Lakefront Paradise: Beautiful Views and Walk to the Village
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Located within two to three blocks to the center of The Village and just a five-minute drive to the Snow Summit Ski Lifts. Everything you will need is within close proximity once you land at this resort-like vacation rental. In the summer you can swim, boat, fish and sight-see from your own backyard. In the winter you can go skiing (alpine or cross-country), snowboarding, sledding/tubing and enjoy the beautiful snow. This is lakefront at a fraction of the cost of renting lakefront.
This beautiful lakefront condo is one of three units in a triplex. It was built in 1977 and the given name of the complex is: Lake Chalets. The name of our unit is: Lakefront Retreat. There are two buildings on the lot. The 1st building facing the street has garages and a unit above. The rear building has two units. Our unit is the top floor of the rear building, which has no shared walls and a huge deck with unobstructed lake views.
The two-story condo feels much more like a private home than a condo; there are no hallways to get lost in and it is very private. It has cathedral ceilings and tudor details. This does not feel like a condo or a triplex; it is much more private and feels like a cabin. The lot is over 9000 square feet sitting 'on' the lake. There is plenty of room for activities while waiting for your next boat ride/water ski, your next big catch, snow play or simply watching the boats come and go from the nearby, adjacent marina.
Bedding Configuration: The master BR has a queen-size platform bed featuring a down comforter with duvet plus down pillows with high thread count linens. The master features its own large closet with remote color 20-inch TV with DirecTV and DVD player. It also has end tables with lamps, alarm clock and antique armoire for storage of all additional linens, towels and blankets.
The second bedroom has a queen-size bed with down comforter and duvet plus down pillows 'and' a matching bunk bed separated by an end table with lamp and alarm clock. A modest stackable washer/dryer is in the closet for easy storage and access.
The third and fourth bedrooms are dual lofts separated by its’ own bathroom on the second floor. Each loft is open, with no walls, and has two full beds sleeping four total in the loft area. By the textbook real estate definition, these are not actual bedrooms. There is a closet in the bathroom and a hanging rack in the hallway. Drawers for clothes should be kept under the bed; each bed has three drawers under it.
Living Room: 40-inch Flat Screen TV with DirecTV, wireless internet (airport and ethernet), mac computer and DVD player. Enjoy a crackling fire in the rock fireplace on our comfortable ultra suede sectional couch.
Deck: Just off the Kitchen sits the Deck, that includes views of tall pine trees and clear skies for stargazing or snowfall. Enjoy the sunset from the sit-down views, while melting away the stresses and strains of everyday life.
Backyard: Oversized and huge, the backyard has room for any outdoor activity you can think of including, in the winter, making snow angels in the snow-covered backyard which lies just a few steps down from your own shared dock.
Kitchen: Fully-equipped kitchen with travertine floors, dishes and settings for 12 persons, and all appliances - oven/range for big meals, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, coffee maker and a steak knife set for your steak dinners. With amazing views of the lake through the sliding windows above the sink, and all kitchen utensils, pots and pans - you'll be hard pressed to find a better-stocked kitchen.

Wow, what a great place! Waterfront, huge yard for kids to play in, fishing, walking distance to the village, this place has it all. The huge deck has a spectacular view of the lake that will make you just plop down in a chair and stare at the scenery for hours...even at night. Now, the item that really made my trip AWESOME is the Weber charcoal BBQ on the deck. I've been grilling with gas for last 10 years so I was a little worried that I may have lost my touch when it comes to charcoal grilling but, after tasting my lemon, olive oil, and oregano rib-eyes, I knew that a charcoal grill is in my near future. (I did swing by OSH on the way home to pick one up but OSH was having a sale and they were all out of that model...unbelievable. They were nice enough to give me a rain check.) Anywho, the condo was so nice, my kids didn't want to leave and made me promise to bring them back to THIS unit. My wife raved about it as well and she's a tough critic. And that my friends was all gravy.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Overall this property was stellar and perfect for the needs of our small group. The view from the gigantic sliding doors was always entertaining and crowded with wonderful wildlife. We saw coots, mergansers, an eagle, a fox, a great blue heron and a collection of lesser ducks and birds. It's a wonderful location for strolling and for getting into the village. It had a garage which was handy as it snowed and kept our vehicle clean. Minor inconveniences were that their computer did not connect to the internet - however, the wireless did work. The dishes are not microwave safe. Seating is somewhat uncomfortable, but the beds were super comfortable and the bedding was plentiful and warm. We would not hesitate to stay there again!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

Outside: The front and sides were gated which made it safer for the kids and dog as long as we stood watch on the lakeside. Large backyard had plenty of snow for the kids to sled and build snowmen. Private and unobstructed lakefront resulted in some amazing views and pictures. Inside: Cosy and have a great cabin feeling. All appliances worked and sleeping conditions were fine. Heater worked well to warm up the whole complex. Overall: For the price, its hard to beat a better value. Location is prime; Snow Summit resort was about 10 minute drive; The village is walking distance away. ; lake is your backyard.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We definitely recommend this lakefront condo, the views are amazing and it's rustic charm is just what you would expect in Big Bear. The location is great and it would be perfect for all seasons of the year. The owner answered all my questions via email, usually within minutes. The condo was perfect for the amount of people and our dog. We had a great time and there was plenty of room for our family (7 adults), we definitely plan on renting this condo again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I can't image a better location for a relaxing time; with a beautyful view of the lake, and close proximity to the village. The description and pictures don't do it justice. Once you're on the deck or looking through the wall of glass at the lake which is right at the edge of the property, you'll understand what I mean. The Lakefront Retreat condo is truly the perfect setting for vacationer's who want to take part in all the activities Big Bear has to offer; or for those who just want a quiet, peaceful, and/or romantic getaway. I would love to visit again. Contacting the owner was easy. Our security deposit was refunded quickly, and we were able to bring our dogs!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This place exceeded our expectations. This cabin is perfect for any visit to Big Bear because of the location. It is right on the lake and a quick walk to downtown. There is a big yard that has a fence so it would be a great place for children. The place is clean and well maintained. The price is very fair for the size and accommodations.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
