This cute, cozy, cottage home is located in a quiet residential area of San Luis Obispo. Email us for rates and availability.

Comfortably furnished and decorated. Open living room with cathedral ceilings, gas fireplace, and big-screen TV. Spacious dining area opens to newly redone kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Sliding glass doors open up to a large outdoor patio for outdoor entertaining. Three bedrooms. Master bedroom has private bathroom with walk-in shower, and good separation from the other two bedrooms.
World Famous Farmer’s Market

Downtown SLO comes alive at 6pm on Thursday nights. Typically 3 bands and one children-oriented program are performing all night long. Lots of good food, including several great BBQ vendors, as well as Asian, Italian and Mexican food. Over 30 farmers have their produce and flowers on sale, and other vendors offer their wares. Four blocks on Higuera Street in the heart of SLO are closed to vehicles until 9 pm so market goers can saunter through all the stalls and entertainment venues.

Wine Tasting

From the house you can visit 7 wineries by doing a 5 mile loop through the vineyards (Bailyana, Ortman, Sausalito Canyon, Domaine Alfred, Edna Valley, Wolf and Tolosa). These labels consistently produce wines rated in the low 90s and high 80s at reasonable prices. Many of them have nice outside seating areas where you can enjoy beautiful views of the vineyards and surrounding hills while having a glass or bottle of wine and snacks.

There are over 20 wineries within 10 miles of the house. Talley, located 8 miles away in Arroyo Grande, has had its wines served frequently at the White House for the last 15 years. Take Tank Farm to Orcut (see above) and continue past Domaine Alfred until Ocrut dead ends. Turn left at the dead end, and left again in about ¼ mile to the Talley winery.

Other tasting rooms near the house include Kinsey, Peachy Canyon, Clairborne & Churchhill, Sextant and Windemer. And of course, there are a lot more up the Cuesta Grade (101 North) in Paso Robles and the surrounding areas.

Hiking

A half mile from the house is the ¾ mile trail up Islay Peak. You climb 600 feet on a well marked trail to spectacular 360 view of the Edna Valley, distant Oceano Dunes, Laguna Lake, and the ocean past Morro Bay (glimpsing the top of Morro Rock) and all the surrounding mountains.

Nearby hikes include Bishops Peak, Madonna Mountain, and several inside beautiful Montona De Oro State Park (free, 20 minutes away with beach, bluff and mountain hikes).


Beaches

There are a number of beaches within 10 to 20 minute drives from the house:

Port San Luis: Great place to have a bon-fire in the permanent fire rings. .

Oceano: drive your car right onto the beach and pick a place to spend a few hours

Pismo: Popular surf and boogie boarding spot on both sides of the pier. Lots of shops, surf shops, and eateries in the 3 block area near the pier.

Avila: protected from the wind, often one of the nicest and warmest beaches. Usually there are very small waves in the protected bay, making it great place to take young children.

Morro Bay-Cayucos: several nice surf spots and five miles of beaches, most of it with no development nearby for a very serene experience.

San Simeion: Beautiful, serene beach and bay 1 mile from Hearst Castle.

Wetsuits, surfboards, boogie boards and kayaks are available for rent at several locations.


Giant Sand Dunes

Easily accessible in Los Osos/Montona De Oro, these 100 foot tall dunes are spectacular to see up close and fun to slide down on. Easiest access is to get on Los Osos Valley Road in SLO, follow it all the way through the hamlet of Los Osos and in to Mondona De Oro State Park (free). One of the first parking areas on the right is marked for sand dune access.


Dune Buggy/ATV riding

Oceano Dunes is THE premier beach riding location for off-road riding on sand dunes. Rentals ATVs are available.


Parks

The closest park is just 2 blocks away. It includes 1 tennis court, horseshoe pit, beach Volleyball court, basketball court, and lots of open grass for casual walks or exercising dogs. Another similar park with the same amenities is just a 1/3 mile up the road.

Tennis

Open to the public courses are all over town, including one just 2 blocks away at French Park and another 1/3 of a mile away at Islay Park.

Golf

There are numerous public courses within 15 miles of the house, many are very nice, with great ocean or nature views, typically with greens fees under $50. There is a 3 par 9 hole course in SLO (4 miles from house - Laguna), Dairy Creek on the northern edge of town (5 miles) and nearby courses in Avila Beach, Morro Bay, and Nipomo.


Mountain Biking

There are several trails, most of them with good climbs in undeveloped areas, nearby. These are not beginner trails – but provide great workouts and views for the enthusiast. Art’s Cyclery on Osos St. is a good source for info.


Bike Trails

There is one nice trail about 4 miles long near Avila Beach called the Bob Jones Trail. Lots of people also road bike on Highway 1 and some of the rural roads. We don’t because cars are moving by very fast just a few feet from the bike lanes, but clearly lots of people don’t mind this.


Shopping

A Vons, CVS Pharmacy, Starbucks and several restaurants are at the shopping center 3 blocks from the house (Broad/Tank Farm)
