With nearly 100 feet of water frontage, you can watch the morning fog lift or enjoy a late evening sunset from the screened deck overlooking the pristine banks of the Greenbrier River. Canada Geese and Heron are your neighbors, and beneath the surface await the smallmouth bass for which the lower Greenbrier is renowned.

If you're staying a few days, the Lazy River Retreat is a short drive from some of West Virginia's top recreation and entertainment, including whitewater rafting on the New and Gauley Rivers; skiing at Snowshoe and Winterplace resorts; mountain biking on more than 40 trails in the Greenbrier and New River Valleys; West Virginia’s largest Fourth of July celebration (Alderson); the West Virginia State Fair (Lewisburg), John Henry Days (Talcott); the West Virginia Water Festival and Train Days (Hinton); and the world famous Greenbrier Resort (White Sulphur).

If that’s not enough, there really is no 'off season' in southern West Virginia, for the Fall and Winter bring some of the region’s best wildlife viewing and hunting, including deer, turkey, pheasant, and bear.

  • The second time was better than the first visit! The home peaceful and very cozy. Jim and Barbara are our family away from family. The cabin, well we feel that it is our home away from home. We have talked and all of our vacations will be at the Lazy River Retreat! Great views, golf and wonderful parks nearby. Thanks again Jim and Barbara for everything!

  • WOW! The cabin is perfect! We spent alot of time on the back screen porch watching the early mornings awake.It really helped us releive ourselfs from the day to day stress, and reminded us that our creator made a beautiful world. Our dogs loved the river and freedom of playtime. Neighbors are totally friendly. Will we return? YES and we cant wait! Thanks Jim and Barbara for the useage of your wonderful Lazy River Retreat!   • The house was immaculate! It is beautifully decorated as well. While the house is small it has a fairly big back porch that is screened in and has a wonderful view of the Greenbrier River. The river was perfect for swimming while we were there (mid July)! There are a few close neighbors but all were nice and polite to us. The closest neighbor is very helpful and even gave us vegetables out of his garden. It is worth the $75 per night. The house is just a few miles outside of Alderson and Hinton where you can find a few things to do. Lewisburg is about 30 minutes away and has everything you need. The views are just amazing in this area! Be sure to check out Sandstone Falls which is only a 40 minute drive. Complaints...the master bedroom does not have a door on it and the bathroom door does not have a lock on it and would not stay shut. Other than that we loved it and would highly suggest this place! Two thumbs up for Lazy River Retreat...if they fix the doors :)
