Located in the best and quietist location in Niguel Beach Terrace, this two bedroom, two full- bath ocean view condo is a one minute walk to the entry to Salt Creek (Dana) Strands Beach. The 'Lighthouse' has undergone complete renovation featuring maritime and nautical themes in soft colors of sand tones, blues and creams. All appliances, hardware, ceiling fans, baseboards, Zodiac stone countertops, kitchen cabinets, carpeting, and outside patio tile are new.
Enjoy the ocean view from the living room, guest bedroom, and one of the large patios. The living room features an electric fireplace, queen size sofa bed, and a 42" flat screen LCD HD TV as well as a library with books and games. Two large tiled private patios: one with an ocean view and the other with a picnic area and a George Foreman electric BBQ give the Lighthouse a distinctive open feel that is a bright and airy ground floor unit. Greenbelt areas are located next to both patios and the Lighthouse does not view the parking lot like many other units do.
The guest bedroom features extra long twin beds that can be converted into a king size bed with nightstands on both sides of the beds. A 37 inch LCD TV is located on top of a 6 -drawer chest of drawers in the closet to give maximum floor space to the room. An airbed can be added to comfortably sleep three people in the guest bedroom.
A combination of study and master suite is separated from the guest bedroom by both bathrooms. A king size sleigh bed is a dream to sleep on. A cherry wood desk, comfortable office chair, and computer with full high speed internet access is in the master suite. A 37 inch LCD is in the closet on top of a 6 -drawer chest of drawers.
The Lighthouse is fully stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and all other amenities to make your stay enjoyable. It is a "turn-key" operation and all you need are a few clothes for your holiday.
Location, location, location. The Lighthouse has the finest location in Niguel Beach Terrace, closest to the beach, away from the street, not located on the parking lot, and in a quiet area surrounded by greenbelts. The community pool and two spas are a two minute walk from the Lighthouse.
Niguel Beach Terrace at Strands Beach is located between Laguna Beach and Dana Point Harbor in the Monarch Beach area of the "California Riviera." It is on the ocean side of Pacific Coast Highway with a short walk to Starbucks, the Ritz Carlton, St. Regis Resort, the public library and a commercial center. Dana Point harbor and marina is nearby where the boat to Catalina Island is available.
There is no finer location in southern California to visit San Diego attractions, Hollywood, Disneyland and all other places of interest. A half of dozen golf courses are located nearby as well as many dining options. Two supermarkets are within one mile of the Lighthouse and any other store you might need is a short distance away.

- King Bed : The master suite features a king size bed. The extra long twin beds in the large guest bedroom can be easily converted into a king size bed.
- Queen Bed : A sleeper sofa in the living room can be converted into a queen size bed.
- Twin/Single Bed : The guest bedroom features extra long twin beds and twin night-stands that can be converted into a king size bed. The Lighthouse also has a high quality air bed that can be used in the guest bedroom for a three bed set-up to for three occupants (usually kids).

- Shared Hot Tub : There are two hot tubs (spas or jacuzzis) at Niguel Beach Terrace with one located next to the swimming pool and the 2nd one at a separate location.
- Cable/Satellite TV : All three flat screen LCD TV's are connected to extended cable. The TV in the living has HD and DVD (Tivo) functions. The TV's in the two bedrooms are in the closet to allow for maximum space use in the room. The living room has a 42" flat screen LCD TV and the master suite and guest bedroom TV's are 37" flat screen LCD TV's. The TV's in both bedrooms are located in the closet to allow maximum use of the floor space in the bedrooms.

- Shared Pool : A large pool with deck chairs and shaded area is available for your use and it is a quick two minute walk from the Lighthouse. We provide the pool key to enter this facility that includes a restroom, changing room, drinking fountain and shower.

- Full Kitchen : All cabinets and drawers are new or refurbished in a birch finish and the new Zodiac countertops have backsplashes that extend to the cupboards. Modern recessed lighting has been installed all the appliances are new and extra quiet.
- Cooking Utensils Provided : The LIghthouse has everything you could ask for to cook a holiday meal.
- Refrigerator : The new 25 cubic foot Maytag features filtered water, an ice-maker and easy use of both from the outside of the regrigerator.

- Gas/Electric BBQ Grill : A new George Foreman electric BBQ grill is a handy and easy way to enjoy outside cooking on our large east patio with an outside picnic table and 4 chairs to enjoy al fresco dining.
- Deck/Patio : Both patios and the front entry feature new porcelain tile. The east patio features the electric BBQ grill and a lollypop picnic table with 4 chairs. A comfortable lounge chair is also available for reading, sunning, and just relaxing. The west patio has a bistro table for enjoying the ocean view with your morning coffee or the evening sunset with your afternoon drink of choice as well as a comfortable lounge chair for reading, sunning, or relaxing.
- Lanai : Our east patio is partially covered with an open area for grilling and sunning available. The west patio is completely covered but is open to the ocean breezes and the afternoon sun along with the ocean view of the evening sunsets.

- Ocean View : The ocean view can be enjoyed from the living room, guest bedroom, and especially the west patio. Catalina sunsets are frequently seen especially in the fall and winter months. The reflection from the ocean can be seen on the large mirror in the living room from inside of the condo.

- Telephone : This is for local and 800 number calls only and is a walk around phone with an answer phone and speaker phone features along with an extension in the master bedroom.
- Computer : A new computer (E-Machine) with a 19 inch screen monitor is located in the master bedroom on an antique cherry wood desk with a executive desk chair.

- No Pets Allowed : Not with the guests or with visitors to our guests. We maintain a hypoallergenic environment at the Lighthouse.
- Kid Friendly : We have a crib and high chair available along with an air bed which is an ideal sleeping arrangement for young children. Our large patios make the Lighthouse an ideal getaway for people with children as lots of activities can take place outdoors on the patios.

- Smoking Not Allowed : If you must smoke we ask that you do it outside on the front steps to the condo or the west patio. Please avoid smoking on the east patio.

Year Purchased: 1983
Tom & Vonne Barnes are the proud owners of the Lighthouse Vacation Rental in Dana Point.
They are semi-retired, Tom after a 35 year high school teaching career and Vonne after 25 years in the medical field and have a number of interests they engage in. Besides running the Lighthouse Vonne is involved in community activities including saving open space and beach access. She also serves on the Board of Directors in Rancho San Clemente.
Tom does some tutoring of high school students and has written two books. He is a former political columnist for San Clemente Patch on-line newspaper with his column Barnes-Eye view of San Clemente.
They decided to convert their Dana Point condo into a vacation rental six years ago after renting it out long term for twenty years. When Niguel Beach Terrace was built Tom was an original owner and he and Vonne lived in the unit after they were married.
Many of the ideas the Barnes' have used in setting up the Lighthouse have come from their extensive travels to more than 100 countries.
They live in San Clemente with their two cats Sunnie and Katie and enjoy visits from their son Dan and two grandkids Marissa & Jonathan.
They enjoy being the proprietors of the Lighthouse and are especially grateful for the many kind comments that guests have said about their stays in the Lighthouse.
Besides travel Tom & Vonne enjoy reading, walking on the beach, and Tom has been playing Rotisserie Baseball for 21 years.

Very high level of furnishing. Many extra thoughtful touches. Excellently provisioned and maintained. Very good location - near enough to get to Los Angeles easily but far enough away not to be in the city. Eexcellent communication from owners and care that we had a good time, with no problems.

We loved the Lighthouse!! The description by owner was completely accurate. Making arrangements was done promptly, with ease and in a friendly manner. We were thrilled with the location, just across from the ocean while being one unit away from the street noise. We were so pleased with the amazing cleanliness and the layout was just great. It was exceptionally well-equipped with modern, first class kitchen and laundry appliances and the king mattress was superior. The instruction book provided by the owners gave us the answers to every possible question. Thoughtful, extra touches we enjoyed: CD's, movies, games, books, all kitchen dishes and cooking equipment, dry condiments, as well as bathroom shampoos, soaps, kleenex, etc. There were many beach toys for children so we were wishing we had grandchildren with us! The front-facing patio offered us the view of magnificent sunsets every night and the other patio offered a quiet, sunny spot for morning coffee. The cheery Lighthouse decorative theme was present throughout - even the shower curtain and bed quilts. We would definitely recommend this extremely clean, comfortable and restful home which is provided by the owners with much thoughtfulness.

My wife and I stayed for a week at the beginning of December and had a great stay. This property is better than advertised, totally equipped and has a fantastic location. Have stayed in the area twice before but overall this was the best property we have rented. Well done to the friendly owners who put a lot of effort in to making sure every stay is one to remember.

I am a little late in writing this review but would like to share our experience vacationing at the Lighthouse. Our family of three including our nine month old baby had a lot of fun living in the condo.We appreciated the little things that the hosts have done like providing a high chair,a pack n play and also the baby monitor which made life a lot easier for us during our stay there. Our baby was super happy cruising around the condo but for parents with older kids the children's books and DVDs provided for in the condo are a great touch. We also came across interesting nd fun boardgames which larger groups could enjoy. All in all, a clean,cozy and modern home away from home for people to enjoy while on vacation.

Aus Deutschland via Internet gebucht und wirklich alles hat gepasst. Top- Ausstattung, tolle Lage zu Strand und Swimming-Pool und Jakuzi. Nach San Diego und LA nur 1 Stunde Fahrzeit. Vielfältige Ausflugmöglichkeiten. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und haben an alles gedacht: Bettwäsche,Hand- und Strandtücher, Seife, Shampoo,Lotion und und und! Jeder Familie mit bis max. 5 Personen zu empfehlen. wir hatten einen tollen Urlaub ( Eltern und 20,17,13 Jahre alte Jungen ).

We spent the 4th of July at the Lighthouse and really enjoyed our stay. The area is just absolutely beautiful and hte people/neighbors we met were very friendly and helpful in pointing out things to do around town - especially where to watch the July 4 fireworks. It was a short trip from John Wayne airport and Disney and Sea World was only about an hour or so away. It was a perfect location w/o being too over-crowded. The house was clean and Tom was available to answer all the questions I had about getting to/from some local attractions (e.g. Capt Dave's Dophin Safari (WOW) and getting up to Dodger stadium). The condo has easy access (well, 165 stairs) to the beach and also has a lovely pool and spa. The kids also loved that the condo came supplied with all the beach toys they could use. If you're going to SoCal, put this place at the top of your list.
Recommended for:Families with young children.

We spent a beautiful 9 days in Dana Point. The condo had everything we needed and the owners did everything they could to make us have a fantastic time in a very clean and well maintained home. The coffee machine broke down the first day, but already after a couple of hours Tom and Vonne came with a brand new. What a service!! The location is very convenient with easy access to everything. Thank you to Tom & Vonne for making our vacation so pleasant!

We enjoyed our stay very much. Everything was as described. The condo had everything we needed and was spotless. Everything was in working order. Landscaping is beautiful. The owners provided us with plenty of information prior to the stay, which helped with planning. Spent most of our trip sightseeing in Orange County - Huntington Beach (surfers, volleyball, paint-ball tourney, nightlife - fun town), Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Dana Point (beach, shops, restaurants and whale-watching), San Diego (followed Scenic Drive), Hollywood. Beautiful area. Husband is a runner (wife not so much!); he enjoyed his daily runs on the beach (easy access from the condo). Great spot to relax, would recommend to friends.

I was very happy with the "Lighthouse" and the nice owner that rented it to me. Their description of the condo and what it had to offer was correct in every way. The location is very convenient with easy access to everything. The views of the ocean with the walkways along Strand Beach is so special. I am hoping to return and escape the Sierra Mountain snows and cold again next season. I feel that I was lucky in chosing the "Lighthouse".
