Great house for a large family gathering. Great ambiance, nice location, the bedrooms are a good size. the downside...the cleaning before we arrived was not great. One bedroom, the sheets weren't changed and we had to do laundry before we could use the bed, there was someones clothing left in the drawers. One bed had no sheets, good thing we brought a sleeping bag. We moved the sofa in the living room and it was very dirty underneath. The carpets are terribly stained and smell.
Owner response:The previous rental was 4 weeks prior on US Thanksgiving weekend (9th year in a row for those particular guests). The house was thoroughly cleaned and all beds were changed. It's possible that sheets on one of the beds may have been wrinkled and that the reviewer didn't realize they were clean. There are indeed a couple of stains on the carpet in a couple of rooms from people over the years spilling things that simply won't come out - area rugs were placed over two spots, but must've been moved. The carpets, however, are clean and do not smell. The living room has hardwood floors and an area rug; dust bunnies are a fact of life in a big house that can sit for weeks between rentals, but the cleaners have been asked to do a better job at moving furniture when vacuuming to minimize this problem and to check all drawers for clothing, which they normally do and which they normally find on a regular basis. I note that the reviewer nevertheless gave the home 4/5 stars.
