My family (hubby, 15 yr old girl, 7 yr old boy, 8 yr old boy, small dog) and I was so excited to go to the cabin/house for Christmas. We brought a small tree and all the prestents. On Christmas it snowed all day, we stayed in our jammies and had a fire going. So peaceful and relaxing. There are activities for the kids to do downstairs, which they loved. I felt like I was out in the wilderness but with the comfort of knowing diners and stores were only 2 mins away. The appliances were updated models and the kitchen well stocked. Coffee pot could be replaced and the dishwasher has a small leak, so we had to hand wash all the dishes. Really wasn't too bad. Just who really likes to wash dishes on vacation. I would really like to visit the Hood Mt. Hideaway in the summer. I bet it's beautiful!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners.

We needed a place to take our dogs over the 4th of July holiday weekend to avoid fireworks. This cabin exceeded our expectations. The cabin is situated among tall trees and beautiful flowering bushes, and felt very private. Everything was comfortable and clean, the kitchen was well-stocked with every amenity, and the hot tub was heaven! I spent one whole day just lounging in the sunny back yard, and taking a soak in the hot tub under the stars that night. The video library was a nice touch. Unfortunately, I didn't get to use the air hockey table or the foosball table, but I'll definitely make use of them next time! There are nearby hiking trails when you need to stretch your legs. The Zig Zag Inn was actually very good and within walking distance. Overall, we had a very relaxing stay and highly recommend this cabin!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dion, Great to hear about your relaxing stay at the Hideaway! Best wishes, Rand and Aysha

We stayed at the Hood Mountain Hideaway in June 2011 and had a great time. It was our first VRBO-booked stay and we were quite happy with it. The house is tucked away off the main road so it took us a couple of passes to find it. We were quite relieved once we did. The house was welcoming and had everything we needed for our mountain stay. The kitchen was ample and well-stocked, the dining room had a huge table with plenty of seating, the bathroom was quite large and clean, the bedrooms were clean and nicely decorated, the living room was warm and inviting with its large HDTV (with cable...yay) and fireplace. The downstairs basement was fun and had a great washer & dryer and lots of things for the kids & adults to enjoy (Foosball, basketball hoop game, air hockey). Unfortunately, the Wii was broken when we went, but there were plenty of things to enjoy! The kids particularly enjoyed the tree swing...a lot! The weather was cold and rainy and we Floridians were too cold-fobic to enjoy the hot tub, but it looked really nice and clean. My only complaint was that there were not enough towels for our party to have 1 to use for the hot tub and 1 to use for the shower each, so I guess it was good we did not use the hot tub. It was a short drive to Timberline Lodge and the Ski Bowl (which unfortunately was closed due to the weather), and there are good places to eat in the area (El Burro Loco was good and reasonably priced). The owners were really nice and attentive. The contract was well-written and easily understood. (I appreciated this after another VRBO experience with a contract that was all over the place). Our security deposit was returned shortly after our visit (THANKS!). We all had a great time and have recommended the locale to friends who are interested in future trips to the area.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Ana, Your review made me want to reserve a week for our own family! Glad you had a great stay! Rand and Aysha

We enjoyed every thing the cabin had to offer, especailly the fireplace and hot tub! It was the perfect place for girl friends to catch up, get away from our busy lives and celebrate one of our friend's engagement! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderfull place! My husband, adult son and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in February 2011. We had visited the Mt. Hood area in the summer but never in the winter. The Hideaway was so conveniently located that we could fish, hike and ski within a relatively short distance. The Hideaway met our every expectation. The wooded setting a short distance from the main road was easy to find and provide us with beautiful quiet setting. It was comfortable, clean and the pictures well represent the place. We especially enjoyed our evenings in front of the fireplace, the hot tub was used daily, and the local restaurants were near enough with good food when we didn't want to cook. I am sure we will choose to return to the Hidelawy as our son has made his home in Oregon. The owner was responsive and made the whole process very easy. Bravo! Thank you. We stayed in the cabin for six days in November 2010 and had a great time. This cabin was really equipped in the kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom, and the basement. All the pictures of the cabin are exactly as shown....everything was cozy, comfrontable, and clean. Rand provided quick response before, during, and after our stay. I would recommend this cabin for a getaway anytime of year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you for the great weekend getaway. We enjoyed our time at the cabin as much as the fun at skibowl (Alpine slide was awesome!) and hiking. The kids loved the rope swing and air hockey. I enjoyed the spacious well appointed kitchen and hot tub, and my hubby of course loved the nice size TV for kicking back and watching football! It was so hard to leave and come back home. Cabin was very clean and warmly decorated. Rustic with feminine touches appeal to all. Took us a bit to get used to the good old fashioned wood burning fireplace and ashy smell that comes with it-but that is part of the charm. (There is a good smelly air freshener to mask the smell if you choose) Very private feel and quiet even with a few neighboring cabins... My kids are begging to go back next weekend and every weekend after....Loved it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family, which includes, an 11 month old infant, a 3 1/2 year old and an 11 year old, just returned from our stay and it was fantasitc. The home was well equipped for all ages, with a baby gate, a high chair, and baby utensils, and a Wii, board games, and toddler toys. It is very close to Mt. Hood Ski Bowl and other activities. It was very clean, roomy and well furnished. We will defintely return and recommend it to anyone, of any age.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This was a great selection. Plenty of privacy, close to a lot of things and very comfortable. My family couldn't stop thanking me for making this the place to celebrate my birthday. And any place that keeps both kids under 5 and over 15 happy is a home run in my book!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We visited Hood Mountain Hideaway for a family reunion and had a great time there! There was a tree swing outside and plenty of games (basketball, foozball, and even a game system) in the basement for the kids to stay entertained. I really appreciated that there was a baby gate and kids toys stored away for us, too. Of course we enjoyed the hot tub and comfortable beds. This cabin is decorated so cute and it was emaculately clean. The kitchen was stocked with a ton of dishes, utensils, and even had a griddle ond other smaller kitchen appliances for food prep that you wouldn't expect. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun filled get-away.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We stayed at this wonderful rental property while hosting a slumber party/snow boarding event. The place was beautiful and every amenity you could imagine was met or exceeded. The property was cozy and comfortable with everything to stay toasty in the snowy weather. The hot tub was heavenly in 25 degree weather and after a long day of bouncing around on the slopes was absolutely what the doctor ordered. I would highly recommend this rental for couples or families as there was plenty of room to stretch out and is close to all the ski parks, convenience stores and restaurants.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Grand place. The photos do not do justice to this warmly decorated, comfortably appointed cabin in a peaceful wooded setting. The hosts are attentive and responsive, too. We had just a short weekend to enjoy it-- but it's definitely worth a longer stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We booked the Hood Mountain Hideaway for our annual friend and family getaway and couldn't of been more pleased with every detail extended to the cabin luxurious beds, fully stocked large kitchen, amazing hot tub and a great game room the kids loved. All within a ten minute drive to Mt. Hood. The fireplace was enjoyed every night after a day of skiing and snowboarding a quick soak in the hot tub and a quick bite to eat we always ended up in front of the huge fireplace enjoying each others company and the relaxing in the ambient settings of the cabin. I am reluctant to recommend Hood mountain hideaway for the simple fact we enjoyed it sooooo much and don't want to share it. Just Kidding, anyone looking for a relaxing stay close to the metro area Hood Mountain Hideaway has it all.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We rented this home for Super Bowl Weekend, we had 4 seperate families all with at least one child. Our kids ranged in age from 8 months to 5 years old. There was plenty of rooms & space for everyone. There were baby gates and other items that made this extremely kid friendly. For the adults, the house had just about any kitchen utensil you could ask for, including wine glasses and dinner plates. We were even able to go sledding right down the home's driveway, we did not need to drive up to the mountain everyday due to heavy snow conditions that whole week. Our only complaint is that the cable line was broke and we had been told it was repaired, but you could tell no one had been at the house that week. The owner's did try to get the cable company out, but the cable company never came. This was a fun place to get together with family & friends to enjoy a weekend together.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: Winter storms have dumped lots of snow this year which is great for skiing and family fun, but once in a while they interrupt power and other services. The cable company promptly repaired a connection after a storm two weeks prior to this weekend, but another storm brought a tree branch down on the cable hookup the day before our guests checked in. The cabin had been vacant and the problem went undetected until our guests arrived. The cable company was notified immediately and several requests for speedy attention were made. Because of the short lead time the cable company was unable to fill our request. To remedy this we have instructed our cleaning service to visit the cabin the day before our guests are scheduled to check-in and report any service outages.

I stayed at this cabin last week and would recommend it to anyone. It is clean, tastefully decorated, and has a charm all its own. The bed and pillow were SO comfortable--quite unusual, I think. The kitchen had everything we needed...and the scenery around the cabin was fantastic. Lush green, very tall pines, etc. The Decks are big enough for a gathering. We will come back again!(and again) This is a gem.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
