Best and most elaxing Vacation EVER!!!

Guest: Emily (Winter Haven, FL)
Date of Stay: 12/23/11 Review Submitted: 04/15/12

We stayed here for Christmas 2011 and it was definitely the best family vacation we have ever had!! The cabin was everything we had hope for and more!!! It was so peaceful and such a relaxing place. We were looking for a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and we found it. We made memories with our girls that they will never forget!! We will definitely be back in the future and cannot wait for that day to come!! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for peace & quiet for a family vacation or even for a romantic get-away!! We also fell in love with the town or Murphy! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Just a beautiful experience all around!! Thank you for allowing our family to enjoy your cabin.

Stress Relief!!

Thank you for a wonderful stay, eventhough it was cut short by hurricane Irene. The cabin was spotless and well maintained! My daughter made strawberry ice cream, delicious!! Tried my hand at panning for gold I did find a few flakes and placed them in a bottle. But by accident my wife threw it out, there goes my early retirement! Did some horseback riding in Andrews. Spent the day in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Awesome drive on the Tail of the Dragon (twice), my kind of workout! My wife enjoyed just sitting on the deck reading while I relaxed in hammock enjoying a cold one or two. We will definitely return.

Lots of Memories Forever

Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/30/11

A wonderful time for everyone! Thank you! Cabin is beautiful & the creek was a highlight. Amazing how such a small touch such as the bowl of snacks on teh table when we arrived can make you feel so welcome. The kids loved making s'mores over the fire pit! We definitely recommend the Shoaks Marina on Lake Hiawassee. We took out a pontoon boat for 4 hours. The owner told us how to get to a waterfall & it was spectacular! No one on the lake (it was Wednesday). We docked the boat by the waterfall and jumped in! Fantastic little swimming hole. Our favorite excursion by far. Did a little driving into Gatlinberg & Cades Cove, then Highlands & Cashiers another day for the waterfalls - love Dry Falls as always. Came out one morning & the car was dead. One of your neighbors across the meadow was so sweet. Dropped everything to come give us a jump-start. We made him some home made chocolate chip cookies before leaving on Saturday. We will miss having coffee sitting on the back porch looking and listening to the stream! The kids are so sad to go! Thank you for everything. Lots of memories forever.

Wonderful family fun

Date of Stay: 07/15/11 Review Submitted: 08/30/11

What a wonderful place for family fun! The kids (ages 9 & 11) and the dogs absolutely loved being able to play outside with freedom they don't get in the city. We spent so much time in the "babbling brook" floating on tubes, wading & fishing. I loved sitting on the deck & enjoying the sights and sounds. It was a very stress free & relaxing week that flew by all too quickly! The cabin is so homey and comfortable and we loved all the special touches you have graced it with. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us.

Loved the cabin. My husband & I brought our Nephew & Niece, and our 4 year old great Nephew, and 7 year old great Niece with us. We had a wonderful time. The kids enjoyed the creek & the hot tub so much. They picked black berries next to the cabin. We saw 2 otters in the creek. You had everything we needed stocked in the cabin.Thank you for helping us make some wonderful memories.

Our honeymoon and 1 year anniversary

Guest: Zack & Megan
Date of Stay: 05/19/11 Review Submitted: 08/30/11

My wife and I absolutely LOVED your cabin! The sound of the rolling creek was so soothing. We would often get into the hammock to read and would fall off to sleep. We can't wait to come back again. __________________ (from wife) Everything from the stream to the firepit to the decorations on the wall offer the perfect quaint escape from reality. Although we live in the mountains ourselves in VA we never fully get to experience them. This was our honeymoon/1 year anniversary trip and it was beyand expectation. We loved the fact that we really didn't have to worry about anything and everything we needed was just at our fingertips. It's so pet friendly and our 2 goofballs just had a blast. They loved playing with their toys on the deck and went nuts when the cows came up. Thank you for providing such an amazing place!

Wonderful Get Away Location

Guest: Rachael (Atlanta)
Date of Stay: 05/05/11 Review Submitted: 05/11/11

Wow, what a great weekend! My husband and I stayed here for three nights and it's such a great place to get away and unwind. The place is dog-friendly and the cabin is thoughtfully stocked with all the supplies you can think of. It was very clean and felt like a home away from home. The little town of Murphy is quaint and the locals are friendly. I went horseback riding at Horseshoe Creek Riding Stables in Andrews, which is about 20 minutes from Murphy east down the highway. There is a welcome center where you can stop and get a map with all the local info. We definitely want to return and since it's only 2 hours from Atlanta, a perfect drive. I highly recommend the stay.

We really enjoyed your cabin. We all enjoyed playing & panning for gold in the creek. The area is beautiful. Enjoyed the time at the Cherokee Museum exploring our Indian ancestry. Even though it rained the last 2 days it was still a relaxing place to be. We look forward to visiting again soon & staying in the cabin. Glad we were the first to use the firepit & we are sure many more will enjoy it too.

My husband Joey & I really enjoyed your cabin and appreciate you making it available. As you know, we brought our Harley & best we've figured, we put about 600 miles on it during this week. My husband brought me for my 40th b-day which was yesterday & it's been my best one yet. To others who stay, the rafting on Ocoee is the best! The zip line is great but if the water is low like it is now, don't waste time driving all the way to Pigeon Forge for the waterfall as we did because there won't be one. The Chopshop is the best restaurant we ate at but they were all good. We watched our beloved Saints win over the 49'ers at Chevelles' & had a great lunch there also. Took great pictures at Cherohala Skyway and Biltmore Estates which is great! Take care & thanks again!

Thank you for alllowing us the pleasure of escaping from our fast lives in Florida. We got to slow down and relax. We did a lot of exploring on our motorcycle. We did some river rafting & Zipline only to come back & retreat to the hammock. I read while my husband slept. But it was so nice to see him relax. Our last adventure was Deals Gap. We are not looking forward to leaving this awesome weather. We will be returning to heat & rain. We have to put up with that to be able to enjoy beaches & sand, but it's nice to go back in time & relax in the mountains. We definitely see another retreat in our future. Thanks!

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful cabin with our family. Sitting on the deck, listening to the creek, was a perfect way to spend the month of August, escaping the heat and humidity of FL. We loved all our drives around the area, exploring country roads, waterfalls, picnic sites and great restaurants. Jay enjoyed catching our trout dinner, Rita loved the rocking chair you brought for her, and I loved the cool breezes and creek. Thank you for all your caring touches which made this our home away from home. P.S. -- Early one morning I watched an otter swim and fish in the creek. I only saw him once, but keep your eyes open -- it was quite a treat!

Thank you for letting us rent your wonderful cabin! It satisfied my husband and my need for nature's calming effect and my 10 and 6 year olds need for constant exploring. The kids loved panning for gold and actually caught four crawfish. Between the creek, hot tub and swimming hole at the Hanging Dog boat ramp, my kids were never dry. We found many things within an hour's driving distance that were very interesting, such as tubing, hiking, walking downtown on Riverwalk, etc. The cabin was so well stocked with essentials it was unbelievable. Thanks again for the wonderful time in your cabin . We will return.

My husband and I really enjoyed the cabin. The peacefulness and serenity really hit the spot. The hot tub was perfect -- especially after a long day looking at waterfalls toward Cashiers and Highlands, NC. I left maps for these in the utility room. For dinner we went to the "Chop House". Beautiful presentation and the most tasteful salmon I ever had. We panned for gold in the creek. Don't know if we found any, but the rocks we did find will be displayed in our atrium when we get home. The owners made us feel right at home and we will definitely be back.

We fished in the creek and we caught 8 trouts! We went diging for gold and we found real gold! We went to a festival in Murphy and we drove a 50 year old tractor. Over all we had the best time this weakend. Thank you for leting us stay in this cabin.

Day 1 -- arrived about 2:30 & just relaxed & unpacked. The boys (11 & 10) played in the creek. We went into Murphy and got groceries at Walmart & Ingles. We were amazed at how clean both stores were. Day 2 -- We drove to some falls in Tennessee. . . . On the way back we stopped at the old fashined ice cream shack by the McDonalds. It was so good!! It's called "No Name". This evening NC had an earthquake quite near our cabin. I had no idea what it was & didn't think much of it till the owner called. We have bombings near where we live, & it felt similar to that. Day 3 -- That day started out raining, but we decided to head to Franklin anyway to go gem mining at Sheffields. The boys had a lot of fun. Afterwards we drove to see some folks; Whitewater Falls (Saphire, NC). View is amazing. We went last year but this year my husband & sons walked down the extra trails while I waited for them. We then saw Dry Falls & Causeuga Falls. Both can be seen from 64. Both of the falls are beautiful & worth the drive. Dry Falls you can walk underneath & isn't much of a walk. Day 4 -- spent the majority of the day reading while Daniel & the boys played cards. They are going golfing here shortly. Day 5 -- Went to the Lost Sea in Sweatwater, TN. It was a great day trip & the kids really enjoyed it. We then went to Bold River Falls in Tellico Plains. It was a really nice falls & right off of 165. Day 6 -- We are heading to the Natahala today to go rafting. We went yesterday so we are skeptical after all the rain of how cold the water is going to be. We had a great time & the price was right . . . Day 7 -- We went tubing in Blairsville, GA. The atmosphere was cute & some great shops, however tubing kinda boring. If you want better tubing, try Cherokee KOQ near Mingo Falls. We also drove to Cleveland, GA & went to the Cabbage Patch Hospital. I needed to get my neice a b'day gift. Day 8 & 9 -- Totally relaxing at the cabin & fishing. We caught a lot of trout the days we were here & had a great vacation. Wish we didn't have to leave. Day 10 -- Heading back home. We plan to come again next year.

Thanks for the invitation for the extra night. Unfortunately, my Father is very ill and we need to get back to Tampa. However, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovely cottage. We have rested, played tourist, taken a boat trip, looked for a house in the area, and eaten at some fabulous restaurants -- especially the Chop House. \ The greatest thrill for me was having my own herd of cows across the creek. They were absolutely adorable. Thanks again.

I believe my husband & I had entirely different vacations . . . I love to relax & not do much at times (that is vacation to me & relaxing). The beauty here on this site & the sound of water . . . amazing. I was able to make use of the morning time to think & read & just BE. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to catch up on ME & the things that escape being a part of my life because "there just isn't enough time." I don't remember the lst time I read a 500+ page book but I was so glad I was able to in this week! Watching the shadows dance on the wooden floor intermixed with the rays of the sun . . . this is what relaxing is! We had a great time getting out to Cheerokee, Atlanta, Gatlinburg & some other areas. I believe our favorite unexpected adventure was Alpine Helen in Georgia . . . a must see for all of those that love Germany! I'd say it's an hour away . . . . Well worth it & Paul's Steakhouse there has all you can eat crabs for $23 a person Thursday nights. Ocoee River area where 1996 Olympics were -- Real cool! So was Joyce Kilemer Forest. Thanks for everything!

Our first day here we were blessed with a blanket of "SNOW" and it continued into the next day. With us -- our family -- living in Tampa, Flrida, we don't get this beautiful weather. This is our daughter's FIRST time seeing snow at the age of fourteen (14) along with her friend that came along on our NC vacation. This is a great start on our vacation. It has put smiles on our faces from ear to ear. We try to visit up here in the mountains of GA & NC once a year around Springtime. This is our third year up here & we always enjpy ourselves. 4/6 -- Today we visited downtown Blue Ridge to shop til we drop. They have great gift shops there. 4/10 -- We traveled to "Chunky Gal Stables" for an hour ride on some horses. We grilled some chicken & enjoyed a little bit of fishing out at the creek. 4/11 -- Took a ride into Blue Ridge for a nice dinner at "Toccoa Riverside Restraunt". . . . Great place & view of river out of this world. We really loved our stay here and hope to be here again next year.

This is the second time my wife and I have had the wonderful opportunity to stay in this cabin. Once again it didn't disappoint! We had a great time both here and away on visits. I must recommend "The Cole House" in Andrews, NC for dinner. We were very lucky to find it. When we took a day trip on Saturday the 22nd, we were fortunate to be able to visit Cades Cove via the Foothills Parkway, then on thru the Smokies (Lots of snow on the ground!!), and ending up in the casino in Cherokee. What a treat to be able to relax in the hot tub by the creek after a long day! . . . So thank you again and we'll try to bring the family next summer!

We were fortunate to get to watch the 2008 Olympics & watch girls Gymnastics get Gold & Silver! Wow! What a blessing for us all!

The best part of our I week vacation here is that we got to do exactly what we wanted -- a whole lot of not much :). No TV, no internet, email or cell phones. We spent our time mostly enjoying nature right here at the cabin. Some time in the hammock, some time in the hot tub, some time enjoying meals out on the deck, some time fishing and even several walks up and down the creek. For those after us that brave the frigid waters of the creek, make sure you have water shoes -- even then, many of the rocks are extremely slippery. For those that try some trout fishing -- less is more! Small hook, your basic worms from Citgo or Walmart, a few split shot sinkers and you're all set. That will catch everything in the stream. There are a few good holes but the best by far is around the tree others had mentioned. Most of the trout were 6-8 in but aren't worth the effort of eating that small. I did catch one that was 16 in right under that tree -- quite tasty! I did learn that fileting is NOT the way to go. Just regular cleaning then fry him up. Once cooked, the skin will easily peel away, then use a fork to pull the meat away from the spine at a 45 degree angle toward the tail and most of the bones will stay with the spine. Still be very careful as there are about 100 fine bones that easily detach and hide in the meat. . . . All in all, we had a great time enjoying the cabin, the surroundings and each other. There was plenty to do for the whole family and one of only a few vacations we could truly call a "vacation."

What a piece of paradise this is!! I set up a jigsaw puzzle on the deck and sat out here each morning listening to the brook. What a peaceful place! The cabin was perfect. We used it as a base to explore the surrounding mountains. We visited Joyce Kilmer St. Park, Cade's Cove and went rafting down the Naatahala. We also enjoyed dining at Shoe-Bootie's! Don't miss it! But our best moments were here at the cabin relaxing and playing board games with our children. We will long remember and hope to return to Grandview Valley.

We played & fished in the creek, enjoyed the beauty of Murphy as well as a little traveling to see waterfalls, horseback riding, Ruby Falls & Rock city. Thank you for making this cabin feel like home away from home!! The internet pictures definately do not do this cabin justice -- much more beautiful in person. Thanks again.

I could not have asked for a more awesome place and I would like to thank you. I hope to return again for a visit. Quiet, peaceful and the serenity that I needed. Thank you again.

Thanks for sharing your cozy cabin with us. We enjoyed everything about it and especially appreciated the Christmas decorations. This is the 5th cabin we have rented over the years and by far the cleanest. It was so nice to have "the basics" supplied so that we didn't have to travel into town everyday. The week was very relaxing. We hate to leave!
