We spent five nights at the cottage and found everything to be as advertised and more. The cottage was charming, the location was peaceful and we could not have asked for more. There is plenty to do but if you prefer to read a book or take a nap, there are lots of places to do so, both inside and out! Our hosts made sure we were comfortable but were not the least bit intrusive. Thanks for a wonderful stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Our 5 days stay at the Cottage was just perfect. while the setting are even better than the pictures, it is Ron and Michael sense of hospitality that realy set this property appart. From the level of lighting and music playing upopn arrival, to the selection of coffee and welcome fruit basket, their sense of arrival beats many of the luxury Hotel I have stayed in the past. Our stay was so relaxing, that we spend most of our time enjoying the cottage and the lake rather than exploring the surrounding area. and if you enjoy cooking or grilling, there isn't a thing missing in their kitchen :) . Our stay at the Cottage ranks within some of the best vacation we have taken and we will definitely be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband, young son and I spent July 4th at the Cottage with my parents, and we had a fantastic trip. We had never been to Cedar Creek Lake before, and we really enjoyed ourselves. I must admit that driving in we were a little worried - Gun Barrel City is a little grim - but once we arrived we felt right at home. The Cottage is chock-full of unique items and well stocked with anything you might need during your stay: cooking equipment, toiletries, laundry items, beach towels, games, etc. And Ron brought over something special every day, which really was a treat. We loved having the dock and water access so close and went swimming every day. We don't have our own boat, and we rented nearby with no problem. There is plenty of room to spread out at the Cottage, but with one bathroom it is probably best for families or those fine with sharing. And be prepared to cook at home most days, as the nearby restaurant options are mainly limited to fast food (with the exception of the Railway Cafe in downtown Athens - yum!).Recommended for: Families with young children.

We had a great July 4th weekend!! Ron and Michael are excellent hosts without ever being intrusive. The properties are kept in excellent shape, pictures on the website don't tell the whole story. The whole family had fun swimming, kayaking, and relaxing in the evenings. I highly recommend staying at Cedar Creek Lakehouse and will be back soon!!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: What a pleasure to have you as our guests! We hope to see you again soon!

Visiting the cottage felt like you were wrapped in the warmth of caring arms. There was nothing that wasn't already provided for us. The cottage was sparkling clean and welcoming, and the hosts were delightful and fun. It was a joy to spend a few days there, and I am making plans to visit often. Warmest thanks for offering this great retreat to others! DeborahDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our week at the Cottage was the BEST! I bill it as the best clean American fun vacation we've had in years. The home itself and the surrounding landscape added immensly to the vacation experience - a real enchanted forest.Ron and Michael were available whenever we needed them and were the most gracious hosts ever... they even prepared a fresh fruit basket and brought it down to the dock on our last afternoon in the sun! Every detail had been attended to, which allowed us to sit back and relax. Sunny days in the water were followed by evenings reading books, working puzzles or catching up on our favorite TV programs. The kitchen was stocked with every imaginable gadget and the cupboards had lots of yummy treats already provided. The ducks, fish and turtles thrilled our kids. Our 6 year old caught her first fish off the dock. There was so much to do at the cottage that we ended up cancelling plans to visit a local waterpark. At night, the firepit allowed us to reflect on the day's happenings while the kids happily roasted marshmallows. The sunsets were to die for - be sure to take a camera.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: Country boys at heart with a great appreciation for the finer things in life! We love the feeling of being near the water....the wooded, rustic charm of our homes and the natural setting. Animals lovers....we share our land with our flock of heirloom breed laying hens, ducks, geese and a small herd of dairy goats! Come see why we call it 'paradise'!
Why the Owner Chose Mabank:
We searched the lake for over a year to find the perfect location for our own vacation home. The top priorities for us were privacy and a sense of seclusion.....we simply did not want to look out and see 10 boathouses or stare at a bank of homes and neighbors across a cove. We also wanted a firm, sandy swimming area, protection from the heavy boat traffic and choppiness of wide open water, but we wanted a open water view. As nature lovers, we also wanted to be nestled in wooded setting for shade, wildlife and natural beauty.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We made the decision to focus on providing our guests with a little something extra when staying with us.....from high quality linens (Freshly pressed!), to farm fresh eggs from our own laying hens, we work to 'surprise and delight' each guest on their visit. Whether it's a new furnishing, art or antique, we strive to keep our homes crisp and updated with constant improvements. Repeat visitors and referrals from previous guests are the mainstay of our business. We're told our homes 'feel like home'....and are just as 'fresh and clean as the first visit'....this tells us we are doing something right!
