Location: Sundance, Utah, USA (4 mins from Sundance Ski Resort, 10 minutes from Provo)

Accommodations:  Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)

Keywords:  Cabin/House

This cozy little cabin is really more of a small house located at Vivian Park up the Provo Canyon. The backyard borders on the South Fork of the Provo River, which merges with the Provo River about 200 yards downstream. Bike trails begin and end here. High quality road bikes and mountain bikes can be rented from owners for $15/day or $95/week.

In the summer fishing, tubing, and river rafting are available on the large Provo River and there is also a large children's fishing pond in the Park area, both only a half block away. Also only a half block away are picnic areas and playgrounds, and during the summer months the "Heber Creeper" train makes a stop one block away for a scenic trip up the canyon. The train often is disguised as Thomas the Tank. Or you can take the hiking, biking trail a half block away that takes you along the river, past Bridal Veil Falls, and all the way to Provo Lake. Horseback riding is available further up the canyon. Summer ski lift rides at both Sundance and Park City are popular attractions as well. Both places have 'live' outdoor summer theatre. Park City has summer concerts (classical & pop) and an Art Festival. The trailhead for the Provo River Parkway is two blocks away, making the area quickly accessible to both resorts and cities.

During the winter, some of the best skiing in the world is at the Sundance ski resort, only about 5 minutes away, or at Park City about 30 minutes away. In addition, the fabulous slopes of the Snowbird and Alta Ski Resorts are less than an hour away. A popular attraction is daytime or evening tubing at Soldier's Hollow, which may be reached by car or train. The slopes are so huge that you are pulled in your tube to the top by a pulley. Snowboarding and sledding hills abound.

In addition to the above summer and winter activities, year round Sundance has a unique country store and two fabulous restaurants, and Park City has all kinds of restaurants and shops, for those who like shopping.

We provide paper towels, toilet paper, tissue, bath soap, shampoo & conditioner samples, dishwasher detergent, and laundry products. DVD's & board games are available on request, and an XBOX game system & games which attach to the TV are available for rent.

The non-smoking cabin is small but has been completely renovated within the past year. Flooring, furniture, etc. are all new. A lot of money and time have been spent on fixing and upgrading everything. It's rare to find broadband Internet in this area, but this cabin has it, along with a 2 HD flat screen TV's, one a brand new 37" Vizio 120 Hz, 1080i. The TV's are located in the living-room and bedroom. A powerful Windows 7 desktop computer and laser monochrome printer are provided.

The unique thing about this property is location. Vivian Park was established in the late 1800's and currently has about 30 residences. The view of the River out the back sliding glass doors is remarkable as is the view from the front. The views of the back of Mt. Timpanogos are fabulous. There is a lot of wildlife in the back including wild turkeys on Thanksgiving Day. Truly a mountain retreat, yet only a few minutes from Sundance, BYU, or Downtown Provo, and less than an hour from three other Utah ski resorts. Also, the Salt Lake City airport is only 51 miles away.

Here is a recent testimonial: "You have a wonderful cabin that is very nicely furnished. My wife and I enjoyed the fact that it's so close to shopping and dining in Provo and very close to Sundance. We went for a walk one afternoon and found ourselves listening to elk bugle all around us. Needless to say, we hope to be able to come back in the future." - S. Williams

Beautiful Cabin!!

Date of Stay: 12/19/11 Review Submitted: 12/26/11

Dear Angus and Irene: This week in your beautiful cabin has been so wonderful! We've always wanted a 'white Christmas' and felt so very fortunate to have found this special home at this special time of year. We've taken countless photos of the yard, stream, mountains, and surroundings. My wish is that we could stay longer, and hope to return again. Thank you for you kindness and hospitality. From our first moments here we've felt welcome. Thank you too, for providing two darling Christmas trees! While here, our son, Blake, received his call to serve in the Uganda Kampala Mission...we'll always remember our time here and the happiness shared. Love, Phil, Chris, and 5 children. Dear Irene and Angus, We had a wonderful time at your cabins. We loved the sounds of the river and walking and biking on the paths. The view is lovely and the atmosphere restful. The cabins were immaculate and thoughtfully arranged and furnished- beautiful and comfortable! We were here for our son's wedding and enjoyed this so much more than a hotel stay! Van & Ruth

A Wonderful Vacation!!

Irene and Angus - Thanks so much for renting your cabin to us for our vacation. It was so convenient to the many activities we had going on in the Provo/Orem area, but at the same time a beautiful and peaceful getaway. We loved the river flowing through the backyard, the access to bike rentals and to the Provo Canyon biking/walking trail. The accomodations in the cabin were exceptional. Thanks again for providing such a beautiful place for some great recreation, rest and relaxation.

Owner response:We love sharing our get-away on the river with such wonderful renters. It is truly rewarding and fun.

We had so much fun. Cabin was nice and cozy for our family. Luckily before the heavy snow we were able to go in the back yard and play and were also able to check out the river. So beautiful. Since we don't live there in Utah, we enjoyed the snow storm. Where else could we have seen so much snow? I wish we could have gone skiing. But no regrets. We enjoyed our vacation and our stay. If we come to Utah for skiing we will definitely stay there. Patel

We had a great time. We loved the sound of water flowing in the river. Boys enjoyed playing in the snow and making snowmen by the river. It was so nice of you to come by & give us candles when the poser outage occurred due to snow storm. You have a beautiful cabin. The view is beautiful. Thank you, Deep & family from Fresno, CA

Such a beautiful, thoughtfully-appointed vacation retreat in a wonderful area! Angus and Irene were always available when we needed them but not at all intrusive. We loved the hiking, biking and lazing around the cottage- and our family reunion barbecue around the fire circle. Thanks for everything. We hope to return. Mike and Merrilea, Silver springs, MD

Your cabin was perfect for what we wanted to do and didn't want to do. A great location for us. We spent part of 3 days on the Alpine Loop. What a gorgeous drive!! We hiked, picnicked and explored the Timpanogos Cave (that's a tough hike up!) Jeff was able to fly fish every day while I enjoyed reading my book and listening to the birds out back. Very relaxing and quite a reprieve from the Texas heat. We enjoyed both the Foundry Grill and Mama Chu's. Thanks for recommendations. We love Vivian Park and this area. I have really enjoyed staying in this sweet place. I very much enjoyed my time here. It's very homey, a home away from home. Irene and Angus were there for any TV technical issues which I, the non-technical person, had. I will definitely be back-hopefully to enjoy another season. Paulette, San Francisco

Such a snug cabin! The descriptions that led us to choose this place were very apt, and the owners very gracious and helpful. We love the view out the sliding doors.
