Location: Glenwood Springs, Northwest, Colorado, USA (Only 40 min to Aspen or 55 min to Vail. 30 min to Vail Airpt)
Accommodations: Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5+ Baths (Sleeps 2-6)
Keywords: Loft, perfect location, hot springs pool, skiing, rafting, fishing, mountain biking
Stay in downtown just steps from Glenwood's best restaurants, nearly every activity is within easy walking distance. Built in the late 1800's our loft is located in what was once a hotel. It is now upstairs above The Watersweeper and The Dwarf gift shop. It has been completely renovated, but with some of the old things still in tact. Look at the doors; they are the original ones from the 1890's with the room numbers still on them. Doc Holiday is rumored to have stayed here.
Going up the stairs you will find yourself on a great, large deck with a stone top table, firepit and BBQ grill. Go thru the door into the enclosed sun porch and sitting area. Enter the main door and you are in the old hotel hallway. On the left is the western bedroom with a queen bed. On the right is the master bedroom with a king bed occupying what was once two hotel rooms. Next is the bath and laundry. There is a Jacuzzi tub and vanity in one room and a shower and vanity in another. In the front you will find a complete kitchen with everything you could need and the dining room-living room area to complete a wonderful loft with a great blend of old and new.

The Loft has it all!

The Loft was a perfect choice for our visit to Glenwood Springs. The location could not have been better as we were within walking distance of a convention we were attending, the Hot Springs, downtown, the Colorado River, cute little shops, and restaurants. We had also brought our bicycles and were delighted with the trails along the river. The Loft is elegantly comfortable with its two bedrooms, stylish baths, fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room fronting Grand Avenue. You also have the novelty of staying in an old, historic hotel with all the comforts of home! Cal & Pat, we truly appreciate your sharing the Loft with us and hope to return in the future! My boyfriend and I rented this loft with three of my other friends for a fun reunion weekend. It was such a darling place, we were sad to leave after only two days. It was incredibly clean and very spacious. The town is cute and low-key. We had some fabulous meals out and great breakfasts in our lovely kitchen. We highly recommend the Italian restaurant on the same block. It was so cozy and the food was delicious! We were in love with our gem and are definitely planning to return!

This place is a gem! It's quaint, cozy and comfortable with a great veiw of the mountains and close to the Springs (which we walked to almost every day for saunas, massages, soaking, and just plain pampering!). We especially loved the fire pit on the patio which we enjoyed every night with a bottle of Wine. This was a perfect place for us "traveling grandma's" to get together as we had the feel of a family home, had a place to make our own meals, yet were walking distance to all of the cute shops and good places to eat. The 14 mile bike ride down Glenwood Canyon (mostly downhill if you take the shuttle up) was so fun and we literally walked to get our bikes - and then rode on into town to return them. A perfect place to stay!

We had a very nice stay at this house, it's very quiet despite its close proximity to Grand Ave. Two of the town's best restaurants are literally a block away or less. There is only one toilet even if there is a separate shower, so that made for some interesting morning/evening preparations. The patio is great with its little fire pit, the place is generally well equipped and very sanitary. We were there during the hottest part of the summer and the swamp-cooler functioned perfectly for everyone at night. The TVs all have DVD players and there is a small library of movies to watch if needed, the 3 TVs are all hooked into the same satellite network, so they all must be on the same channel at the same time, but if you're in Glenwood you're probably not too attached to the TV. Best of all, you need only walk over the bridge to go to the Hot Springs Pool, and that is by far the best convenience in Glenwood.
Owner response:We appreciate the review, however, we are sorry the renters did not realize that each TV has its own satelite remote and because of that any channel that we have subscribed to can be watched on any of the three televisions at any time.

Staying at the Loft felt like staying in someone's home... very clean and comfortable, with those simple details that help make a vacation go more smoothly (like detergent for the washing machine, movies for the DVD player, etc). Our toddler LOVED watching the action/ traffic rolling by on Grand Avenue from the front windows, and we loved that we couldn't hear it from the bedrooms. We were traveling with 4 adults and one little guy, and had plenty of space to hang out and play in the open layout kitchen/ dining/ living room. The bedrooms accommodated our pack-n-play plus luggage sprawl with ease. Like other reviewers, we left our car parked for the majority of our visit and walked most everywhere - to the Hot Springs Pool, bike shop, and the many close restaurants for meals - very convenient!! We would definitely stay at the Loft again, and have already recommended it to friends.

I highly reccomend staying at the loft. It is a beautiful place and there is so much to do here. It is within walking distance for so many things, the hot springs, shopping, dinning out, museum and the scenery is awesome!!! The gift shop downstairs is also one of a kind, all kinds of little things to buy. the Saintignons and the Fowbles from Ohio

One is never quite sure how a hotel/house/condo will really present itself in reality just by viewing a photo or two from a website. But, I can say that we were extremely happy with our choice to rent the Loft. It is a wonderful space and the location is simply unbeatable for enjoying the local flavor of Glenwood Springs. We parked our car and it stayed parked for our entire stay. Everything we wanted to do was within blocks of the Loft. It has the warmth of the exposed brick and all the modern conveniences that made our stay very special. This will be our first call next time we plan a stay in Glenwood Springs.

We had a wonderful week this summer in Glenwood Springs staying at The Loft. The location of The Loft was perfect for walking to all of the local attractions. The interior of The Loft was so comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. We loved the history of the place with it's brick walls and original hotel doors with the numbers still on them. It is obvious that a lot of thought and care was put into the renovation of this unique spacious loft. We were so happy to meet Cal and Pat so that we could tell them how much we loved their loft. They were very friendly and helpful. We also loved their Watersweeper gift shop. We really hope we can go back again and we highly recommend this vacation rental.

We had a great time staying in this loft apartment and its great central location meant that you could walk to all the shops, restaurants and local attractions. There was plenty of space for the kids and it's fully equipped with all the amenities you could wish for from wi-fi to waffle makers. The interior decor is charming and as comfortable as home. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended - we would be very happy to come back.

We just returned from a wonderful weekend in Glenwood Springs where we stayed in The Loft above the Watersweeper gift shop. The Loft is beatifully furnished, extremely comfortable, and very tidy. We particularly enjoyed the air conditioning, comfy king-sized bed, spacious bathrooms, deck with firepit and gas grill, well-equipped kitchen, high speed wi-fi internet, abundant TVs and DVD collection, and the great location. Amazingly, even though you are right downtown (it is great fun to watch people from the living room windows), the bedrooms in the Loft are very quiet. The hosts, Cal and Pat, are very accommodating but not intrusive. We always enjoy staying in unique accomodations and quit coming to Glenwood Springs several years ago after our favorite bed and breakfast closed down and we were unable to find other lodging that was affordable for our family but that had some personality. I think we have found our new home-away-from-home in Glenwood now and we look forward to going back again and again. Pam in Denver, August 2007
