Whale Vista lets you enjoy a close-up, captivating view of the ever-changing ocean activities. From the spacious decks or a plush living room chair you can relax and watch a sleek Coast Guard cutter ride the waves, grab the binoculars and spy on the pelicans, sea gulls and occasional sea otter feeding just beyond the rocky shore, or gasp in awe as a huge whale flips its tail and rolls against the rocks below! Get up early and you’ll see boat after boat charge through the harbor channel and head for open water. A little later in the day, you can wave to the whale watchers and fishermen as they return from the sea.
While Whale Vista fronts a quiet residential street, all the fun and excitement of the harbor and downtown Depoe Bay are just a couple blocks away! So it’s an easy stroll to any of Depoe Bay’s charming eateries, gift shops and galleries. From Whale Vista it's a quick walk to world-famous Gracie's Sea Hag (don't miss the show when the wait-staff makes beautiful music by playing the liquor bottles adorning the antique bar!) Or stroll down to the seawall to see the world-famous spouting horn!
Whale Vista sleeps 6-8 guests very comfortably. All bedrooms are oceanfront with breathtaking panoramic views. The first floor bedroom provides direct access to the oceanfront deck, where you can build a cozy fire in the chimnea, then sit quietly, listen to the bell buoy and watch as mysterious ships pass silently across the horizon. This cozy bedroom also offers a comfortable sitting area to curl up and read a good book. And the warm, antique décor is anything but the typical ‘beach house blues.’ A full bath is just steps away.
The second floor master bedroom (oceanfront king-size bed, cozy sitting area, TV/DVD) adjoins a warm, spacious master bath. Also on the second floor is a "studio" bedroom featuring a queen-size bed, TV/VCR, microwave oven, sink and small refrigerator. A private deck offers spectacular panoramic views and a glimpse of the "spouting horn" whenever she blows. This is the perfect room when you want to hibernate and watch a good movie or kick back in a lounge chair and take in a magnificent sunset or a powerful ocean storm.
The living room at Whale Vista provides a panoramic view of the rocky shores and crashing waves of Depoe Bay. In décor the key word is comfort. An artful blending of antiques and just plain comfortable furnishings combine to create a space where you will relax and feel right at home. A gas fireplace provides warmth and ambiance. The TV/DVD provides handy ‘home entertainment.’
An eclectic collection of antique lamps, overstuffed armchairs, a comfortable queen sleeper sofa and an abundance of intriguing area rugs, pillows and throws make this the perfect space for you and your guests to indulge in your favorite drinks and hors d’oeuvres, a good book, a good laugh or intimate conversation with the spectacular Pacific Ocean as your backdrop.
The kitchen is compact yet provides everything you need to prepare any meal, from a bacon-and-eggs breakfast to a full course seafood feast. The dining area is beautifully decorated and furnished with seating for four to six. Of course, there’s plenty of additional seating oceanfront on the ocean-side decks and a sheltered brick courtyard provides a cozy setting for dining al fresco just outside the kitchen door.

Why the Owner Chose Depoe Bay
I love this house and I love being right in Depoe Bay. It's an easy walk (even with 7 grandchildren ages 3 to 9!) down to the marina to catch a whale watching boat or go for breakfast at Gracie's Sea Hag or to see the spouting horn shoot up over the road. The kids favorite thing to do!) And there's all kinds of stuff for everyone to do--from fishing to antiqueing to golf and eating out.
The Unique Benefits at this House
While I'm a fun-loving, 'people person,' I also like my privacy. I love that Whale Vista is very private and quiet (except for the crashing waves) yet is just a short walk to everything that downtown Depoe Bay has to offer.

There are two things I love more than life itself: decorating vintage homes and spending time on the spectacular Oregon coast. So when life offered me the opportunity to own a vintage home right on the ocean's edge, I just couldn't resist. Of course, I love my three grown sons, their wives and children, too, and we all love getting together at Whale Vista for special occasions or for no special reason at all. I have enjoyed furnishing Whale Vista with an eclectic assortment of antiques and vintage lamps that offer comfort as well as beauty. I hope, if you come to stay, you will take away memories you will cherish for years to come.
