Lovely time at a lovely place - house is indescribable - done SO well, nice and accomodating yet casual & comfortable - will definitely be looking for more times in the future to spend @ Rockhedge! Again, can't say enough about the hosts, house, surroundings - felt like we were a long peaceful way from others, yet right close to both RMN Park and the town of Estes Park. FUN to see the before/after photo album of the house, also. We inquired if there was a Scrabble game, and Durango went right out and purchased one before she headed home. It rained and snowed a great deal of the time we were there - but we were happy campers with such a lovely place to stay and visit - by the fireplace! Even a fox stopped by to tell us goodbye the morning we left! Great place - anytime - I've already shared info with a number of folks I know, whether it be for 3 sets of couples, family gatherings, etc -

Rockhedge is the perfect quintessential Estes Park experience! We spent four days with grandkids, four days alone and the home was just the right size for both experiences. The wonderful intimate fireplace room provides a cozy place for sitting with a glass of wine, reading, talking --- just being. Awesome round table in the well appointed kitchen that is equally great for meals and games. Nice privacy around the property, big patio, and lots of rock areas for kids to play. We could have easily stayed a month.

We have stayed at many vacation rentals in Estes and around the country and Rockhedge takes the prize. The home is beautifully remodeled and it has the most well-appointed kitchen one could dream of. We were lucky enough to be there for the first snow of the season and so enjoyed staying in by the cozy fire. There was absolutely nothing we needed or wished we had brought while there. If ever you want to treat yourself to a very special get-a-way this is the perfect retreat, especially if you enjoy cooking!

We had a wonderful time exploring the area. Rockhedge was a perfect place to do this and a wonderful home to stay in. Everything we needed was there. We sat outside in the afternoon an thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet. Durango gave us great recommendations for dinner at the Twin Owls and a great concert. Molly B's is a great breakfast place. We had an excellent tour through Rocky Mountain National Park from Estes Park to Grand Lake with the Green Jeep Tours, ask for Art.

We enjoyed celebrating our 50th anniversary with our family at Rockhedge. It is a lovely home, very private yet so well situated in regard to Estes Park and RMN park activities. The area around the house begs for picnics and rock climbing enjoyment outside. This is an immaculate property, well taken care of and very comfortable and inviting. We recommend it to those looking for an alternative to condo vacationing.

Rockhedge was the perfect spot for our family vacation. Though we spent considerable time driving and hiking through Rocky Mountain National Park, we were so comfortable in the lovely home that we spent a lot of time just enjoying the space and amenities of the home. We all love to cook and the kitchen was even nicer than we had imagined from the description on the home's web page. The kitchen is FULLY stocked with high end appliances, nice pots, pans, baking dishes and plenty of dishes and serving ware. The pantry and fridge also had a very generous stock of basic supplies. We grocery shopped at Whole Foods in Boulder on our way from Denver, but one may want to see what items are available in the kitchen first. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all very comfortable and attractive and the home is very clean and well maintained. Durango was very accommodating and helpful upon our arrival. Staying at Rockhedge really added to the quality of our vacation. I would not hesitate at all to recommend it to family or friends, and hope to stay there again sometime ourselves.

The pictures don't do this home justice! You must see it to believe it. We've stayed in many rentals around the Estes area, normally they are good and pretty much as the photos portray. This home was the exception, it is actually much better than the photos portray. The property was imaculate and very very clean. We stayed for a week and hated to leave. The home is situated in a secluded neighborhood and although it's within walking distance of town you'd never know it. There is no traffic noise and even though it's in a neighborhood, it's situated such that you can't see the neighbors. The kitchen was better equiped than our kitchen at home. If you wanted to throw a lavish dinner party, you'd have all you need an then some. The final piece of the puzzle was our wonderful hosts, Durango and Mark. Durango met us when we arrived and was there to wish us a fond farewell. She showed us where everything was and how everthing worked. She did such a good job that we had no unanswered questions or concerns. Mark was busy chopping firewood for us when we arrived. After seeing how meticulously the house was maintained, it kind of fit. He wanted to make sure we had everything we could possibly need. I'd recommend this house to anyone and everyone. I've got only good things to say about the house and our hosts. Hope we have a chance to experience the cozy warmth of Rockhedge again.

My family and I visited for one week in June, 2011. We found Rockhedge to be just as portrayed in the website photos. We have rented a number of homes over the years and you usually need to stock up on all types of necessities other than food. Not so with Rockhedge. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped. You would have to try hard to find a cooking utensil not furnished. The home is very convenient to Rocky Mountain National Park, within a short driving distance from two different entrances. The home was very clean and comfortable, with many shelves of books, dvds and vhs tapes to entertain oneself. Outside the home we saw rabbits, many birds, elk, and even a large, inquisitive bear. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there and wished we could have stayed much longer. The owners and their cleaning person, Toon, were a pleasure to work with. If you stay at Rockhedge you will not be disappointed.

First off let me thank you for making your beautiful home available to our family and others. We had an amazing time in Estes Park, Rocky Mountain NP and your house. One big reason for us going to Estes Park is to enjoy the wildlife that makes itself home in your beautiful community. We saw plenty of Elk, Deer, rabbits, and even a Raccoon while in town. Not to be outdone we saw some Bighorn Sheep on the way out of town. Simply amazing! Your location to everything is perfect. We were able to walk to town each morning to get the news paper and bagels for those who decided to sleep in. My wife and I walked into Estes Park for dinner on Sunday night. Even the drives to Lily Lake and Rocky Mountain NP were nice a quick. On our trip to the Park we were able to hike some trails while the snow just dropped and dropped. What a mini vacation it was. Thank you so much for allowing us to experience Estes Park from your truly amazing home.

My wife and I have rented four different houses in Estes Park within the last year and this was by far the best. The location is central to town and close to Rocky Mtn. National Park. The house was immaculately clean and had a fully stocked kitchen, including condiments, herbs and spices and all the utensils you would need for serious cooking. We loved the gas range. The architecture of the house is stunning! The style reminds us of a 1920s bungalow, complete with classically tiled bathrooms, a deep bathtub and a master bath with many windows. The great room is large and open, with a high wood ceiling and large windows. The arts and crafts decor compliments the wood framed windows and wood floors. Most of the windows are screened and can be opened to let in the cool mountain air. The lighting fixtures truly add to the atmosphere and most can be dimmed to your liking. There is a gas grill, a charcoal grill and a smoker outside on the patio and the patio has beautiful views of the rock formations nearby. This is truly a beautiful home and a wonderfully relaxing place. We did not want to leave. The owners made sure this place was very well equipped and very clean. We felt more like we were borrowing a best friend's house rather than renting. Rockhedge is incredibly cozy and inviting and we would recommend this over any of the more expensive houses we've rented in Estes Park.

Our family stayed at Rockhedge in early to mid-July, 2010 and had a wonderful time. We've been to Estes Park several times over the years, but this was our first time at Rockhedge. We've stayed at many places found on VRBO all over and none has been equipped as good as this one. The owner met us at the property to go over everything. The home is meticulous cared for and beautifully furnished. We used the Big Green Egg for chicken one night. One late afternoon we arrived to find a deer sitting up next to the house waiting to greet us. The home was perfect for the prep and recovery of our "men" to climb Longs Peak. We would highly recommend Rockhedge and we hope we can stay again one day.

Take it from a Colorado resident, Estes Park is one of the best non-ski town destinations in the State and Rockhedge is “THE” place to stay when in Estes. The home has been meticulously renovated and updated to provide 21st century amenities (Wi-Fi, reliable heat, super comfy beds, chef kitchen, mood lighting, stereo, books, movie library, upscale bedding…) while maintaining its early 1900’s charm. There is nothing cheesy, cheap or pretentious here. Rockhedge is well situated in a quiet neighborhood. You will feel isolated while at Rockhedge, but you are actually only minutes from The Stanley Hotel, quaint downtown shops, Rocky Mountain Nat. Park, Safeway, restaurants, and movie theatre. Mark recommended several restaurants. Of those suggested we chose Mary’s Lake Lodge for a nice dinner, Village Pizza, and twice went to The Elk Horn for breakfast. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory next door to the McDonald’s is a must. The Bean Blossom was our favorite store for clothes shopping. Mark and Durango communicated well prior to check in and had we needed anything I have no doubt they would have been there for us. I unknowingly left parts to a camera at the house and Mark contacted me the day after check out to arrange getting the items back to me. Damage deposit was returned quickly. What we did not like? Leaving. Mark and Durango, Thank you for sharing your lovely Estes Park home with us.
Owner response:We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at 'Rockhedge", our Rocky Mountain Get-away in Estes Park. We are grateful that you took the time to write such a wonderful review on our property and we hope you make "Rockhedge" your Home Away from Home too. Sincerely, Your Hosts, Durango & Mark

It feels like home away from home; with a gorgeous fireplace, cd collection, movie collection and so on! Durango and Mark have put a great deal of love and care into their restored mountain home and I would not hesitate recommending this beautiful and cozy house to anyone! Our family stayed from 9/17-9/20. We had a wonderful time! The house was beautiful and very inviting. Our 2 year old daughter especially loved climbing the large boulders to the side of the house. The location couldn't have been better! It is only about 4 miles to the entrance of the Rocky Mountain forest and you can even walk to downtown. We couldn't have asked for a better home to stay in while we were there!

Our family had the pleasure of spending four wonderful nights in this beautiful home. The kitchen is amazing, the location ideal, and the music selection was an added treat. My wife and I still talk about the lighting options throughout the house – I guess you can say we have lighting envy. You have done such a great job with Rockhegde – the before and after photos are remarkable. Again, the location is great - you are just a few miles from everything – downtown, restaurants, and RMNP. I can not recommend this house enough, you will not be disappointed.

Our family stayed here 7/7/09 - 7/12/09 and had a wonderful time! We all can't say enough about how nice Rockhedge was in appearance, location, ammenities, and how homey it felt! The property sits on such a beautiful piece of land, and you're only a couple of miles away from some very scenic day hike / trail heads. Downtown and Estes Park entrances were so close and easily accessable. The wifi worked beautifully, we loved listening to your music collection, while making home cooked meals, and visiting by the fire. The two outdoor patios were also so nice to spend time on. We were lucky enough to be woken by a bear one morning! We're blown away by the photo album of the before and after pictures of Rockhedge. An amazing place, where we created fond memories, and can't wait to return! -Thank you!

We stayed at Rockhedge for five days in early July. The "home" was well appointed and the kitchen was amazing. Downtown Estes Park is a short walk or drive. The wildlife was everywhere and even the bear made an guest appearance. The home easily handled six adults and two babies. The main room was large and airy as was the kitchen and dining area. We especially liked the two outdoor patios and spent a great deal of time there. Of course, the master bedroom/bath was large and lovely. We highly recommend the home to anyone for any season.

We stayed at Rockhedge June 6th - 13th and it was lovely to be greeted by Durango & Mark on our first day to show us round their lovely house. We have never stayed anywhere that has had such a well stocked kitchen with everything you would need for cooking, it was like home from home and such a great house to stay in. We had a lovely week with our son's wedding on the 10th and catching up with our daughter who now lives in Georgia. Several Elk visited us on our second day and we also saw foxes and squirrel's (no bears though). The neighbourhood is very quiet and it is an easy walk to downtown Estes Park. We would highly recommend staying at Rockhedge.

My husband and I chose Estes Park for our destination wedding and the Rockhedge became the heart of the entire weekend. From the moment we entered Rockhedge, we were in awe at the beautifully restored details of the home and the perfect and fully stocked kitchen. There was no better way to ease the pre-wedding jitters than to sit by the amazingly quick log burning fire place. With the permission of the home's owners, we had gathered 23 of our closest friends and family at the Rockhedge to enjoy our wedding cake and watch us dance by the fire as husband and wife. What a breathtaking experience! The lighting from dimmer switches created a romantic environment and the comfortable couches and relaxing seating made a perfect setting for conversation between our families. There was plenty of room for the 6 of us who were fortunate enough to stay at Rockhedge that weekend. We could not have chose a better location than the Rockhedge in Estes Park to host our family and friends. We hope to celebrate all our wedding anniversaries there. On a professional note, the owners of Rockhege were great to work with. They were prompt with their email responses and were more than willing to give us suggestions to make the weekend of our wedding unforgettable. The love and pride they have in their home is evident. The Rockhedge is not a just a place with a warm bed and a hot shower, but its a HOME where you can visit for a couple of days or weeks and truly make new and lasting memories. We could not thank you enough!

This is a fantastic mountain home, yet close to everything. From the time we first entered the home we could tell that great care was taken with this house. We stayed there in February for our first winter vacation, and were very much impressed. From the surrounding views, wildlife, comfort, right down to the gourmet kitchen facility everything was top notch. We had a family of eight deer visit us during dinner one evening, and a large bull elk just down the street the next day. We love the area and will return the next chance we get.

Our 2nd stay at Rockhedge was the 3rd week of August 2008 and the property was as welcoming and well cared for as the year before. Mark & Durango work like beavers on Rockhedge as evidenced by the new stone patios outside. After looking for bears in RMNP for 8 years we finally had a mother and cub ramble right through the yard on our last day. Rockhedge is truly blessed with nature and wildlife. Can't wait to come back next year.

Our family had a wonderful stay in this home. It is more beautiful than the pictures. The yard was perfect for our four aspiring rock climbers and the wildlife was amazing. A fox "trotted" through the yard as we unpacked our car. The first morning we watched a family of elk graze and even bed down for a while in the yard. Estes Park is such a fun town but our stay was all the more wonderful staying in this home.

A niece and nephew joined us. What a fantastic home! The pictures didn't do it justice (although the pictures are pretty fantastic) and we were even more impressed when we looked through the pictures taken during the redesign of the place. We stayed at Rockhedge the week after Christmas 2007. We had a lovely week, and it was a great way to ring in the new year. The house is wonderful, and it is easy to see that much attention was paid to the details in the restoration. The kitchen was a treat to work in, and every gadget or ingredient we needed could be found in the cabinets. Mark and Durango are generous hosts, and are always a phone call away with ideas for restaurants or things to do in Estes Park or Boulder. This is a great location for either hiking through the wilderness in RMNP, or sitting by the fireplace for hours. Also, this is an ideal location for people with young children...the large table in the living room was a perfect place for keeping the kids busy with activities while the adults gathered by the fire. We truly enjoyed our stay!

The private balconey off of the loft is a retreat in itself and great place to read a book. The yard hosted an elk herd twice during our week, first with 16 and last with 40. The property is also home to a marmot, several fox, rabbits, squirrels, etc. Can't wait to come back. The house and property would be beautiful in winter too.
