The Yellow Cottage of La Jolla is a charming historic Victorian cottage, only three blocks from a semi-private beach, and a three minute drive to the well known La Jolla Shores.
Built in 1895 as a summer vacation home, the cottage was renovated by a local historian and her husband in 1980. The cottage has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens magazine and many other papers and periodicals. It has only recently become available as a vacation/corporate relocation rental.
The Yellow Cottage is a beautiful example of period renovation combined with modern convenience. The home is bright and cheery with comfortable furnishings.
The Yellow Cottage has a beautifully landsaped yard area with huge grassy area perfect for a game of catch or kickball. The outdoor dining area, gas barbecue and outdoor fireplace are other amenities that encourage guests to enjoy the yard area. The home's picturesque front porch complete with rocking chairs, and private deck off the dining room, provide wonderful morning and afternoon locations to enjoy the Southern California sun. The Yellow Cottage is only a two minute walk to Sea Lane Beach, a scenic beach used mainly by locals. This is a great spot to enjoy a glorious sunset, dine on the sand, or swim in the refreshing ocean.
Nearby are the world famous San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Wild Animal Park, Legoland, Balboa Park, Seaport Village, Carlsbad Flower Fields and Coronado Island. About 1/2 mile from The Yellow Cottage is the public La Jolla Tennis Club and Recreation Center. Almost every evening and on weekends, locals engage in "pick-up" games at the Recreation Center basketball courts. Summer programs (i.e. Day Camps) for children are available daily. The Recreation Center also houses a gym for adults and a playground for children. Scuba diving at the La Jolla Cove Natural Reserve, surfing at the many La Jolla beaches, and kayaking at the La Jolla Shores are other activities locals and visitors enjoy. |
