We just returned from a great stay at this condo. The place is very well equipped with a great kitchen, large bathrooms for each bedroom, fun bunkbeds in the the kids' room and nice outdoor grilling/hanging out space as well. Our kids loved to go down and play on the golf course each evening before dinner after a long day at the beach. We loved the Mauna Kea beach -- awesome for boogie boarding and sand castle building -- and went on a few hikes and checked out some other nearby beaches as well. We also loved the Mauna Kea luau (Tuesdays and Fridays). The condo is very well situated and a great place to stay. I would definitely recommend this place heartily! One lesson we learned the hard way: if you are thinking of doing the Blue Hawaiian helicopter trip, schedule it early in your vacation -- we waited until the very last day and it was cancelled due to weather. Gives us a great reason to come back soon though!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is the second time we have had the opportunity to stay in this rental on the Big Island and we are already thinking about when we can go back! It's a spacious three bedroom unit with two sets of bunk beds in the third room, making it perfect for two families traveling together, or an extended family traveling together. It's very clean and well appointed - plenty of towels and a well stocked kitchen for families that like to cook. The location is fantastic. You are just above the Mauna Kea and have access to all that offers - the beautiful beach and views! You also have access to the Hapuna Hotel which has an excellent pool for children. The community center at the condominium complex has a spacious pool also with a nice bar-b-que area. There are so many things to do on the Big Island. This time we swam with dolphins, took some great hikes, surfed, snorkeled right out in front of Mauna Kea and of course just enjoyed the sun, sand and surf! This owner is very easygoing and friendly. He checked in with me upon our arrival to see if all was well (it was!) and genuinely wants the experience to go smoothly for the renter. The photos are very true to what the rental unit looks like. It's a find on the Big Island! Don't wait. Book this unit today!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We have rented a few times from VRBO, but this is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would, and we would (will?) definitely rent this unit again. We stayed there for a week in October for a combination work/vacation trip. We had extended family join us, including my elderly father (who has mobility issues). This ground floor unit was perfect for us, and very comfortable for all of us (6 adults and 2 elementary school aged children). The owner of this unit (David) was prompt, friendly, and very easy to communicate with. He answered all my many questions about the unit to help us pack appropriately. The property manager (Gail) was a sweetheart who was attentive and professional (she even went out of her way to mail back a pair of glasses my mom accidentally left behind). The home is beautiful (and the photos do not do it justice). It very large and spacious with a large outdoor space as well, where we barbecued and dined each night (watching the incredible sunset). We appreciated being so close to the Hapuna and Mauna Kea hotels (for work, plus the incredible beaches), which were a long walk, or very short drive away. Since you have club membership, you can park at the Mauna Kea hotel member lot (it is near impossible to find parking otherwise), and enjoy their beach services as any hotel guest would. The beach is so beautiful and not crowded at all and we didn't have to bring towels since they set you up with towels and chairs at both Mauna Kea and Hapuna. The kitchen was very well stocked with many small appliances (rice cookers, slow cooker, blender, toaster) and having the grill was fantastic. We stocked up at Costco by the airport when we arrived, and made short trips to Foodland Farms at Mauna Lani for smaller items. There is also a small but nice local farmer's market in Waimea on Saturday mornings where we found some delicious produce and local jams. There was a large meteor shower on one of the first nights we were there, and we pulled out the patio chairs onto the lawn to lay on for over an hour one night - it was truly magical and I wish I could have recorded the kids saying "wow!" "oooh!" and "cool!" over and over again. Next time :) Thank you so much, David, for sharing your lovely place with our family. It was an incredible trip that we will always remember. We hope to visit again soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I stayed at this beautiful apartment with my husband, my three children of 17 15 13 years and two of their friends. Altough we were a large group, the size of the condo was more than enough. Also the location is very good, in a few minutes by car you can reach the beautiful beaches of Mauna Kea and of the Hapuna Prince. The apartment is clean, quiet, comfortable, spacious and well-furnished,.The kitchen is well equipped and there is magnificent patio with barbecue. The view is really panoramic. During my stay, the owner contacted me to make sure that everithing was perfect and it was!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We love this property. This is the second time we rented the unit. The house has two master suits so it makes it very comfortable to share with another couple and children. The third bedroom with the double bunk beds makes accommodating and fun for the kids to sleep. The unit is beautifully furnished with contemporary furniture which is clean and crisp. One wall of the great room is sliding windows which opens up on to the patio. The view from the patio looks onto the golf course and ocean. Unit A101 has one of the nicest views in that condo complex. There are no other condo building in front of you to obscure your view. We cooked on the nice Wolf barbecue almost very night and enjoyed the view. The condo has state of the art appliances which makes you feel like you are staying at a Four Seasons quality property. The property managers are very helpful when things are needed. A few things in the condo were not working properly and they immediately fixed them while we were at the beach. The beaches in front of the Hapuna and Mauna Kea Hotels are some of the nicest (we’ve been to all the inhabitable islands). No water shoes needed because there are virtually no lava rocks to stub your toe. The water is so warm and sand is white and soft. The waves are small and fun for kids learning to boogie board. This unit has privileges at both hotels. So when you walk through the lobby down to the beach the hotel will set you up with a lounge chair, towels and an umbrella. You can also use the pool and workout facilities at both hotels but I prefer the pool and the Precor fitness equipment which is at the condo community center. Also don’t miss the walking path along the cliffs between the two hotels. The view is amazing. The only downside of this property is that the shuttle service between the condos and the hotels has been discontinued. The walk to the beach is definitely doable in athletic shoes especially since your chair, towel and umbrella is provided. Looking forward to our 3rd visit!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were a group of 12 and were the owners put us in touch with the owners next door so we could have accommodations for all of us. We had two couples and four kids in this unit, which worked out perfectly. We stuck all the cousins (ages 7-3) in the bunk bed room and they loved it! The location is fantastic. You get all of the upside of the Mauna Kea with none of the downside. Would definitely rent again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family and I just returned from a trip to the Big Island where we were lucky enough to have found this condo! It was perfect. We were traveling with another couple and our toddler. The space was more than enough for us to spread out and relax. The Lanai area was amazing. It flowed right into the yard so my 2.5 year old daughter was entertained for hours without the need for much supervision. The views from the two master bedrooms, main living space and the lanai are unbeatable. The condo is loaded with everything you might need, including adult friendly and kid friendly items. I was very pleased to find everything I needed. The pool at the Wai'ula'ula condos is just a short 3 minute walk from the unit. This pool is gorgeous! There is a kiddie pool that is about 12" deep and an adult pool. Most days we were there it was just the 5 of us. Not a lot of competition for pool chairs. We also spent multiple days down at the Hapuna Prince Beach Hotel, which is one of the two hotels you have access too while staying at this condo. This pool and beach were amazing. The pool felt like it was 90 degrees, which made it easy to swim for hours with our daughter. You can rent a cabana down there for $30 to ensure you have a shady place to escape to. The food and drinks at the Costa restaurant are great while you are relaxing and swimming. All in all it was a magical week and I cannot wait to return to this lovely spot. I would absolutely recommend this condo to anyone look for a relaxing get away.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you David and family for allowing us to rent your beautiful. This unit is probably the best location in the development and is perfect for adults and children. What a view! We enjoyed everything about it and have only wonderful things to say. It was luxurious, spacious, well appointed and thoughtful. It was as nice as any five star property. Again many thanks!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We love Hawaii and have stayed at the Mauna Kea Hotel and in condos on Maui and Kauai a number of times. This condo is outstanding. It really is family friendly, but also fine for couples. The space is generous, and the appointments are top notch, which adds to the pleasure of being there. Watching the sunset from this deck is memorable. You have the best beaches on the big island at your disposal and the fitness center is very nearby and not busy. The kiddie pool is great for the small fry, while the bigger pool is nice, but not for laps. Everything worked flawlessly. This place is a real winner, and a good value.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

After my wife spent a lot of time researching accommodations in the area, we chose this - and her research paid off for us big-time. A perfect day here goes like this: You wake up after a restful night of sleep, make a rich brew of 100% Kona, and feel the breeze coming down the mountain. The toughest decision of the day: which beach shall we go to: Hapuna or Mauna Kea? You spend a fun time on whichever beach, whether it is boogie boarding, making sand castles, or just sunbathing. (Mauna Kea seemed to have a bit gentler waves). Then you come back, freshen up, and prepare a meal in the professionally equipped kitchen, with the lanai wide open in front of you. Then you sit down for a late afternoon meal (or early dinner?) and watch the Kohala Coast Sunset Show unfold right in front of your eyes. Ahhh... That very view from the lanai is just out of this world. My description here isn't going to do any justice. You just have to see it for yourself. At night, the view of the stars was just amazing. Having a smartphone app (e.g. SkyMap) is helpful in identifying the handful of planets and plethora of constellations you can see - because there are so many you can see! Our three kids loved the bunk beds and having access to a TV (DVD player only, good call!) in their own room. Practical tips for people coming from the Mainland: * Groceries: The closest "big" grocery store we found was the Foodland in the Mauna Lani resort area. Great selection! Make sure you get a store account there for discounts - you only need a phone number. If you want a larger grocery store, the Island Gourmet grocery store at the Queen's Shops at Waikoloa is perhaps the largest in the area. * Dining: We recommend the Blue Dragon Coastal Cuisine at Kawaihae (the directions on their web site say they are located 1/4 mile from the Hwy19/Hwy270 junction, but it's actually 1-1/4 miles). Jump in right when they open at 5:30PM because it's a popular joint! * Gas: If you are a Costco member, make sure to bring your card - Costco gas is the cheapest on the entire island and is close enough to the airport if you need to refuel before returning your rental car. Some rentacar companies require a receipt issued by a gas station within 10 miles from the Keahole Airport upon return, unless you purchased the fuel option. Overall, we had a marvelous time and stay, and hope to return some day.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

The accommodations were absolutely wonderful! With two families traveling together with 3 kids between us, the combo of rooms and space was perfect. I really appreciate your honest and accurate reflection of the condo on VRBO. Everything was just as promised, and more. Staff at Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea were very helpful, welcoming, and pleasant. Spent most of our time bouncing from beach to beach between Kona and Mauna Kea, and a whole bunch of time sitting at your outdoor table staring at the palm trees and ocean. What a view! Thank you so much for sharing your space with us. If you keep renting, we'll keep staying!!Recommended for: Families with young children

Thanks David, it was just as decribed. As a property owner who also rents through VRBO I believe integrity of the ads placed is very important so that guests can trust what they read and see. Snorkled with the sea turtles at Mauna Kea and boogie boarded at Hapuna Prince beach and somebody else washed the beach towels! Beautiful sun sets, quiet and restfull with all the amenities close by. We will be back, I hope!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I wholeheartedly agree with the positive comments from other reviewers. This condo is extraordinary for families and we took full advantage of the community pool and pools at the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince. The beaches are amazing all along the Kohala Coast and the pools at the hotels and the community are kept very warm. For those with toddlers, there is a baby pool at Wai Ula Ula that is kept at 98 degrees! Perfect for the little ones so they don't get cold. This condo had everything we needed. I loved that the unit was a ground floor unit (I didn't pick up on that in the listing). The girls, aged 4, 6 and 6 loved running around outside looking for lizards and geckos. Of course they loved the bunk beds too. We loved all the sand toys, boogie boards, kayak, etc that are kept in the garage for us to use-- very convenient! We are going to look back on this vacation fondly. I truly believe this unit must be one of the best, if not the best, in the entire complex.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, kids, parents and I spent 8 wonderful nights here. Beautiful, clean, spacious condo with two master suites w/bath, kids room + bath, great outdoor BBQ/dining area and grassy area for the kids to play while we had a drink and watched the sunset. Pictures do NOT do it justice. Resort access to both Hapuna Prince and Mauna Kea, including lounge chairs, towels and pools, make this condo an unbelievable value! Both beaches are extraordinary. We were SOO sad to leave. We just returned from a 9 day family vacation in your lovely condo. It was beautiful - even nicer than the pictures. It was very comfortable for my husband and I, and our daughter's family of 4. The management couldn't have been more accommodating. It was like staying at a 5 star hotel. The pool area was beautiful and the snorkeling at the Mauna Kea beach was the best we found. All 6 of us had a memorable family vacation and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to my friends. My days of staying in a stuffy hotel are over. I have used VRBO before and have never been disappointed but this condo is tops on my list. Calling it a condo does not do it justice because it is truly in every way a home away from home. We were able to cook the fresh fish that we caught on a fishing trip with Sea Wife charters on the beautiful bbq in the backyard. ( I will have to get this bbq for home now.... he got spoiled with this one lol) The location made it very easy to get around from Hilo to Captain Cook. When I return to the Big Island I hope to stay here again. Thank you so much Denise and family ps I spoke to many owners before I decided which condo to rent and as I did, you will learn the difference between one that wants your money and one that is sharing their home and life.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a great condo. Very light and airy and tastefully decorated. Excellent view of the ocean from the patio. It has all the amenities, including gas BBQ, garage, washer/dryer and DVD player. We have two small kids and they loved the bunk beds. The pool area at the rec center was fantastic - very relaxing and serene. It was a huge bonus to have access to the beach and pool at the Mauna Kea and the Hapuna Prince, which are both in relatively close proximity to the condo. Perhaps the nicest surprise was dealing with the condo owner. Very friendly, easygoing, helpful and responsive. He made what was already a positive experience that much better. We highly recommend this condo!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

It was a wonderful trip. Your condominium is perfect in every way!We loved the layout of the dual master bedrooms and the large kids room. The furniture, the artwork, the linens, and all the small touches - the complete cooking tools, the beach towels & toys, the Hawaii books, etc. - perfect. Loved the appliances and BBQ. It was one of the best trips we have ever taken. Our children said it best - not only the best trip ever, but the best time they have EVER had. Property manangement was kind, answered all of our questions, keys, codes, passes, etc. all in order and as described and overall good business transaction. We look forward to a return trip and give our highest recommedation to others who may consider the same. The club house was superb after a great day at the beach, chosing some nights to bbq there was amazing!!!! Cheers Dave!!!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
