5 couples have spent a fall weekend here for two years and we're returning next year. I've stayed in hotels in the US and in Europe and none come close to the quality of the beds, linens and amenities of the cottage. It's quiet. pretty and very cozy. The new kitchen is great! Thank you, Marla, for sharing your space with us!

Three Generation Vacation

This was an absolutely lovely vacation home. There were 10 of us, ages ranging from 4 to 60. We had a delightful time at Golden Gate. The house is perfectly set up with a wonderful view of the lake from the dining, living area and two of the master bedrooms. We could not have asked for anything more. The owners were very gracious and the home was supplied with everything imaginable. There was plenty of room for all of us. We visited, Cedar Point, Put-in-Bay, did a fishing charter and did Wild Safari. The rest of the time we spent on the beach and the wonderful patio out back overlooking the lake. The grandkids as well as the adults were not ready to leave when the time came. I would recommend The Golden Gate to anyone who is looking for a great get away on Lake Erie for a relaxing time with all the comforts of home.

Golden Gate cottage has the most beautiful view of the lake and sunsets....The house is very unique with alot of antiques with a great homey feel...There is no place better to relax...I could stay there forever... Thank You Marla for the wonderful weekend...See ya next year....

Birders Paradise

Four of us rented your lovely home for a week of birding at Black Swamp Bird Observatory/ Magee Marsh for the spring warbler migration. The house is fantastically located immediately on the shore of Lake Erie and is very close to these birding hot spots. The kitchen is great for foodies and the dining room table has beautiful views of the lake and the yard was often filled with birds. Four spacious bedrooms upstairs share a very economical bathroom. There is plenty of sitting and living space to spread out. All modern amenities are present and great working condition. Neighbors are friendly. The area is inviting for a walk along the shore and marsh.

It is a full bath with a shower (no tub). On the first floor we have another full bath with a tub. And there is also a first floor bedroom; for a total of five bedrooms. Dear Marla, Thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful home. We reallye enjoyed ourselves. We spent most of our time enjoying the view of the lake, your spacious home and Put-in-Bay island. We are a group of college buddies who rarely get together so this weekend meant a lot to us! Dear Marla, Thanks so much for having such a wonderful place for us to spend our annual girls weekend. This is our second stay at Golden Gate---It was just as great the second time around! Last year we had it all, rain, sleet, snow and wind. This year, nothin' but sunshine and blue skies. What more could we ask for in early Nov. in northwestern OH!? The house always has everything we need, and we leave rested and ready to return to "real life" Thanks for helping us make great memories!

Just want to let you know what a lovely time we had this week. This house was the perfect setting for our family to meet and spend time together. It is a great blend of "things to do" or "do absolutely nothing." The younger folks enjoyed the pool table, the TV and stero in the garage. We older folks definitely appreciated the hot tub with the gorgeous view. It was also very nice to have all of the paper products, linens etc. provided. The firepit on the beach also gave us hours of entertainment in the evening. Thanks again for the lovely flowers, the house and all of the amenities. We made some wonderful memories this week. Marla, Thanks again! This is our 4th straight year coming here and it has been just as great as the 1st time. J. and N. are now 6 years old and they love it here. The house was perfectly set-up for entertaining and relaxing. Had 10 people there, everyone was extremely comfortable, plenty of room. The beach was ideal and had privacy from the road. Loved watching the sunrise over Lake Erie from the hot tub on the large patio in the back! This place exceeded our expectations and we all want come back next again.

We stayed at Golden Gate Cottage in late October 2008. It was great! The beds were very comfortable, fire delightful, and the hot tub was very relaxing! The guys liked playing pool also. Lake Erie is about 5 feet off of the back patio! There was plenty of room for the 8 of us. The cottage was well stocked with toiletries and laundry supplies. Had lots of nice clean towels and sheets. There was a large washer and 2 dryers, so we didn't have to take any dirty laundry home with us. This is just a great place for the family to relax and have good family time on the lake!

We stayed at Golden Gate over Thanksgiving in 2005 for our 50th Anniversary with our family. What a wonderful place! We felt at home immediately. Great atmosphere. Super ambiance with fireplace, hot tub, leather furniture. And so much provided. We are going agin this Thanksgiving. Our children think it is SUPER too.
