This house is the closest 3 bedroom rental on VRBO to Sombrero Beach!! You can walk to Sombrero Beach in a few minutes. And what a beach! The City of Marathon recently spent $5M renovating this beach, making it one of the best beaches in the Keys. Beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, etc. are all provided.
Spectacular sunrises can be seen from two wrap-around porches. All the bedrooms have doors to the porches, so if you're an early riser, wake up in the morning and enjoy the sunrise. You'll also be able to sun youself on one of the porches, or read a book in the shade.
A large 12' X 28' heated pool has been recently installed. The pool deck offers shade under palm trees or you can bask under the sun in your Speedo. Don't worry, there's plenty of privacy, as this house sits on a lot that's over an acre - huge by any Keys' standard.
Underwater dock lights have been installed in the canal out back to attract fish at night. You'll be mesmerized by the fish swimming in cirles around the light OR you can drop a line and try and catch a fish. Mangrove snapper, catfish, tarpon, angel fish, sting rays, and even nurse sharks have been caught in this canal. Fishing rods are provided, so go ahead, let the kids catch their first fish from the dock out back. The 40' dock is equipped with electric (including shore tie), plumbing, fish cutting station, and lights for night time use. We have an extra refrigerator/freezer for your ice, catch, and bait. Boat rental companies will drop off and pick up from my dock. We're on the Atlantic side (MM 50), so you're real close to some of the world's best fishing, diving, and snorkling. The Gulf is real close via the 7 mile bridge.
Meander by the mangroves in one of the two kayaks that are available for your use. Your pets can also meander around the yard, as there's a chain link fence along three sides of the property (the fourth side is the canal out back).
Our aim is to go above and beyond the norm, to make your stay a most enjoyable experience. Not one, but two gas grills are provided, and we even provide an extra tank of gas, just in case you run out of propane while you're cooking that special Keys dinner (we try to think of everything).
We also provide high speed wireless Internet, so you can quickly do your emails and get back to relaxin'. Your kids will be able to immediately upload their Keys' vacation pics to their MySpace friends, and you can sneak a peak at your emails without your spouse catching you, as the wireless signals work inside and outside the house.
The entire house (inside and out) has been recently painted in tropical colors. The rooms are also decorated in tropical decor. All the bedrooms have new carpets as well. When you enter the house, the cathedral ceilings will give you that open and airy perspective. The bedrooms have one king, one queen and two twin size beds. Come and enjoy our house for that special vacation.

My husband and I, along with our 4 children ranging in age from 5 years old to 17 years old, stayed in this home for a week over Christmas 2011. Anyone who has ever traveled with this many children having such a wide age range knows that it is challenging to find a vacation where everyone is entertained and happy. Marathon and this vacation rental helped us to have the best family vacation we have ever been on. Having a private pool, canal access, and a beach less than a 5 minute walk away meant there was always something for everyone. Additional features we really appreciated were: * TV's in every bedroom plus one in the living room for a total of 4 (no fighting over television shows), * Easy to find (we arrived in Marathon at 2:30am and drove right to it) and a great location--close to 2 grocery stores, Kmart, and the beach. * Neil was great to work with. He emailed us tons of information about area attractions and suggested restaurants. We tried a new restaurant every night. Sombrero beach was beautiful. On Christmas Day we drove over to Bahia Honda Beach because of all the positive reviews but ended up returning to Sombrero Beach because we thought it was nicer. We spent time on 4 different days at the beach. We also managed to go to Theater of the Seas for a Sea Lion Swim, the Turtle Rescue Hospital, a snorkeling charter, and the Dolphin Research Center where our older 2 kids had a dolphin encounter. We just cannot say enough positive things about our time in the Florida keys at this vacation rental. We highly recommend it and can't wait to go back!

Noy just because it makes good business sense, but I do get a sense of satisfaction knowing that this family had a great time and will remember their vacation in the Keys for many, many years. This was our second stay at this property and it was great! The recent improvements (new flat screen TV, new cookware, new dishwasher,etc) only made it better. Neil Flynn (property manager) is awesome, my family have been visiting the Keys for many years and this property is the best we have rented by far! We plan to be back again next year, thanks Neil!
