WELCOME TO CRESTED BUTTE, the last of Colorado's great ski towns! Here you'll find uncrowded, world class ski slopes and delightful Victorian architecture. CB is known for its gourmet restaurants, shops, and cozy pubs featuring nightly entertainment. In the winter, CB is a skier's paradise. In summer, it's a mecca for hikers, mountain bikers, fishermen, and golfers drawn by its unparalled trail access and stunning scenic beauty. Unlike many ski towns, CB is a historic mining town, still much as it was 100 years ago, unspoiled by fast food outlets and chain stores. The crowds in this off-the-beaten-path location are small, and the locals are friendly and happy to see you.
While you're in CB, plan to stay in our condo in the Columbine Building. Our ground floor front door is just steps away from the slopes, just above the Base Area and the high speed Silver Queen and Red Lady lifts. Skiing in or out couldn't be easier or more convenient. Come inside and take in the view of Mt. Emmons, Mt. Axtell, and Mt. Whetstone in the background, with skiers and snowboarders of every kind whiz by in the foreground. Our unit sleeps two adults in the bedroom's queen bed, and an additional two can sleep in the sofabed in the living room. The beds have down comforters. Amenities rival those of the finest hotels, even down to complimentary soap and shampoo. The condo was recently remodeled and all furniture and appliances are new.
Apres ski, indulge in a dip in the outdoor hot tub with other Columbine guests. There are also a shared steam room and outdoor gas grill. Then come home to a toasty wood fire right in your own living room. All the wood you can burn is neatly stacked outside the front door. Also included: DVD and CD players, free cable TV with HBO, and high speed Internet. There is a coin-operated laundry a few steps away, in the same building. A free shuttle bus to anywhere in CB stops just outside.
Why is THIS condo so special? At first glance, the features are similar to those of many other ski vacation rentals. But what the others don't have is TRUE ski-in/ski-out convenience. Here, the front door is just a few steps from the slope. There are no stairs, elevators, or long hotel hallways to navigate while lugging skis, boots, and poles. Plus, it's just a short walk from the restaurants, shops, and nightlife of the main base area. Beware of ski-in/ski-out accommodations near the Westwall, Peachtree, Gold Link, or Prospect lifts -- they are far, far away. And another thing... Outdoor parking, right on the edge of the ski slope, right in front of the condo, is included with your rental. Even parking in the expensive VIP area of the pay lots wouldn't get you such convenience!
If you're coming in summer, the condo is perfectly positioned for quiet enjoyment and great trail access. Whether you're hiking or mountain biking, a wide-ranging trail network starts right outside your door, criss-crossing Mt. Crested Butte and going far beyond. Hike directly to the spectacular summit, or ride a chair lift up and bike down. A golden world of alpine beauty in the town they call the Wildflower Capital of Colorado will be yours.
It's easy to book our Columbine one bedroom condo. You deal directly with us, the owners. Because we don't pay a commission to a property manager, our rates are very reasonable compared to what you'll find elsewhere in Crested Butte. We accept payment by check or by credit card via PayPal. Want more information? Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
Laurie Bolard and Janet Bowman are partners who live with their three kids in Corte Madera, California. We are outdoors people. Laurie is a former national-class bike racer, and Janet is an active competitor in trail running. Laurie loves sailing on the San Francisco Bay; Janet plays bass guitar in a classic rock band. Hobbies we share are skiing and golf.
Why the Owner Chose Crested Butte
We discovered Crested Butte on a family road trip in the summer of 2004, and fell in love. We had visited other Colorado ski towns, but none compared with the scenic beauty, open vistas, and rustic charm of CB. Much of Colorado has scenic beauty, so that's really saying something! In summer, we loved the extensive trail system, which are equally accessible to hikers and mountain bikers. We came back that winter to experience the ski area, and possibly look at real estate. The ski area turned out to be just what we were dreaming of - big, uncrowded, plenty of varied terrain from easy groomers to challenging double-diamonds. And the snow - light, fluffy, abundant. We did look at real estate. We bought a small home and a ski-in/ski-out condo. Now we come as often as we can, staying in the home and renting out the condo. The condo has only one bedroom, but what a treat to stay there and ski right from the front door! We hope you have the chance to share our Crested Butte obsession!

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at this condo. The location is great for skiing in and out and the view is spectacular; high enough to get an expansive view of the entire area and surrounding mountains; yet low enough to be in the lift line in a couple of minutes. I especially liked the updated furnishings, the comfortable bed and the rock fireplace in the unit. We will seriously consider this condo on our next trip to Crested Butte.

We had a fun time in Crested Butte and it was a real pleasure to get up in the morning and just walk to the end of the building an ski down to the lift. Also, we discovered Monarch Ski area about 1 hr 15 min away. It is also a great place to ski. The Condo is very comfortable and very convenient. Thanks for the week end.
