Toms Falls Cottage (circa 1890 Homestead) - Blue Ridge Mountains Cottage Rental Your nostalgic mountain getaway in Western North Carolina's majestic Blue Ridge Mountains and beautiful Hickory Nut Gorge. Sleeps two to five. Perfect romantic escape for two! TOMS FALLS COTTAGE is a story book cottage! Steeped in history, TOMS FALLS COTTAGE is the oldest house on Toms Mountain. Lovingly restored in 2006, the quaint charm of the original homestead has been carefully preserved while 21st century amenities were introduced for your comfort. (New furniture.. except for some antiques, new bedding, complete new kitchen..stove, refrigerator, built in microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot, toaster...all new kitchen cabinets, sinks, etc. as well as a washer and dryer, and yes, WE SUPPLY THE LINENS AND TOWELS! Immaculately clean and charming! The expansive living room with its bead board ceiling and walls features the ambience of its wood burning fireplace. A second fireplace, located in the kitchen, has been converted from wood to a convenient remote controlled heat producing electric log. Toms Falls Cottage has CENTRAL HEAT AND AIR as well. (There is a queen sofa bed downstairs and a full bath downstairs. Rollaway bed downstairs can sleep the 5th person! Upstairs has bedroom with queen bed and bath with jacuzzi tub) As you make your way up the original rustic stairway to your bedroom you can sense the feeling of days gone by. At the top of the stairs the warmth of the bedroom is evident from the decor of the era. A narrow passageway leads you from your bedroom, with queen bed, to your spacious garden bath which was originally used as a storage space above the kitchen, accessible previously only by ladder through a small ceiling "scuttle hole." The attic area which sat dormant for over 115 years, now features a romantic jacuzzi tub with the backdrop and charm of the old stone chimney. If part of your stay includes "relaxing" then we suggest you put in some rocking chair time on your front porch listening to the rushing, but tranquil sound of Toms Creek passing you and time by. Also there is a bubbly stream next to the house! Or for the more adventurous, "take a hike" up the mountainside, behind the cottage on the 21 secluded acres, and enjoy North Carolina flora and fauna including giant cedars, poplar, mountain laurels, and rhododendrons.
