Paradou, an old Provencal word for a mill, is an 18th century sprawling house converted from a water mill. It is surrounded by vines, olive groves and oak trees and has a stream running through the property. The house lies one km, just over half a mile, from the village of Mormoiron which has a bakery and a small grocery store. The town of Carpentras has a full range of shops and is 10km away. It is located a 40 minute drive from the Chateau where the recently released movie "A Good Year" was filmed.
It is part of the Chateau Pesquie estate, and guests are encouraged to visit the chateau to sample the wine, which is served in some of the finest restaurants worldwide.
There is a large garden with plenty of shade under the oak trees and for sun worshippers, the 12m x 6m pool enjoys the sun all day long. There are two pool alarms that comply with the French safety laws. There is an outdoor kitchen next to the pool with a gas BBQ, refrigerator and outdoor dining facilities.
The house is on two levels beautifully furnished in a Provencal style with interesting art and antiques. There are four bedrooms and four en suite bathrooms and a separate WC on the ground floor. Three bedrooms have large queen-size beds (160 cm) and the fourth bedroom has two large twin beds. There are two well equipped kitchens, with full-size American style refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, washing machine. There is a TV, DVD player, radio/CD player and high speed internet access. In the winter months on cooler nights, there is a fireplace and central heating. |
