Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
We like small-town feel of the Island. There are no fast food or any other “chain businesses” on the island. There are many outdoor cafes, specialty shops, boutiques and even a live community theater within a short walk from the house. The hustle and bustle of a big city or a metropolitan area, however, is only minutes away (in case we ever miss it!).
The Unique Benefits at this House
There are a number of special surprises awaiting you in the Venice area, Venetian Waterway Park, minutes from the house, is a great place to bike or walk and runs along the Intracoastal Waterway. You can find many activities within a short drive or walk, whether you like shopping in the unique stores of the downtown Venice Main Street or prefer golfing, boating, fishing, or just laying on the beach. Venice Beach is only 0.8 miles from the house and is a local favorite, it is a large public beach with free parking, concessions, lifeguards, restrooms, picnic tables and showers.

My wife & I live in Pennsylvania. We are planning to retire in the next few years. We bought our vacation home in 2006. When we retire, we are planning to spend the winter months in Venice and summer months in PA. Because of our jobs, we can only vacation during summer. We have never been in Venice in Jan, Feb, Mar but we heard it is very nice!

Ian and Jill. March 2010

This was our third rental house in Venice and without doubt the best, not only for its location (five minute stroll to the shops of Venice Avenue) but also its facilities, all accurately described on the web page. A couple of very minor problems were sorted immediately after phoning the very helpful and friendly owners. We chose the coldest and wettest March for many years! However the house was cosy, well equipped, very spacious and no problem at all to spend time in. Also the new pool heat pump was well up to the job, keeping the pool at a very pleasant temperature despite night time temperatures dropping into the 40's and daytime temps only reaching the low 70's. Ian swam every day ... even in the rain! Well worth the heating charge unless staying in the Floridian summer months! The security enabled broadband internet was very reliable and also very fast. There is a comprehensive list of restaurants (not all local) in the property with menus to suit all tastes. We agree with the owners that Barnacle Bill's (the one in Sarasota, not the one on Tamiami Trail) is very good. We also liked Snook Haven (at the very end of Venice Ave. East) for an evening drink in tranquil riverside surroundings. (Beware poor food reviews!) We would have no hesitation in recommending this house to friends and would choose it to come back to should we visit Venice again.
