds were amazing, everything was so comfortable and spacious. Side note: If you are traveling with children (or adventurous adults), the loft area is adorable. You need to climb a ladder to get up to the loft, but its quite cozy when you get up there. We would definitely recommend this condo. Thank you, Maureen, for all of your help and hospitality!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The beds were so comfy & soft. We loved the creek in the back, hearing the running water. The fireplace made for a nice place to sit & sip a hot beverage. We enjoyed grilling salmon & chicken while there (glad the bears did not show up from the aroma it caused;). The 3 bathrooms were so nice to have, as well as the many places to sleep. My daughters especially loved sleeping in the loft! We stayed for over a week & enjoyed seeing Vail & Glenwood Caverns-just an hour drive away. We went on walks through the neighborhood & some some gorgeous houses. I took many, many pictures. In the autumn, the aspen leaves turn to yellow & some trees were red. It was a great time to visit & we kept church holidays, the Feast of Tabernacles there. We will never forget our time at Vail, CO! :)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Glory and family. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Ptarmigan #36. I also received your nice note. Please come back! Good luck with your move to North Carolina.

Fabulous condo--very peaceful setting on Gore Creek, yet extremely well located to all of the area's recreational and cultural offerings. The owner has planned the entire space to be welcoming and comfortable for guests. Great to see and hear the creek from downstairs, upstairs, and out on the deck. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Location is fantastic with its short walk to the free Vail bus. This means the property is very quiet. Great facilities for cooking in the house and many restaurants are just a bus ride away. The accommodation is spacious and well equipped with TVs, freesat etc. The patio and creek outside is a delight, I nice place to have a beer and maybe grill a steak. All in all our family thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and would definitely recommend this town house. We hope to come again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for staying at Ptarmigan #36 - the welcome mat is always out!

We were extremely pleased with the accomodations. The location was great: very close to Safeway and a couple of great bars/restaurants, and the shuttle bus stop is literally 25 steps out the door! It sleeps a lot of people comfortably, and has 3 bathrooms, which is a real bonus. I loved having the creek right outside the door as well. We enjoyed the fact that paper products and laundry supplies were available. Most vrbo units we have stayed in haven't supplied these. Thanks for a great stay! I stayed at Bear Paw with 6 friends for our 3rd annual ski trip. The accomodations were great- clean, cozy, loved the wood burning fireplace, great view of Gore Creek. The free shuttle is across the street and the ride to the slopes is only a couple minutes. We had a great time and would recommend Bear Paw to friends!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at your townhome. It fulfilled all of our needs. Comfortable, clean, well-stocked. Very convenient to Vail ski lifts. Great shuttle service (tracking bus by the minute online very helpful). Listing and photos accurate. Maureen was very prompt and helpful in answering questions. Next time we ski Vail, we will definitely request the same townhome!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: I've lived in Colorado for over 25 years, I'm orginally from Pittsburgh. After all these years and countless trips to the mountains, I still fall in love with Colorado everyday. My family, husband and 4 daughters - ages 18 through 25, grew up skiing, hiking, and loving the outdoors. We personally enjoy our home in the mountains but also love to share it with others. I go up to our 'get-away' for some rest and relaxation as often as I can.
Why the Owner Chose Ptarmigan Townhomes:
West Vail was the perfect place for us. Close to everything but with the privacy and quiteness of a get-away. Plus, we love the amenities of the bus at our door step and hot tub - after a great day on the mountain. Can't beat the location - right on Gore Creek.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
Gore Creek provides not only a scenic delight but also a listening joy and privelege - visible from every room in the down stairs and master bedroom.
