Hale Honu, meaning "Home of the Turtle", is a charming 1 bedroom, 1 bath Guest Cottage, which is part of a gated estate home on the water. The cottage is quiet, private, casually elegant, completely remodeled and upgraded in 2008 and continuous improvements in 2009. It is on a 9100 square foot lot on Mokuleia Beach in secluded Waialua/Mokuleia. This is the most requested vacation rental on the island of Oahu for a romantic getaway for 2 people (maximum).
Our cottage is just steps to the sand, with full ocean frontage views, and includes full kitchen, quartzite floors, cement countertops, and Sub Zero Refrigerator/Freezer, Fisher& Paykel Dish Drawers, Viking Gas Range/Oven and separate laundry. Wi-Fi enabled and Satellite receivers/recorders and TV's in all rooms.
Life doesn't get much better than a secluded beachfront cottage which will become your "true hawaii" oasis. Sound of the waves will provide tranquility to you from every room in the Cottage. Please read our unsolicited Guest Comments and then decide for yourself and email/call Pat.
Note from Pat: Oceanside mossrock pool with deep blue ceramic tile was recently completed. It is a salt water system so the water is very soft and luxurious and void of the harsh chemicals in most pools. You will love the feel of the pool after a day here on the North Shore....and you will be able to sit and watch the Pacific Ocean/beach while being in the pool.
Hono (Turtle) video of our ohana (family) of turtles is under development. This ohana is directly in our front yard ("the beach") and we are very happy to have them with us 12 months of the year. They are federally protected and endangered Hawaiian Sea Green Turtles. You will love them! Video forthcoming in February 2009! Also coming in February 2009-new Plasma TV's with HDTV programming in both Living Room and Master Bedroom!

Completely furnished with top of the line materials including quartzite flooring, subzero, koa furniture, leather sofa and loveseat, moss rock walls for complete privacy, custom gates, steps to sandy beach which is quiet, secluded and off the beaten path. This is a no-traffic area and the canopy of stars in the evening will be breathtaking. Watch towin surfing, when available, whales, turtles, local fishermen and ever present trade winds 95% of the year. No parties are permitted as owners (Pat/Jan) live on property with Maile, a 6 year old Australian Silky Terrier and our new Silky Rescue, Sachi, who just turned 1. Come check our website for our Honu (Turtle) video as we have an Ohana (family) of Honu with us year round in the front yard (i.e. the "beach").

Dear Pat and Jan, Our time in your wonderful home has been way too short. We are not excited about leaving paradise and heading back to work and reality. Thanks for all of your fabulous hospitality. Being able to surf right out front was great! The BBQ, the Outdoor Shower, your Bicycles, etc all contributed to a very special holiday for us. You must know that we ill be back as soon as possible! Pat and Jan, We've had two wonderful weeks in Oahu, largely in part to staying at your beautiful beach cottage. We loved listening to the waves as fell asleep. The sunsets were amazing to watch in your backyard beach.....,especially with sea turtles play all around. Thank you so much for creating such a beautiful and comfy (and spacious!) beach cottage. It truly surpassed all of our expectations, with all of the comforts of home and more! We really enjoyed using the snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach noodles beach chairs. Pat and Jan- If I could have picked any place to stay on Oahu, I have found the best right here! Great Owners, perfect doggy friends, wonderful views and very relaxing. Thanks for all of the recommendations--we loved Grass Skirt Grill and House Without a Key. THe Waialua Farmer's Market was a great place to pick up all the local tems to experiment with! LOL When I am back at my desk, I'll be closing my eyes and picturing the patio, sounds of your ocean and the beautiful skies. Mahalo (a hundred times) and we'll definitely be planning a trip again! Pat, Jan and "the girls" (Maile and Sachi), Thanks for a fabulous week! This is the first time we have stayed away from the resort hotels in Hawaii and we loved it! We cannot put into words how gorgeous this place is---just as advertised! I feel sorry for people who pay $$$ to snorkel with the sea turtles when all we had to do is walk out your front door to be surrounded by them. What a wonderful, relaxing way to experience Hawaii--we are hooked! It was also nice to have our daily visits from your girls---made us miss our dogs back home just a smidge less than usual---thanks again for everything. We had a lovely stay! Dear Pat, What a lovely retreat you have here! Your generousity of spirit, as well as the attention to detail with every luxury, makes this a no-stress escape. Sitting out on the deck looking at the ocean, BBQ'ing by the tiki torch light, swimming along the beach, looking at the turtles, being 15 minutes from Haleiwa but having peace and quiet (no traffic!), all of these things were terrific. Appreciated that the place was completely equipped with good cooking gear and when we needed a stick of butter or some foil for grilling, you were here and able to help. What I really appreciated was that there was nothing we needed that wasn't here--snorkel gear, kayaks, beach chairs, mats, towels, coffee grinder and coffee maker--all we needed was food! Thanks again for your warmth and hospitality. The dogs (Maile and Sachi) were great too---they were very sweet and fun! Aloha, Karen

Dear Pat, Jan, Maile ("Wise One") and Sachi ("Happy One"), What a perfect spot to rest, relax and recharge! Your home is beautiful and you have thought out each detail to make this a "slice of paradise"! Thank you for sharing your lives and your home with us to make a peaceful and memorable stay. I felt like I could breathe deeper just entering your courtyard. I could feel my shoulders dropping and my body relaxing to the tune of the shore. I am very sad to be leaving but i know this is not forever. I believe our paths will cross again! By the way, the snorkeling was superb! No need to travel any further than out the front gate, a few steps from our Front Door! Grass Skirt Grill was our favorite spot to eat! All of your recommendations were spot on---thanks Pat and Jan! The setup you have here is put together so tastefully and thoughtfully and no detail is left out! The only thing I might add is a personal "Sachi" for Guests to have home with them! She was abandoned by a very young military family who had so many complications personally and medically. Little Sachi is thriving here and loves every single moment with Guests (when invited.....) and battles for attention with Maile (our 6 year old Silky). Sachi is entered now in AKC Dog Shows while Maile continues her work with theatre, TV and printed magazines and professional journals.
