Hale Honu, meaning "Home of the Turtle", is a charming 1 bedroom, 1 bath Guest Cottage, which is part of a gated estate home on the water. The cottage is quiet, private, casually elegant, completely remodeled and upgraded with continuous improvements every year. It is on a 9100 square foot lot on Mokuleia Beach in secluded Waialua/Mokuleia. This is the one of the most requested vacation rentals on the island of Oahu for a romantic getaway for 2 people (maximum).
Our cottage is just steps to the sand, with full ocean frontage views, and includes full kitchen, quartzite floors, cement countertops, and Sub Zero Refrigerator/Freezer, Fisher& Paykel Dish Drawers, Viking Gas Range/Oven and separate laundry. Secure Wi-Fi enabled and Satellite receivers/recorders and HD TV's in all rooms.
Life doesn't get much better than this secluded beachfront cottage which will become your "true hawaii" oasis. The sound of the waves will provide tranquility to you from every room in the Cottage. Please read our unsolicited Guest Comments and then decide for yourself and email/call Pat.
Note from Pat: Oceanside mossrock pool with deep blue ceramic tile was recently completed. It is a salt water system so the water is very soft and luxurious and void of the harsh chemicals in most pools. You will love the feel of the pool after a day here on the North Shore....you can sit in the pool and watch the Pacific Ocean/beach.
Hono (Turtle) video of our ohana (family) of turtles is under development. This ohana is directly in our front yard ("the beach") and we are very happy to have them with us 12 months of the year. You are sure to fall in love with our federally protected and endangered Hawaiian Sea Green Turtles. Our Guests never want to leave the Guest Cottage or our property as your comfort is our #1 focus.

This truly was the perfect place to ring in the New Year! And thank you for leaving your Christmas tree up----it reminded us of what time of year it was....as it is so easy to get swept away in time as in a paradise lost sort of thing. Heidi and Eric's descriptions of this amazing place didn't really do it justice and (as they said): "no words can possibly describe the sights, sounds, and tastes of Hawaii". They had to bring us here! Your place is 2nd to none. It is so beautiful and roomy...

MAHALO NUI LOA! What a wonderful place to come to and relax. Loved coffee in the morning with Terry listening to the waves crashing before everyone else woke up. You home was just what the doctor ordered. Took advantage of the wonderful outdoor shower EVERYDAY. Picked up some sort of treasure on every walk on the beach. One day we had a turtle lay right across our path. Somehow we missed the other nine that came out to sun themselves on the walk down the beach. We counted their tracks.... Loved our trip to the "secret beach" just down the way. We had it all to ourselves. We loved meeting you and your house and your hospitality was exactly the way Terry and Stacie described it to us. Thank you again for sharing it with us. Everything was absolutely phenomenal! Mele Kalikimaka! Dave, Lynette, Nole and Stephanie Rockford, Illinois

J and P, The bittersweet moment has come to put our thoughts on paper.... While looking through this book, I can only say, it has all been said before.....Our own experiences were parallel to othersand is by far too short. Our highlights for the week include: - Snorkeling at Shark's Cove -Grass Skirt Grill Ahi Plate -Waimea Valley and Falls -....a double-rainbow! :) We enjoyed our daily visits with the girls, Maile and Sachi, the turtles and course, both of you! We hop to return sometime for a much longer stay. Until then, we wish the best for you! Aloha and Mahalo! A and T C Michigan

Dear P and J, Our 2 week stay in your beautiful home is now coming to an end. Your home exceeded all of our expectations: the Outdoor Shower, comfortable beds, every amenity imaginable and the bonus of both a private pool and the ocean immediately outside our door. We could not get enough of the turtles and were fortunate enough to see a large turtle take an afternoon nap on the sand! Amazing! This was the perfect spot for B and I's 50th Anniversary! We are all sad to leave, but will have very fond memories of your home and our vacation! Mahalo to both of you!

What can Gary and I say differently from all of your other Guests? I can't think of a better place to have spent our 50th Anniversary! The accommodations, the view and the two of you are all spectacular. I may be leaving this beautiful North Shore but I am leaving my HEART here. I will have to return again to check on it. I feel like I am saying good-bye to my Sisters and my furry Nieces (Maile and Sachi). Maile and Sachi are adorable and will we miss you all. Thank you so much for opening your home to us, we will remember you with love. Mahalo and aloha, for now, Carolyn and Gary Big Bear and Walnut, California

Where to begin? I write this looking out at the ocean contemplating the WONDERFUL time we've had over the past couple of weeks. You have a SPECTACULAR property here and your PRIDE of OWNERSHIP really shows. This was the PERFECT spot for us to celebrate a long year. From falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the beach to enjoying leisurely morning coffee on the deck chairs out back, to grilling tasty meals on the BBQ to "getting on island time (neither of us wore a watch while we were here!), we have loved every minute of our time here. After spending several past vacations in Waikiki, our time here was 10 times more relaxing and we are certainly converted! No more hotels for us! We absolutely cannot wait to be back (soon we hope!) With your busy lives, thank you for taking the time to share your beautiful home in paradise with those of who need a special place to come to. It was wonderful to get to know you and we look forward to keeping in touch! Let us know if you're ever in Calgary-we'd love to take you cross-country skiing! Happy memories of this place will keep us warm during the upcoming winter months back home. We look forward to seeing you again soon.... Much alove, Laura and Robin Calgary Canada P.S. Highlights of the trip/recommendations for other Guests: -the outdoor shower" sudsing up" while looking at the ocean = priceless! -grilling our own fresh fish -relaxing with a book in the backyard -bike touring around Waialua and Haleiwa -surf lessons and paddle boarding with Uncle Bryan -coconut shrimp at the Grass Skirt Grill -Waimea Beach Park-beautiful beach! Note from Pat: Laura and Rob are an adorable couple. Rob is a 3 time Olympian Cross Country Skier and is a Mortgage Broker in Calgary. I think i might just be somewhat intimidated to go cross-crountry skiing with him! He routinely ran 8-15 miles every day. A real sweetheart. Laura just became a member of the Canadian Bar Association and is a gem! Smart, beautiful, peaceful, articulate, caring: a real doll. Thank you Jennifer for sending Laura and Rob to us! Much aloha....we miss you this weekend! Pat

Dear Pat and Jan, Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home here in Waialua. It was great to get away from everything and enjoy a peaceful and relaxing vacation. Your home was well equipped with everything. We loved just hearing the ocean and taking time to enjoy God's beauty here. Thanks again for making our first trip to Hawaii such a special trip. Many thanks, Jeff and Lesley Norris Mansfield, Texas For future Visitors here are our Top 5 Favorite Things: - Waimea Bay: visit the Falls - Driving along the coast - Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC): I think, however, next time we will try a smaller luau - Kayaking and Snorkeling - Taking a shower outside and watching the ocean from Pat's home - Grass Skirt Grill was wonderful too! Note from Pat: Is there any such thing as a "small luau on Island"?! Ha....LOL

Dear Pat and Jan, So much to write and so little space. We dreamed of this vacation since we married 10 years ago. Mahalo, Mahalo, Mahalo for turning our dream into a reality. I'll never be content with showering indoors again! A week here is not long enough to quench our thirst for the North Shore. Your attention to detail here has not gone unnoticed. It truly has all the comforts of home. You are right. I should have brought ONLY a few t-shirts, shorts, a swimsuit and nothing else. After shopping, eating out, swimming with sharks and attending a luau and show, it felt wonderful each evening to be able to come "home". Hopefully, next time, Michael and I can spend more time with you, Jan, Maile and Sachi. We envy the "hang loose" attitude of the North Shore. We're going to take it back home and see how it goes :) Much love from Hollis, Oklahoma Michael and Shelly Mefford Note from Pat: Mike and Shelly are an adorable couple from Oklahoma (my first set of Guests from OK!) They were in awe of the natural beauty here in the Islands from the moment they stepped through the front custom gates of the property. They have 2 young children at home and have not had a chance to get away time for themselves. Thank you both for traveling all the way here to meet and stay with us! You will keep a piece of our lifestyle with you each and every day in your soul and heart. The trades, surf, turtles and fresh air will always be with you. Much aloha and A Hui Hou (Until Next Time), Pat
