Thank you Mary and John for your suggestion - we agree! We have ordered reading lights for the bedside tables in the Master Bedroom. There is nothing like being able to read a great book in bed!

in the cabin and enjoying our hikes, with and without snowshoes. Our only suggestion for the cabin is to add some good lights for reading. Once it is dark outside, there is only one good reading light - the downstairs floor lamp. Otherwise, all great!

Our favorite was to lounge around the fireplace. This year - not a lot of snow but skiing and snowmobiling were great! We got to see caribou (elk?), but not in the city or near cabin. Overall, we had a great time! Thanks -

Saw the fox & moose. Lots of squirrels. Great snowmobiling! Oh yes, and the melodrama - funny! (Owners are thinking that they went to the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre? Another great activity in Grand Lake!)

Thoroughly enjoyed it! We love Grand Lake and all the neat places to hike. Did 2 hikes while here: 1. to Shadow Mt. Lookout 2. to Lulu City and beyond (to Little Yellowstone Canyon) though we could not get across the Colorado River due to the bridge being out (caused by flooding from excessive snowfall this winter). It was a nice hike nonetheless. Saw a fox run by the cabin!

Very well located and so comfortable! (And we saw 2 teenage moose on the road to the cabin one night!) If you are stocking the pantry - take the drive to Granby to the City Market for groceries - it is a great store! Eating out instead? We loved the disorganized but excellent breakfast (and pastries) at the Bluewater Bakery/Cafe. Fat Cat Cafe also has a yummy breakfast. Grand Pizza makes a mean pizza and Sagebrush BBQ has an extensive menu with great buffalo burgers. If you trek to Estes Park try the Egg and I for breakfast. The Estes Park Brewery for micro-brews or a jug of their own fantastic root beer. (There's also 2 nice movie theaters there.) Want a couple of lovely, nearby, short hikes? Try Adams Falls or Cascade Falls - both worth the trip! Or do the 2 hour trail ride with the Sombrero Stables to see the forest and streams while the horse does the work!! Be sure to drive up to the top of Trail Ridge Rd in RMNP - the views are stellar! So much to see in the area - don't forget to see Grand Lake Village itself!

This was a cozy, well-appointed and super-clean cabin! A great place to use as a home base for spending time in the Grand Lake & the Rocky Mountain National Park area. Easy access from the main road and so close to shopping, restaurants, live theater, horseback riding and the most beautiful scenery around! Owners were great to work with, too.

We are so happy we chose Star Cabin as our home base for exploring Rocky Mtn Ntl Park and the surrounding area. We were looking for a clean and comfortable home that would provide local charm in a natural setting and Star Cabin was spot-on! Early mornings greeted us with a beautiful sunrise over Shadow Mtn Lake, an elk grazing among the wildflowers, and even a small black bear foraging for breakfast. The owners' attention to detail provided everything we needed including a convenient downstairs deck for dining al fresco, as well as an upstairs one for star-gazing at night. Even in July, sleeping was perfectly comfortable in the upstairs bedroom with the windows open to enjoy the cooler temperatures. The cute little mountain town of Grand Lake offered several good dining options, shops for browsing, and the excellent Rocky Mtn Repertory Theater for some top-notch productions- a gem of a venue which was recently built with the support of the entire community. A Saturday party on the beach by the lake was lots of fun with a live band and local vendors against a backdrop of mountains and sailboats. Don't miss the dog beach- watching our four-legged friends enjoy cooling off and fetching for their owners was truly a pleasure! The options for adventure nearby are endless...hiking in Rocky Mtn Ntl Park, fishing the lakes, rafting the rivers, exploring nearby towns...you won't be disappointed. Thanks, Angie & Bob for sharing Star Cabin and your little piece of heaven! Allen & D'Ann, Havana, Florida
Owner response:We were delighted to read D'Ann and Allen's review of the Star Cabin. It is our hope that all of our guests will enjoy the cabin and Grand Lake area as much as we do. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences with others. :)

My son chose coming to Grand Lake for his 11th birthday instead of a party. We were hoping it would be special, and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay! You have a lovely cabin & we hope to return!

Our mini vacation at the Star Cabin was really wonderful! The Star Cabin was close to everything that we wanted to do - ski, snowmobile, snowshow, shop and eat out! The Star Cabin had all of the amenties of home but with a cozy atmosphere and great views of the lake and the mountains. We really wish we could live there, we liked it that much! Bob and Angie were great to rent from and they really did go to great lengths to make us feel at home. We can't wait to go back to the Grand Lake area in the summer and do it all again! Thanks so much Angie and Bob - we really appreciate all that you did to make the Star Cabin shine!

Our family of five was looking for a quick get away for a long weekend. The Star Cabin was perfect! Very clean and well appointed with all the amenities. Absolutely a great place to relax and unwind. Photographs of the view do not do justice. The master bedroom is upstairs along with an adorable "loft" area for children. My kids loved it! The cabin is a short drive from Grand Lake and all it's restaurants and shopping. Also, a must visit is Sulpher Hot Springs, just 30 minutes away. Thanks again for your great hospitality!

Angie was so kind to take me and my group on on a two day notice! I love homeaway.com! We just needed a thrill of being in the mountains away from the city and do something out of the ordinary and it was a real treat and the price was just right. The cabin was lovingly taken care of and the kitchen was so well stocked! We lacked for nothing in that department. The drive was really easy for us and our children. We all loved the loft and we all slept up there both nights! We had two boys ages 4 and 6, my daughter who is almost 3. They had a great time in the cabin playing in the fort, playing games, hiking to Adams Falls and being at the playground in Grand Lake. The best part of Grand Lake was walking to the beach area where the peers are behind the Main Street and watched the kids play in the sand, pulling there pants up without their shoes or socks on to walk into the water. The weather was so perfect for mid-October! The people in Grand Lake are friendly and very helpful if you need help in any way. I highly recommend this cabin and destination if you are looking to do something different for the weekend away. Again, thank you Angie for taking me on with such short notice! Jayne

It was the jumping off place for our many adventures into the Rockies of Colorado. We hiked to Timber Lake (10.6 miles round trip) and thought our lungs would burst! We saw elk on the park and out the back door; the kids named him "Charles"! White water rafting in Buena Vista on the Arkansas River was an occasion to see and enjoy still more of this beautiful state where even the "non-scenic" roads had us dropping our jaws in awe! To God be the glory.

We enjoyed Star Cabin! Rocky Mountain National Park is just down the road. Great place to relax after time in the beautiful outdoors. The owners were easy to work with and provided helpful information about their favorite things to do, places to eat and buy groceries. The cabin is fun to stay in, clean, has a well stocked kitchen, and well-maintained. We loved the RMNP map on the wall, and used the Grand County cross country and snowshoe trail book. Thank you for a great location for our spring break.

I really enjoyed my stay at the star cabin in Grand Lake. The cabin was very clean and cozy. I loved the two decks, especially the upper one as the view of the lake and mountains were gorgeous! It was easy to find and close enough to the downtown area without being right in the thick of things. The people in town were very friendly and helpful, also. The hiking trails I went on were beautiful! All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my vacation and would highly recommend staying at the Star Cabin!
