Casa Quetzal - Sayulita
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
casa quetzal is a Mediterranean, a somewhat nostalgic, romantic and charming house with three arches on three levels.
The roof one big terraza, with hammocks, chaise, big table & chairs and a BBQ.
Makes for wonderful star watching and great whale watching in January! The views are truly amazing.
Ideal for early morning Yoga.
On the next level down is the main floor, kitchen, dining room and living room, all in one generous open space, with doors that open up all the way on three sides. Views of the pueblo, the wilderness with it's amazing display of birds, San Pancho, (even the three 'Islas Marias' on a clear day) and 180* view of the ocean of course. The kitchen is simple, granite counter-tops, breakfast bar, fridge and stove, fully equipped. There is also a small bath room, (a toilet and a sink) on this floor.
Three bed-rooms are downstairs each with breath-taking views of the ocean from bed, and the sound of the waves. in addition of the ocean view the master bed room (with a king-sized bed) has a view of the hill and it's wild jungle, it's own bath and private terrace.
The two other bed-rooms (one with king-sized bed, the other two twin beds) share a shower and a toilet, but each have their own sink and closet area.
For an additional fee we sometimes also rent the fourth bedroom is a small one with a twin sized bed, is on the first floor, with it's own bathroom. It faces a patio and although on the lowest level still offers equally stunning views. It is surrounded by the gardens, flowers and fruit trees bearing papayas, bananas, grapefruit, limes, oranges and grenade apples, and several small patios sprinkled about for extra private corners.
The salt water pool, no chemicals! is 4x7 meters - with it's patio and pool shower.
A maid comes 3 days a week and a caretaker is in charge of the pool and garden.
There is no telephone line yet and there probably wont be for another year, but we left a cell phone there for your local calls. You can buy minutes at several stores for as little as 50.00 pesos. There Internet Access comes from a telcel 'stick' that you plug into your lap top (USB). Best reception is sitting on the dining room table.
There are also many internet places in town.
There is a large BB Que available to you in the garden and a smaller version of a BB Que for a quick fish upstairs on the kitchen terraza.

Our trip was absolutely lovely. We all were blown away by the house and the view and the pool and and and.... We had no trouble communicating with Federico or Soyri, but we also had a native speaker with us. I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem though even if we hadn't. Soyri's sister came and cooked for us one night and it was fantastic! It was one of the best trips we've ever taken and it had in large part to do with Casa Quetzal! We are all already talking about our return trip for the same time next year. I'll probably be checking back with you soon! Thank you for sharing your Shangri-la with us!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Casa Quetzal was absolutely a splendid place to spend a few days, and we would absolutely go back. From the fantastic views of the ocean and Sayulita below to the beautiful pool, full kitchen and secluded - yet well-connected - location, you really can't go wrong. Federico and Soyri were super helpful in providing information about the house, the "neighborhood" and a few things to do, and Patrice was super communicative throughout the whole process. We had rented a 4WD vehicle for our trip, and would absolutely recommend having one if you plan to drive to-and-from the house, as many smaller rentals won't have the easiest time heading up the hill, but it's also a leisurely stroll down the hill to the ocean if you're on foot. Great Airbnb location.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our stay at casa quetzal was one from a fairytale. Between the view of the world, the many different sections of the house, the amazing caretaker team, and the infinite sunshine this is the place to be. Ask anyone in Sayulita and they all know the name and reputation of Casa Quetzal. We had one minor issue come up during our stay there (an act of god and not anyones fault) and Patrice and her team came to help fix the issue within 5 minutes. If you lay down on the couch in the living room and look out you can't see the shore or the beach or the ground. All you see if water upon water in all directions for as far as you can see. Just read the multiple guest books. People have been loving this house for years.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great time and the house was beautiful. Alfredo and Elena were wonderful, language was not an issue at all, in fact we were able to learn a little Spanish from them. Elena's cooking was incredible. Your instructions were fine, but one of the roads were blocked due to road repair near Pollo Grande but we got help from some people in town. You were correct about staying on the hill it was perfect to go down to the beach and town but return to casa quetzal and enjoy the view and pool away from the noise. We were all very sad to leave and would love to rent your home again in the future. If any friends plan to travel to Mexico we will recommend your home. Thanks, TerryDid you find this review helpful? We had a wonderful time in Sayulita and at Casa Quetzal. It will definitely be our top choice of a place to stay for our next trip. Our trip was amazing. The view from the house is incredible and unmatched from what we could tell. My parents rented a house nearby and our view was so much more stunning. My sister rented a house near the beach and had no view at all. We enjoyed the breeze around the house and the salt water pool was a great treat. Sra. Elene cooked a fabulous meal for us on Wednesday night. Amazing. We all enjoyed it. We had no difficulty with Alfredo and Elena. They were very nice and worked well around us. Although there was a bit of a language deficit, we got through it okay. Thanks again for opening up your house to us. We had a great time. Everything was lovely at casa quetzal. Set up so nicely for privacy, the views are amazing! The house was equipped so nicely, appreciated the drinking water, cell phone, sewing kit came in handy...it was hard to leave! Some days, if it hadn't been for needing to eat, I wouldn't have at all... Alfredo and Elena are such an elegant and beautiful couple, loved them! Heads up on the steep factor, it does allow for the beautiful views. It was not an issue for us at all. We really loved our stay, I will come again and thank you for letting us be guests at casa quetzal.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a very nice stay at Casa Quetzal last week. Sayulita was great as always, and it was nice to be able to retreat back up the hill in the evenings. The cool breeze and amazing views set the tone for the evening. The sound of crashing waves put us to sleep every night. It was great to be able to jump in to pool for a dip after the hike up the hill. The house had everything we needed to be self-sufficient. Thanks again!Did you find this review helpful? About the owner: My family and I enjoy this serene space. One really feels totally away from everything and yet our sons are just minutes away from surfing, discos and parties, the while we, the parents enjoy seeing the lights of the pueblo, the fireworks and hear the faint rhythm of the music, but are glad to be in our hamacs gazing up at the stars.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We come to our casa quetzal to truly relax. We love to wake up to the bird songs and sleep to the sound of waves and the crickets. We also love the hot rainy season here, listening to the tropical rains and enjoying the comfort of our house.
My personal pride is the garden and the fruit it produces, especially I love our sweet papayas and the passion fruit! But the limes are delicious, so are the bananas and the other citrus fruit.
