We could not have been more fortunate in selecting Villa Maria as the facility for our home during our Italy retreat. Where do you begin in describing how great a location and facility Villa Maria offered to our group of twelve. The entire Villa was beautiful, clean, comfortable and accomodating for all of us. When you look at the pictures of Villa Maria, what you can't see are the sounds and views of the sunrise and sunsets over the valley and adjacent mountain range. The Villa is so accomodating for relaxing inside in the living room, outside at the covered patio table or down by the pool. The Villa was always comfortably cool, like being airconditioned, even though it was not airconditioned. The Villa enticed one into complete relaxation. Given our limited time in Italy, we seemed to always be on the go, however, when we arrived back at the Villa we were ready to relax and enjoy the accomodations. We had Donato cook three different evenings and the meals were always excellent. We ate out at several restaurants in the area that were all excellent. I wonder when you are in such a great location, can you really find anything not perfect? Marco and Serena were very accomodating and great to deal with. Marco went out of his way to provide recommendations regarding dining out and suggestions regarding the surrounding area. Many thanks to Marco and Serena for making this great estate available for our vacation. The initial directions to Villa Maria created some challenge in finding Villa Maria, however, once we became acquainted with the area, getting to surrounding towns by car or train was convenient. Driving at night was not so bad because you had the headlights that let one see the oncoming traffic or close roadside walls. Once we were accustomed to the tight driving roads of Italy, driving became more of an adventure.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

We had twelve adults from two families, many on thier first trip to Italy- Villa Maria could not have been more perfect. Serena and Marco were a pleasure to deal with and Morando was so helpful (despite the language barrier)- he even volunteered to pick up two members of our group from the train station and show us around the town. The villa itself is almost exactly as it appears in the pictures just more beautiful in person. It was spotlessly clean, well appointed, and allowed everyone in the group to have some privacy while still enjoying the space together. The pool is fantastic and the views are outstanding. The villa is a little tricky to find initially but that's part of the charm. Florene is an easy train ride or drive away and there are great outlet stores, winerys and countless other activities nearby. Overall I would not hesitate in recommending this villa, it was simply perfect in every way and I hope I'll be able to return someday!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Dear Mary, thank you very much for your rewiew, I really hope to see you again at Villa Maria and remember.... next time a big discount is waiting for you!! All the best from Florence Marco and Serena

We just got back from a week's stay at Villa Maria and it exceeded my expectations in all respects. We were a group of 9 (2 families with a total of 5 teenagers) and the villa provided ample space for us all to relax together without stepping on each other's toes. The villa is exactly as pictured on the site. The pool is beautiful and the outdoor bathroom/shower was perfect. The tennis court was beautifully maintained. The house remained cool even through the hot July days and we were never uncomfortable at night. Morando took wonderful care of us and our first night's dinner by Donato was a highlight. As other reviewers have noted, the villa is so nice that it's hard to leave to see the other wonderful sites of Tuscany. We'll have to come back for another trip to see the rest!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

Villa Maria in Fronzano is even better in reality than it looks on the internet. The views are stunning and the facilities perfect. The villa itself is spacious and elegantly furnished. It comfortably accomodated our 3 families and we particularly liked how much crockery was in the kitchen as it mean't we didn't run out of anything. We also loved being able to engage a fabulous local chef for a couple of meals. Throwing open the bedroom shutters each morning was an absolute treat - what a view! -and we loved being able to walk into the local village to buy whatever goodies we required. The property was immaculately maintained and the caretaker was available to attend to any requests we had. He didn't speak English and we didn't speak Italian but we all had a lot of fun working out how to communicate with each other. Our families loved using the pool and tennis court every day. In fact it was hard to drag ourselves away from the property to discover Florence, Sienna, San Gimignano, Cortona etc. Naturally we loved those places when we got there. We also enjoyed a trip up into the hills behind the villa. We very much hope to return to the villa one day and would certainly recommend it to others - in fact we've been doing that regularly since our return home. You will not be disappointed if you choose to have a magical holiday at Villa Maria in Fronzano.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a group of 8 for our stay at Villa Maria in June, and every one of us would be thrilled to return. The views from the villa, overlooking the hills and small town are breath-taking. It was difficult for us to leave the property to take side trips during the days! Marco was very helpful with suggestions and answering any questions in the months and weeks leading up to the visit, and the grounds-keeper, Morando, was efficient and friendly - providing any necessities during the days. I highly recommend this villa for an exceptional Italian experience.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My stay at Villa Maria was certainly the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation that I've ever had. I cannot say enough about how lovely this place is. The view is unparalleled, the owners and managers were extremely accommodating, and the villa itself was endlessly charming. I hope my travels bring me back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We have just arrived back in U.S. after two weeks in Italy. Villa Maria is a very special place and the photos on the website do not do it justice. It is even more beautiful. When we arrived it was spotless and Marco was very helpful with suggestions of places to go and to eat. It was so wonderful there that it was hard to leave to go on day trips! My father-in-law fell in the pool and injured his leg. Valerio was very helpful in trying to help us get in contact with a doctor there and also to get him crutches. Fortunately, he got better and did not need them. Also, Donato was so great. The food he prepared for us was so delicious and he is a lovely person. It was great to have him cook on the first night when we arrived. The town of Fronzano is also lovely and the people who run the market were so friendly. The tennis court was a huge plus for our family. We played a lot of tennis and the kids played soccer frequently. Thank you again for the use of your beautiful villa. I will tell my friends about it and I hope we can return to visit some day. I will never forget the beautiful sunsets and breeze.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Villa Maria, as fantastic as it looks, is actually under-represented on these sites. We (six couples) shared the Villa for two weeks Sept.23-Oct.06 and could not have been more delighted with the place. The views are fantastic and the surrounding villages and towns are charming. The local people were outgoing and friendly. You need a car and someone to help you find it for the first time...then you are poised for some exploration of a really beautiful region of Italy. Marco and his caretaker keep the place very manicured and very inviting. The in-house chef was great, the local resturants were reasonable and offered good food, and we did a couple of fine meals on our own with great produce and meats purchased in local shops. Bring some good walking shoes for exercise with a view!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Family and friends gathered at Villa Maria in June 2006 for a wonderful week at Villa Maria and it was wonderful! Thirteen of us shared this lovely home perched above Reggello, in the Florentine hills. My fiance' actually proposed to me on the terrace at sunset! We will always have special memories of Villa Maria and we look forward to returning again! Marco Martelli, is a fine host and will ensure you have a lovely repose at the Villa.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
