Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2005

My wife and I bought the house in 2005 and renovated the house from top to bottom -- from adding a new roof, adding lots of new windows, and building a brand new sun room that is the favorite part of the house for my family and our valued renters.

Why the Owner Chose Lewes

We wanted a house in the middle of the historic district walking distance from Second Street. We're also very happy that it's a dead end street filled with pre-1900 houses.

The Unique Benefits of this House

Every time we visit 109 Jefferson, we bring another bag of books so there's always something to read.

Started our summer perfectly

My family had the pleasure of staying in your home the very first week of our summer break this year and it was perfect. We have stayed in Lewes for years and adore the town and now your home. There was enough space for all of us to be comfortable and the sunroom and kitchen were perfect for everyone to have a meal and play games. I am so hoping that we can stay again in 2012 - I wish I could stay all summer :-)

November Birthday Celebration

Guest: Barb (PA)
Date of Stay: 11/21/10 Review Submitted: 02/06/11

A vacation I will always treasure. My children rented the house for my 60th Birthday Celebration over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Since they all live in different states it was a wonderful celebration as a family. We all absolutely LOVED the house. It was decorated beautifully and had everyhthing you need, we cooked a complete turkey dinner and enjoyed it around the table in the beautiful sun room. The house was spacious which allowed for everyone to spend time together or have some alone reading time. Although it was November we enjoyed walking time, a little beach time, some great meals, and this house made it a cozy, intimate family time. The town of Lewes is a sweet place with very friendly people. This was a vacation I will never forget.

Owner response:Thank you very much for the wonderful feedback. My wife and I bring the kids to Lewes as often as possible and we always try to improve the house any way we can. We've also been very lucky to have such wonderful guests that treat our house even more carefully than we do. As an owner, your comments really validate all the hard work we've invested in renovating, maintaining, and improving our 1850s house. Thank you very much and we're always honored when people want to spend time in our house.

Letter from September 9, 2007: "Hi Seth, I just want to let you know how much we LOVED your house at Lewes. My Mom absolutely adored it, and didn't want to leave. Neither did the rest of us. It was so homey and comfortable and we looked forward to returning home every night! It was truly our best family vacation. We all fell in love with Lewes itself, and I thought Cape Henlopen was fantastic. I also want to thank you for the wonderful suggestions on places to go and things to do. It was so helpful. We had breakfast at the bookstore cafe, my Mom loved Cafe Azafran, and we had a great meal at Striper Bites. We also ate at home for a few breakfasts and dinners, and the kitchen made it a snap. We put in a reservation for the same week next summer, but we might be interested in renting a different week or even possibly an additional week. Please let us know when you start thinking about booking reservations for next year. Thanks again so much. Best wishes, E.S. & Family"
