  Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: we were pleased with our experience re: D614. well equipped, well located, grounds and pool crew do a wonderful job. only negative is that the condo itself was not easy for my husband who has had a stroke-high bed, high dining table and deep couch.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been to Maui five times and this condo was the best equipped and nicely decorated one that we have stayed in. The view from the lanai was fantastic and we had certainly took advantage of it. We would certainly like to book this condo again when we return to Maui.

Only neg comment I could say was that the bed sheets are getting a little thin. Other than that this is a great unit and great location. Mahalo.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We very much enjoyed our stay at D614. The view was amazing as described. Everything we needed was provided as well. We even felt safe during the big Oct 27 Tsunami scare. The water was shut off for two business days for unseen reasons but we survived. We would definitely stay again. Mahalo! Kelly & Heather

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location, peaceful and quiet with outstanding views of the ocean off lanai. Walking distance to great casual dining and shopping less than five minutes away, Nice beach less than five minutes away. Go south five minutes and it gets more secluded. Go north five minutes and it gets busier. Condo had every thing you could want from coolers to beach towels to beach chairs to snorkleing equipment. Even soap for laundry. Pool very quiet with BBQ's as well. Outstanding get away!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This property absolutely lived up to the photos and description online. It is on the top floor with an unbelievable view of the ocean and nearby islands from the balcony - plus it's west-facing so you get amazing sunsets right out your window. There are two pools and a tennis court on the property, plus you are right aross the street from the beach and there are several good restaurants within walking or very short driving distance away. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed (even a blender for homemade pina coladas!), and both the couch and bed were incredibly comfortable. The only non-intuitive thing about the place is that apparently "1" is the high setting for the ceiling fans and "4" is low. Once we figured that out, the fans plus the cross-breeze from the trade winds was more than enough to keep us cool.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was good. Well presented and comfortable. Fell short in a few areas Sofa bed which we wanted to use was broken so 1 person had to sleep on sofa, Dishwash only worked once, storage cupboard in bedroom door was falling off, constant drowning of exhaust fan in bathroom which was on 24/7 mainly noticeable at night when trying to sleep. I would recommend this property but would check first to see if items rectified.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our opportunity to escape and celebrate our wedding and honeymoon in the same trip. The property at D-614 in Kihei Akahi was the perfect spot for this adventure. The inside of the property was clean, the kitchen was fully stocked with whatever you required to make your stay comfortable, and the staff working there were very professional. The building itself was just far enough from the main road so that the din of traffic noise was not perceptible, which in turn made it a quiet spot to return to in the evening for a relaxing drink on the lanai. Furthermore, the location of the property in Kihei was perfect for venturing out to Makena Beach, or access to Kahului, or heading up the coast to Lahaina. Also, there is easy beach access just across the road or to surrounding beaches located on South Kihei Road. Can't say enough about how great the condo was, the people who made our stay accommodating from the office manager, the owner, the management company who brought us a gift basket upon our arrival, and all the support staff. Thanks for making our trip perfect!

Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at the Kihei Akahi many times and enjoy the location -- convenient to the beach and eating establishments, short drive to other beaches, to Wailea/other parts of town. The unit was very nice and comfortable. The rental agency experience was great and you should check out their car rental offer -- it was less expensive than other agencies, so check it out and see if it works for you. We always enjoy our stay at Kihei Akahi.....not too much to complain about when you are in Maui and immerse in the culture! Shaka.....

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed staying here for our 2 week vacation! It has a marvelous view of the ocean--we could whale watch every morning from the lanai! ( Take your binoculars!) The location is great--just a short walk to the beach, but far enough from the main road, so very quiet other than the 6:30am wake up call from the birds---but, what can you do! The suite is very comfortable and we enjoyed the Hawaiin decor! There are some very good restaurants and nice shops and we would definately stay there again!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had to split our stay in Kihei into two condos. This was the first place we stayed. The day we checked in our room was still not clean from the last renters...very disappointing. We weren't able to come back until about 5 pm and we were very tired from our flight from AK. The manager was very nice about it though and we had a cute tray awaiting us with some local cookies, tea, coffee and a bottle of wine. We absolutely loved the view of the ocean from our lanai, the sunsets were amazing and we could whale watch. The kitchen is very well equipped and very nice. Our only real complaint about the condo would have to be the bed. It was pretty hard and uncomfortable and we had some restless nights in it. A pillowtop cover over the matress could do this bed wonders...our next condo had one and it makes a world of difference. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay here!

Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, appreciated the condiments, paper products etc. being available. Lots of linen (beach towels much appreciated). Nice to have beach chairs, boogie boards cooler etc. Room had not been cleaned when we arrived at 11:30 at night. We made our own bed from linen in closet and called property manager in the morning. She had the room cleaned very quickly the next morning. Other than that small glitch, we were very happy with the accommodation and would stay there again and tell our friends about the lovely condo.

The kitchen was very well equipped and new. There were some basics things available such as salt and pepper and other seasonings and tea, which was nice. We had dinners on the balcony watching the sunset...lovely. The only suggestion I have is that the sofabed mattress is changed - it is in real bad shape. We did not really need it so it was not an issue for my small family.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had an amazing stay Kihei Akahi D-614. The furniture was lovely as well as the decor. Loved the true polynesian feel. The grounds are immaculately maintained - plumerias everywhere! The pool was lovely and also very clean. The other residents and guests were all very friendly. I did not see anyone "being upset" (as I read in another review of the complex) by kids playing in the pool and well, being kids. The beach was two minutes away - so easy to catch the sunset. The location is perfect - walk most anywhere in Kihei, or jump in the car for a couple minutes and you are in Wailea. Zip up to Foodland for the most delicious poke. Ate it every day. Yum! We will be recommending this property to our sister-in law for her honeymoon stay as well. We will be back. It really was great. Also no bugs, perfect breeze, nice appliances... we could go on and on. Thank you so much for all the thoughtful touches. Beach towels, chairs. The only bad part was having to leave!

The kitchen was very well stocked with all needed items - great to have an ice maker! The furnishings were tasteful and the bed very comfortable. The view from the lanai was gorgeous - watched the sunset from this location many times. Having high speed internet was very much appreciated, since I had to log in to work several times! Plenty of bath and beach towels and washer & dryer were big pluses. Two drawbacks: bedroom adjascent to the outside hall and parking lot caused interrupted sleep due to guests who did not observe "Quiet Time" and guests in adjascent units who smoked on their lanais and in the hallway (both not allowed and signs posted) causing unwanted smoke to enter our space. Otherwise, the location was great and we had a wonderful time!

Only bad part was the A/C was in the living room and it was difficult to cool the bedroom which is at the opposite end. There were lots of fans to help. Overall, the condo was absolutely amazing! The kitchen has everything you would possible need. We cooked the entire week and lacked nothing. Thanks so much!!

We felt like VIP's. The attention to detail; from the welcome basket to the elevated deck chairs, made our "home away from home" a very comfortable experience. The complex 'Kihei Akahi' is in excellent shape and groomed daily. In conclusion, "You should stay here"!

Reviewer Comments: Could use a few sharp knives, a salad spinner, mattress on sofa bed needs replacing, screens in the bedroom need replacing (had bugs if left lights on). We have stayed in the Akahi for over 25 years and have never had as many bugs. Bathroom tub faucet needs fixing, is very loose. Dinner plates do not fit in the dishwasher, too big.

The property manager was adequately helpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Having been in property management I might be too critical. First I'd like to say that the location was great and the sunsets wonderful. The kitchen was more than expected - well stocked and modern. What I didn't expect was holes in sheets, loose water faucets in the bathroom sink and tub, footprints on wall, stains on the kitchen ceiling, and a general lack of cleaning. We were staying 10 days and felt that the unit should have been in better shape than it was. It might be run down due to over use. I think that there should be a review by the management company to ensure that the units look like the pictures and that the cleaning people are doing their job. I know that it's not an easy job to clean places over and over again, but that's still no excuse for the lack of cleanliness. Also, I didn't know that I would have to provide my own toilet tissue once we ran out. For the price - well, enough said. Manager responded on 10/31/2010: Wow! We've never had such a response on this unit as it is one of our most popular and beautiful condos. We have alerted the cleaning staff and on-site management to look into thees issues immediately! Ate at Eskimo Candy Fish Market and Cafe. They had the best seafood chowder. Got good Texas bar-b-que at Fat Daddy's Smokehouse. Partied at the Dog and Duck Bar. Drove to Lahaina and ate at Cheeseburger in Paradise. I told them it wasn't cause the bun just disentegrated and I had to eat my burger with a fork. The condo had everything a person could ask for. Fantastic view and accomodations. Muhalo.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our first dealing with everyone at Hawaii Holiday Vacation Rentals, especially Tara, regarding our stay at Kihei Akahi D-614 was perfect. We loved the unit. It had everything we needed for a family of 4: fully stocked kitchen supplies, linens, and beach gears (umbrellas, beach chairs and mats, cooler, sand toys for kids). The panoramic view was gorgeous for our morning breakfast on the balcony and the occasional sunsets (when we're back in the condo on time). Our 9 and 6 year olds enjoyed the pool and the Kam II and III beaches that are just walking distance away. We will be back!

  Rating Details: I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. The vacation rental was very dirty. The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Manager responded on 5/20/2010: It took some nerve to rate the cleanliness a "1" -- in over 15 years of renting this condo, we have never had guests leave a condo trashed this badly. It took 2 housekeepers over 10 hours to get this property in condition to rent again. We're happy to show photos of how they left the condo if you're interested -- the photos are a testament to the appalling disrespect shown by these guests as well as to the talents of our housekeepers! We wrote the guests letting them know how disgusted we were by their behavior and we charged them an additional cleaning fee. Apparently this bad review is their "revenge." Please read all the reviews to see how guests who have respect for other's property have rated this condo.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We thoroughly enjoyed the property. The quality of the furniture was good, but we do think the unit could do with some general maitenace. We were very happy with this property with one exception. When we first walked in, it appeared to be very clean. However, upon a closer look, we found dust everywhere - under the beds, behind the furniture, along all the picture frames and lamps. We think that the whole unit needs a good and thorough cleaning. We also found that the unit was beginning to look "tired", i.e. the patio doors were very dirty, the kitchen cupboards were quite dirty inside, including the floor in the cupboard where the brooms and garbage can was kept. But we loved the layout, the wonderful balcony and beautiful view. The only real issue was the cleanliness. I would certainly stay in it again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo was very nice, but there was a large cockroach that greeted us upon our arrival. That was a disappointment. The unit was very dusty also. However, it was furnished beautifully and came with everything you could possibly need and we were very grateful for the coolers, beach chairs,etc. I would recommend this condo to anyone, but would ask that you do a quick inspection before your new guests arrived. A thorough cleaning needs to be done including under the bedroom furniture and living room couch.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There is one little window air conditioner for the whole condo. It is in the living room. The description said there was one in the bedroom but we sure couldn't find it. There was at least 10 degrees difference from the living room to the bedroom. It was very hot and muggy and we had to spend the night in the living room where the a/c was, on the sofa bed with a metal bar poking us in the back. And even then it was inadequate. We couldn’t stand it and left the next day. We went to a hotel where the a/c actually worked. We will never ever stay in someone’s condo again. Very disappointing and very expensive. I paid 500.00 to spend one miserable night on a sofa bed. I understand that it wasn’t their fault that the weather was muggy, but you know what, it wasn’t my fault either. NEVER EVER AGAIN. I gave it a 1 star rating only because I couldn’t give it zero stars. Manager responded on 8/25/2009: We installed a large 12000 BTU air conditioner in the D-614 living area, larger than the 10000 BTU unit recommended for the condo's size and enough to get the temperature into the 60s if you want to. We never imply the bedroom has an air conditioner, but even if there is a 10-degree difference between the living room and bedroom on a hot night, the bedroom is still comfortable for most guests. These guests were apparently exceptionally sensitive to the tropical climate and unfortunately happened to arrive on an unusually muggy day. Just a few hours after the guests decided to leave, the winds shifted, the temperature cooled, and the entire environment became comfortable even without air conditioning. (I was staying in a unit without A/C just down the hall.) Most guests appreciate having the extra space and convenience of an entire condo for less than the cost of a typical hotel room, and we sincerely regret that these guests were not able to enjoy D-614 because of one bad weather day.
